PSWF-Radon approach to reconstruction from band-limited Hankel transform

We give new formulas for reconstructions from band-limited Hankel transform of integer or half-integer order. Our formulas rely on the PSWF-Radon approach to super-resolution in multidimensional Fourier analysis. This approach consists of combining the theory of classical one-dimensional prolate spheroidal wave functions with the Radon transform theory. We also use the relation between Fourier and Hankel transforms and Cormack-type inversion of the Radon transform. Finally, we investigate numerically the capabilities of our approach to super-resolution for band-limited Hankel inversion in relation to varying levels of noise.

Nonparametric posterior learning for emission tomography with multimodal data

We continue studies of the uncertainty quantification problem in emission tomographies such as PET or SPECT when additional multimodal data (e.g., anatomical MRI images) are available. To solve the aforementioned problem we adapt the recently proposed nonparametric posterior learning technique to the context of Poisson-type data in emission tomography. Using this approach we derive sampling algorithms which are trivially parallelizable, scalable and very easy to implement. In addition, we prove conditional consistency and tightness for the distribution of produced samples in the small noise limit (i.e., when the acquisition time tends to infinity) and derive new geometrical and necessary condition on how MRI images must be used. This condition arises naturally in the context of identifiability problem for misspecified generalized Poisson models. We also contrast our approach with Bayesian Markov Chain Monte Carlo sampling based on one data augmentation scheme which is very popular in the context of Expectation-Maximization algorithms for PET or SPECT. We show theoretically and also numerically that such data augmentation significantly increases mixing times for the Markov chain. In view of this, our algorithms seem to give a reasonable trade-off between design complexity, scalability, numerical load and assessment for the uncertainty.

A geometric based preprocessing for weighted ray transforms with applications in SPECT

In this work we investigate numerically the reconstruction approach proposed in Goncharov, Novikov, 2016, for weighted ray transforms (weighted Radon transforms along oriented straight lines) in 3D. In particular, the approach is based on a geometric reduction of the data modeled by weighted ray transforms to new data modeled by weighted Radon transforms along two-dimensional planes in 3D. Such reduction could be seen as a preprocessing procedure which could be further completed by any preferred reconstruction algorithm. In a series of numerical tests on modelized and real SPECT (single photon emission computed tomography) data we demonstrate that such procedure can significantly reduce the impact of noise on reconstructions.

An example of non-uniqueness for Radon transforms with continuous positive rotation invariant weights

We consider weighted Radon transforms $R_W$ along hyperplanes in $R^3$ with strictly positive weights $W$. We construct an example of such a transform with non-trivial kernel $\mathrm{Ker}R_W$ in the space of infinitely smooth compactly supported functions and with continuous weight. Moreover, in this example the weight $W$ is rotation invariant. In particular, by this result we continue studies of Quinto (1983), Markoe, Quinto (1985), Boman (1993) and Goncharov, Novikov (2017). We also extend our example to the case of weighted Radon transforms along two-dimensional planes in $R^d$ , $d \geq 3$.

A breakdown of injectivity for weighted ray transforms in multidimensions

We consider weighted ray-transforms $P\_W$ (weighted Radon transforms along straight lines) in $\mathbb{R}^d, \, d\geq 2,$ with strictly positive weights $W$. We construct an example of such a transform with non-trivial kernel in the space of infinitely smooth compactly supported functions on $\mathbb{R}^d$. In addition, the constructed weight $W$ is rotation-invariant continuous and is infinitely smooth almost everywhere on $\mathbb{R}^d \times \mathbb{S}^{d-1}$. In particular, by this construction we give counterexamples to some well-known injectivity results for weighted ray transforms for the case when the regularity of $W$ is slightly relaxed. We also give examples of continous strictly positive $W$ such that $\dim \ker P\_W \geq n$ in the space of infinitely smooth compactly supported functions on $\mathbb{R}^d$ for arbitrary $n\in \mathbb{N}\cup \{\infty\}$, where $W$ are infinitely smooth for $d=2$ and infinitely smooth almost everywhere for $d\geq 3$.

Stochastic Analysis in Problems, part 1 (in Russian)

This book contains a large number of exercises related to different stochastic disciplines. Difficulty of the problems varies from the basic level in the first chapter up to the analysis of articles in Probability, Statistics and Computer Science. Range of the given exercises covers most of the significant classical results of the area including techniques that arise in modern stochastic disciplines. The book is recommended for the course "Stochastic Analysis in problems" which is held by the Department of Mathematical Foundations of Control in Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. Content of the book may be used for practical classes, exams and for self-education reasons in various stochastic disciplines.
