Mitigating Hallucinations in Large Vision-Language Models via Causal Route Gating

Large vision-language models (LVLMs) often hallucinate content that is fluent yet unsupported by the image, limiting their reliability in real-world deployment. We show that a key failure mode arises from route competition: even when visual tokens receive attention, the final token decision can be dominated by the textual pathway, causing the decoder to follow linguistic priors over visual evidence. To mitigate this, we propose a training-free, decision-aligned intervention that decomposes each attention head into a visual route and a text route, and estimates their token-level effects using an efficient one-forward/one-gradient approximation. These estimates reveal route conflict within heads and identify prior-dominant ones, enabling selective suppression of only the text route while keeping the visual route intact. Across five benchmarks spanning discriminative and generative settings, our method consistently reduces hallucination-related errors across models with limited impact on overall multimodal performance, while incurring a modest inference-time overhead.

Variational Inference Optimized Using the Curved Geometry of Coupled Free Energy

We introduce an optimization framework for variational inference based on the coupled free energy, extending variational inference techniques to account for the curved geometry of the coupled exponential family. This family includes important heavy-tailed distributions such as the generalized Pareto and the Student's t. By leveraging the coupled free energy, which is equal to the coupled evidence lower bound (ELBO) of the inverted probabilities, we improve the accuracy and robustness of the learned model. The coupled generalization of Fisher Information metric and the affine connection. The method is applied to the design of a coupled variational autoencoder (CVAE). By using the coupling for both the distributions and cost functions, the reconstruction metric is derived to still be the mean-square average loss with modified constants. The novelty comes from sampling the heavy-tailed latent distribution with its associated coupled probability, which has faster decaying tails. The result is the ability to train a model robust against severe outliers, while assuring that the training process is stable. The Wasserstein-2 or Fr\'echet Inception Distance of the reconstructed CelebA images shows the CVAE has a 3\% improvement over the VAE after 5 epochs of training.

Diagnosis and Pathogenic Analysis of Autism Spectrum Disorder Using Fused Brain Connection Graph

We propose a model for diagnosing Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) using multimodal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data. Our approach integrates brain connectivity data from diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and functional MRI (fMRI), employing graph neural networks (GNNs) for fused graph classification. To improve diagnostic accuracy, we introduce a loss function that maximizes inter-class and minimizes intra-class margins. We also analyze network node centrality, calculating degree, subgraph, and eigenvector centralities on a bimodal fused brain graph to identify pathological regions linked to ASD. Two non-parametric tests assess the statistical significance of these centralities between ASD patients and healthy controls. Our results reveal consistency between the tests, yet the identified regions differ significantly across centralities, suggesting distinct physiological interpretations. These findings enhance our understanding of ASD's neurobiological basis and offer new directions for clinical diagnosis.

New Quantitative Deformation Lemma and New Mountain Pass Theorem

In this paper, we obtain a new quantitative deformation Lemma so that we can obtain more critical points, especially for supinf critical value $c_1$, $x=\varphi^{-1}(c_1)$ is a new critical point. For $infmax$ critical value $c_2$, we can obtain two new critical points $x = 0$ (valley point) and $x = e$(peak point) ,comparing with Willem's variant of the mountain pass theorem of Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz,in which $\varphi(e)\leq\varphi(0)<c_2$, but in our new mountain pass theorem, $ \varphi(e)=c_2$.
