SASE X-ray Free-Electron Laser driven by Resonant Multi-Pulse Ionization acceleration scheme

Laser wakefield accelerators are on the way to provide GeV scale high-brightness electron beams for multidisciplinary applications. In the present work, electron bunches are studied in the framework of a Free-Electron Laser driven by an accelerator in the Resonant Multi-Pulse Ionisation framework. The transport to the undulator is provided by a matched beam focusing with marginal beam quality degradation. Finally, using the CRESCO/ENEAGRID High Performance Computing infrastructure, 3D time-dependent simulations of the produced radiation show that about 10$^{10}$ photons with central wavelength of 0.15 nm will be delivered with the electron bunches under consideration.

FEL performance and tolerance studies of the EuPRAXIA@SPARC_LAB beamline AQUA

The AQUA beamline of the EuPRAXIA@SPARC_LAB facility is a SASE free-electron laser designed to operate in the water window, in the 3-4 nm wavelength range. The electron beam driving this source is accelerated up to about 1-1.2 GeV by an X-band normal conducting linear accelerator, followed by a plasma wakefield acceleration stage. The main radiator consists of an array of ten APPLE-X permanent magnet undulator modules, each 2 m long and with a period length of 18 mm. Tolerance analyses against resistive wall wakefields and injection misalignments at undulator entrance are performed, and the related effects on the laser yield performance are evaluated and discussed.

The future search for low-frequency axions and new physics with the FLASH resonant cavity experiment at Frascati National Laboratories

We present a proposal for a new experiment, the FINUDA magnet for Light Axion SearcH (FLASH), a large resonant-cavity haloscope in a high static magnetic field which is planned to probe new physics in the form of dark matter (DM) axions, scalar fields, chameleons, hidden photons, as well as high frequency gravitational waves (GWs). Concerning the QCD axion, FLASH will search for these particles as the DM in the mass range (0.49-1.49) ueV, thus filling the mass gap between the ranges covered by other planned searches. A dedicated Microstrip SQUID operating at ultra-cryogenic temperatures will amplify the signal. The frequency range accessible overlaps with the Very High Frequency (VHF) range of the radio wave spectrum and allows for a search in GWs in the frequency range (100-300) MHz. The experiment will make use of the cryogenic plant and magnet of the FINUDA experiment at INFN Frascati National Laboratories near Rome (Italy); the operations needed to restore the functionalities of the apparatus are currently underway. We present the setup of the experiment and the sensitivity forecasts for the detection of axions, scalar fields, chameleons, hidden photons, and GWs.

Slice collective dynamics, projected emittance deterioration and Free Electron Laser performances detrimental effects

The dynamical effects inducing geometrical and phase space misalignment of bunch slice in X-ray operating Free Electron Lasers can be traced back to a plethora of phenomena, both in the linac accelerating section or inside the beam transport optic magnet. They are responsible for a spoiling of the beam projected qualities and induce, if not properly corrected, an increase of the saturation length and a decreasing of the output power. We discuss the inclusion of these effects in models employing scaling formulae.

KLOE Results on Light Meson Properties

The KLOE experiment operating at the $ϕ$--factory DA$Φ$NE has collected an integrated luminosity of about 2.5 fb$^{-1}$ and 250 pb$^{-1}$, on and off the $ϕ$ meson peak respectively. Recent results achieved from studying properties of pseudoscalar and scalar mesons are presented.

A precise new KLOE measurement of $F_π$ with ISR events and determination of $ππ$ contribution to $a_μ$ for [0.35,0.95] GeV$^2$

The KLOE experiment at the DA$Φ$NE $ϕ$-factory has performed a new precise measurement of the pion form factor using Initial State Radiation events, with photons emitted at small polar angle. Results based on an integrated luminosity of 240 pb$^{-1}$ and extraction of the $ππ$ contribution to $a_μ$ in the mass range [0.35,0.95] GeV$^2$ are presented, the systematic uncertainty is reduced with respect to the published KLOE result.
