On Umbilical Real Hypersufaces of Products of Complex Space Forms

Tashiro and Tachibana proved that there exist no totally umbilical hypersurfaces in complex space forms with nonzero constant holomorphic sectional curvature, and it is also known that the shape operator of such hypersurfaces cannot be parallel. Motivated by these results, we study real hypersurfaces in products of complex space forms. We establish rigidity and nonexistence results for totally umbilical real hypersurfaces in this setting. In particular, we show that if a real hypersurface in a product of complex space forms does not admit a local product structure, then its shape operator cannot be parallel. Moreover, we provide a classification of totally umbilical real hypersurfaces, showing that those admitting a local almost product structure are necessarily totally geodesic or extrinsic hyperspheres.

Surfaces with parallel mean curvature in warped product spaces

In this work, we obtain a geometric description of surfaces $M^2$ of arbitrary codimension in the warped product $\mathbb{R}\times_ρ\mathbb{Q}^n_ε$, with parallel mean curvature vector field in the normal connection, extending a result by Alencar-do Carmo-Tribuzy.

Spectral rigidity of manifolds with Ricci bounded below and maximal bottom spectrum

We investigate the spectrum of the Laplacian on complete, non-compact manifolds $M^n$ whose Ricci curvature satisfies $\mathrm{Ric} \geq -(n-1)\mathrm{H}(r)$, for some continuous, non-increasing $\mathrm{H}$ with $\mathrm{H}-1 \in L^1(\infty)$. We prove that if the bottom spectrum attains the maximal value $\frac{(n-1)^2}{4}$ compatible with the curvature bound, then the spectrum of $M$ coincides with that of hyperbolic space $\mathbb{H}^n$, namely, $σ(M) = \left[ \frac{(n-1)^2}{4}, \infty \right)$. The result can be localized to an end $E$ with infinite volume.

Existence and obstructions for the curvature on compact manifolds with boundary

We study the set of curvature functions which a given compact manifold with boundary can possess. First, we prove that the sign demanded by the Gauss-Bonnet Theorem is a necessary and sufficient condition for a given function to be the geodesic curvature or the Gaussian curvature of some conformally equivalent metric. Our approach allows us to solve problems that are impossible to solve in the pointwise conformal case. Moreover, we obtain a deep and more delicate information on pointwise conformal deformations. We prove new existence and nonexistence results for metrics with prescribed curvature in the conformal setting, which depend on the Euler characteristic.

Rotational Ricci surfaces

We classify rotational surfaces in the three-dimensional Euclidean space whose Gaussian curvature $K$ satisfies \begin{equation*} KΔK - \|\nabla K\|^2-4K^3 = 0. \end{equation*} These surfaces are referred to as rotational Ricci surfaces. As an application, we show that there is a one-parameter family of such surfaces meeting the boundary of the unit Euclidean three-ball orthogonally. In addition, we show that this family interpolates a vertical geodesic and the critical catenoid.

A note on area estimates for stable $H$-hypersurfaces and applications

We show some area estimates for stable CMC hypersurfaces immersed in Riemannian manifolds with scalar and sectional curvature bounded from below. In particular, we focus on immersions in three-dimensional Riemannian manifolds. As an application, we derive some upper estimates for the bottom spectrum of these hypersurfaces. This paper generalizes and builds on the techniques developed by Munteanu, Sung and Wang for stable minimal surfaces.

Uniqueness of free-boundary minimal hypersurfaces in rotational domains

In this work, we investigate the existence of compact free-boundary minimal hypersurfaces immersed in several domains. Using an original integral identity for compact free-boundary minimal hypersurfaces that are immersed in a domain whose boundary is a regular level set, we study the case where this domain is a quadric or, more generally, a rotational domain. This existence study is done without topological restrictions. We also obtain a new gap theorem for free boundary hypersurfaces immersed in an Euclidean ball and in a rotational ellipsoid.

