Dynamical analysis on heavy-ion fusion reactions near Coulomb barrier

The shell correction is proposed in the improved isospin dependent quantum molecular dynamics (ImIQMD) model, which plays an important role in heavy-ion fusion reactions near Coulomb barrier. By using the ImIQMD model, the static and dynamical fusion barriers, dynamical barrier distribution in the fusion reactions are analyzed systematically. The fusion and capture excitation functions for a series of reaction systems are calculated and compared with experimental data. It is found that the fusion cross sections for neutron-rich systems increase obviously, and the strong shell effects of two colliding nuclei result in a decrease of the fusion cross sections at the sub-barrier energies. The lowering of the dynamical fusion barriers favors the enhancement of the sub-barrier fusion cross sections, which is related to the nucleon transfer and the neck formation in the fusion reactions.

Coulomb effects on the formation of proton halo nuclei

The exotic structures in the 2s_{1/2} states of five pairs of mirror nuclei ^{17}O-^{17}F, ^{26}Na-^{26}P, ^{27}Mg-^{27}P, ^{28}Al-^{28}P and ^{29}Si-^{29}P are investigated with the relativistic mean-field (RMF) theory and the single-particle model (SPM) to explore the role of the Coulomb effects on the proton halo formation. The present RMF calculations show that the exotic structure of the valence proton is more obvious than that of the valence neutron of its mirror nucleus, the difference of exotic size between each mirror nuclei becomes smaller with the increase of mass number A of the mirror nuclei and the ratios of the valence proton and valence neutron root-mean-square (RMS) radius to the matter radius in each pair of mirror nuclei all decrease linearly with the increase of A. In order to interpret these results, we analyze two opposite effects of Coulomb interaction on the exotic structure formation with SPM and find that the contribution of the energy level shift is more important than that of the Coulomb barrier for light nuclei. However, the hindrance of the Coulomb barrier becomes more obvious with the increase of A. When A is larger than 34, Coulomb effects on the exotic structure formation will almost become zero because its two effects counteract with each other.

Finite range effects of nuclear force in intermediate energy heavy ion collisions

Within the framework of an isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamics model, the zero-range 2-body part of the Skyrme interaction is replaced by a finite-range Gaussian 2-body interaction. From the transverse momentum analysis in the reaction of system $^{93}$Nb + $^{93}$Nb at energy of 400 MeV/nucleon and impact parameter $b$=3 fm, it is shown that the finite-range nuclear force enhances the transverse momentum of the reaction system and it can partly replace the momentum dependent part of the nucleon-nucleon interaction.

Isospin effects on squeeze-out flow in heavy-ion collisions

The squeeze-out flow in reactions of $^{124}$Sn + $^{124}$Sn and $^{124}$Ba + $^{124}$Ba at different incident energies for different impact parameters is investigated by means of an isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamics model. For the first time, it is found that the more neutron-rich system ($% ^{124}$Sn + $^{124}$Sn) exhibits weaker squeeze-out flow. This isospin dependence of the squeeze-out flow is shown to mainly result from the isospin dependence of nucleon-nucleon cross section and the symmetry energy.

Proton fraction in neutron stars

The proton fraction in ${\sl β}$-stable neutron stars is investigated within the framework of the Skyrme-Hartree-Fock theory using the extended Skyrme effective interaction for the first time. The calculated results show that the proton fraction disappears at high density, which implies that the pure neutron matter may exist in the interior of neutron stars. The incompressibility of the nuclear equation of state is shown to be more important to determine the proton fraction. Meanwhile, it is indicated that the addition of muons in neutron stars will change the proton fraction. It is also found that the higher-order terms of the nuclear symmetry energy have obvious effects on the proton fraction and the parabolic law of the nuclear symmetry energy is not enough to determine the proton fraction.

Isospin effects on rotational flow in intermediate energy heavy ion collisions

Within the framework of an isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamics model, the rotational flow in reactions of $^{58}$Fe + $^{58}$Fe and $^{58}$% Ni + $^{58}$Ni at 40 MeV/nucleon for different impact parameters is investigated by analyzing the mid-rapidity azimuthal distribution. The rotational observables are also calculated semiquantitatively. For the first time, it is found that the more neutron-rich system ($^{58}$Fe + $^{58}$Fe) exhibits stronger rotational collective flow. This isospin dependence of rotational collective flow is more appreciable in semi-peripheral collisions and it is shown to mainly result from the isospin dependence of nucleon-nucleon cross section rather than the symmetry energy. Meanwhile, it is indicated that the rotational flow depends strongly on the impact parameter.
