Exploring SMEFT Couplings Using the Forward-Backward Asymmetry in Neutral Current Drell-Yan Production at the LHC

Neutral current Drell-Yan (DY) lepton-pair production is considered in the framework of the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT). Using the open-source fit platform xFitter, we investigate the impact of high-statistics measurements of the neutral current DY (NCDY) forward-backward asymmetry $A_{\rm{FB}}$ near the weak boson mass scale in the present and forthcoming stages of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Besides recovering earlier results on the $A_{\rm{FB}}$ sensitivity to parton distribution functions, we analyze the precision determination of $Z$-boson couplings to left-handed and right-handed $u$-quarks and $d$-quarks, and explore Beyond-Standard-Model contributions using the SMEFT framework. We perform a sensitivity study and comment on the role of the $A_{\rm{FB}}$ asymmetry for the electroweak SMEFT fit and precision $Z$-boson physics at the LHC and high-luminosity HL-LHC.

Track Finding at Belle II

This paper describes the track-finding algorithm that is used for event reconstruction in the Belle II experiment operating at the SuperKEKB B-factory in Tsukuba, Japan. The algorithm is designed to balance the requirements of a high efficiency to find charged particles with a good track parameter resolution, a low rate of spurious tracks, and a reasonable demand on CPU resources. The software is implemented in a flexible, modular manner and employs a diverse selection of global and local track-finding algorithms to achieve an optimal performance.

Search for $B^{+} \to K^{+} ν\bar ν$ decays with an inclusive tagging method at the Belle II experiment

This contribution illustrates a new search for the flavor-changing neutral-current decay ${B^+ \to K^+ ν\bar ν}$ performed by the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB asymmetric-energy electron-positron collider. In this study, a sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $63\, \rm{fb}^{-1}$ collected at the $\rm Υ(4S)$ resonance and an additional sample of $9\, \rm{fb}^{-1}$ collected at an energy $60\, \rm MeV$ below the resonance are used. A novel technique, based on an inclusive tagging method and exploiting the topological features of the ${B^+ \to K^+ ν\bar ν}$ decay, is employed and it provides a higher signal efficiency with respect to the methods used in the previous searches. No significant signal is observed. An upper limit of $4.1 \times 10^{-5}$ is set on the ${B^+ \to K^+ ν\bar ν}$ branching fraction at the $90\, \%$ confidence level.
