Bootstrap Calibration of Inductive Voltage Dividers at Inmetro

The Laboratory of Metrology in Electrical Standards of Inmetro (Lampe) has built, in 2010, a transformer which is able to perform inductive voltage divider ratio calibrations using the bootstrap method. This transformer was idealized according to the design adopted at Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), and has very similiar characteristics to that system. Lampe's bootstrap system is not yet in operation, and DIT calibrations are presently being carried according to a triangular set of measurements involving standard capacitors. This method, though, has uncertanties limited to a few parts in 1E6; the primary objective of Lampe's bootstrap system project is to achieve uncertanties at least 10 times smaller than this.

Non-equilibrium Thermodynamics of a Resistance Element

This paper describes the thermal characterization of a coaxial calculable resistor, part of traceability chain of the capacitance unit to the quantum Hall effect, in construction at Inmetro. The realization of the capacitance unit (farad) is related to the QHE by a calculable coaxial resistor, and three low-uncertainty coaxial bridges: the two-terminal and the four-terminal bridges, already in operation at Inmetro; and the quadrature bridge, in final stage of construction.

Power-law Interpolation of AC-DC Differences

In this work we present a general method, commonly applied to the numerical analysis of stochastic models, to interpolate AC-DC differences (usually denoted by the greek letter $δ$) between calibration points in thermal transfer standards. This method assigns a power-law behaviour to AC-DC differences, solely under the assumption that $δ$ must be some smooth-varying function of voltage and frequency. We argue it may be straightfowardly applied to all working ranges of the standards, with no distinction.