A Note on Free Boundary Hypersurfaces in Space Forms Balls

In this article, we establish a relationship between geometric quantities of a hypersurface restricted to its boundary, and the geometric quantities of its boundary as a hypersurface of the boundary of the ball. As a first application, we prove that the quantity of umbilical points of a free boundary surface in the unit ball counted with multiplicities depend only on its topology; moreover, we obtain as consequences that free boundary surfaces are annuli if, and only if, they have no umbilical points, and a new proof of the Nitsche Theorem. Secondly, we prove two geometric integral inequalities for free boundary hypersurfaces, and use them to relate some geometric aspects of the hypersurface with topological aspects of its boundary in the three-dimensional case, and to give a new point of view to the Catenoid Conjecture.

Constant mean curvature Isometric Immersions into $\mathbb{S}^2 \times \mathbb{R}$ and $\mathbb{H}^2 \times \mathbb{R}$ and related results

In this article, we study constant mean curvature isometric immersions into $\mathbb{S}^2 \times \mathbb{R}$ and $\mathbb{H}^2 \times \mathbb{R}$ and we classify these isometric immersions when the surface has constant intrinsic curvature. As applications, we use the sister surface correspondence to classify the constant mean curvature surfaces with constant intrinsic curvature in the $3-$dimensional homogenous manifolds $\mathbb{E}(κ, τ)$ and we use the Torralbo-Urbano correspondence to classify the parallel mean curvature surfaces in $\mathbb{S}^2 \times \mathbb{S}^2$ and $\mathbb{H}^2 \times \mathbb{H}^2$ with constant intrinsic curvature. It is worthwhile to point out that these classifications provide new examples.

Prescribing the curvature of Riemannian manifolds with boundary

Let $M$ be a compact connected surface with boundary. We prove that the signal condition given by the Gauss-Bonnet theorem is necessary and sufficient for a given smooth function $f$ on $\partial M$ (resp. on $M$) to be geodesic curvature of the boundary (resp. the Gauss curvature) of some flat metric on $M$ (resp. metric on $M$ with geodesic boundary). In order to provide analogous results for this problem with $n\geq 3,$ we prove some topological restrictions which imply, among other things, that any function that is negative somewhere on $\partial M$ (resp. on $M$) is a mean curvature of a scalar flat metric on $M$ (resp. scalar curvature of a metric on $M$ and minimal boundary with respect to this metric). As an application of our results, we obtain a classification theorem for manifolds with boundary.

Vanishing theorems for the cohomology groups of free boundary hypersurfaces

In this paper, we prove that there exists a universal constant $C$, depending only on positive integers $n\geq 3$ and $p\leq n-1$, such that if $M^n$ is a compact free boundary submanifold of dimension $n$ immersed in the Euclidean unit ball $\mathbb{B}^{n+k}$ whose size of the traceless second fundamental form is less than $C$, then the $p$th cohomology group of $M^n$ vanishes. Also, employing a different technique, we obtain a rigidity result for compact free boundary surfaces minimally immersed in the unit ball $\mathbb{B}^{2+k}$.

The Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg Inequality for Submanifolds in Riemannian Manifolds

After works by Michael and Simon [10], Hoffman and Spruck [9], and White [14], the celebrated Sobolev inequality could be extended to submanifolds in a huge class of Riemannian manifolds. The universal constant obtained depends only on the dimension of the submanifold. A sort of applications to the submanifold theory and geometric analysis have been obtained from that inequality. It is worthwhile to point out that, by a Nash Theorem, every Riemannian manifold can be seen as a submanifold in some Euclidean space. In the same spirit, Carron obtained a Hardy inequality for submanifolds in Euclidean spaces. In this paper, we will prove the Hardy, weighted Sobolev and Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg inequalities, as well as some of their derivatives, as Galiardo-Nirenberg and Heisenberg-Pauli-Weyl inequalities, for submanifolds in a class of manifolds, that include, the Cartan-Hadamard ones.

Minimal immersions of Riemannian manifolds in products of space forms

In this note, we give natural extensions to cylinders and tori of a classical result due to T. Takahashi about minimal immersions into spheres. More precisely, we deal with Euclidean isometric immersions whose projections in R^N satisfy a spectral condition of their Laplacian.
