Lines of curvature of the double torus

We describe the $ν$-lines of curvature of an embedding of the double torus into $\mathbb R^4$, defined as the link of the real part of the Milnor fibration of a polynomial, where $ν$ is its gradient. Through this analysis, we present a complete description of the foliation of lines of curvature of the embedding, defined as the image of the stereographic projection of this link into $\mathbb R^3$.

On some combinatorial formulae coming from Hessian Topology

The interaction between combinatorics and algebraic and differential geometry is very strong. While researching a problem of Hessian topology, we came across a series of identities of binomial coefficients, which are useful for proving a topological property of certain spaces whose elements are graphs of a class of hyperbolic polynomials. These identities are proven by different methods in combinatorics.

On Lorentzian surfaces in $\mathbb{R}^{2,2}$

We study the second order invariants of a Lorentzian surface in $\mathbb{R}^{2,2},$ and the curvature hyperbolas associated to its second fundamental form. Besides the four natural invariants, new invariants appear in some degenerate situations. We then introduce the Gauss map of a Lorentzian surface and give an extrinsic proof of the vanishing of the total Gauss and normal curvatures of a compact Lorentzian surface. The Gauss map and the second order invariants are then used to study the asymptotic directions of a Lorentzian surface and discuss their causal character. We also consider the relation of the asymptotic lines with the mean directionally curved lines. We finally introduce and describe the quasi-umbilic surfaces, and the surfaces whose four classical invariants vanish identically.

On the Arnold's conjecture on hyperbolic homogeneous polynomials

The Hessian Topology is a subject with interesting relations with some classical problems of analysis and geometry. In this article we prove a conjecture on this subject stated by V.I. Arnold concerning the number of connected components of hyperbolic homogeneous polynomials of degree $n$. The proof is constructive and provides models. Our approach uses index properties at isolated singularities of hyperbolic quadratic differential forms and combinatorial properties of recurrent functions.

Geometric invariants and principal configurations on spacelike surfaces immersed in R^3,1

We first describe the numerical invariants attached to the second fundamental form of a spacelike surface in four-dimensional Minkowski space. We then study the configuration of the nu-principal curvature lines on a spacelike surface, when the normal field nu is lightlike (the lightcone configuration). Some observations on the mean directionally curved lines and on the asymptotic lines on spacelike surfaces end the paper.
