On the boundedness for the bilinear quadratic functional given by arbitrary strips

This study provides initial results on the boundedness of the (smooth) bilinear quadratic functional defined by an arbitrary collection of disjoint strips. The square function under consideration is a combination between the well-known Rubio de Francia square function from the linear setting with the bilinear Hilbert transform's singularity structure, which involves modulation invariance.

Biparameter $\text{BMO}$ under the action of a rotation

In this work, we aim to study the action of composing by a rotation on the biparameter $\text{BMO}$ space in $\mathbb{R}^2$. This $\text{BMO}$ space is not preserved by a rotation since it relies on the structure of axis-parallel rectangles. We will quantify this fact by interpolation inequalities. One straightforward application of the interpolation inequalities is a boundedness property of directional Hilbert transforms.

Boundedness of some multi-parameter fiber-wise multiplier operators

We prove $L^p$ estimates for various multi-parameter bi- and trilinear operators with symbols acting on fibers of the two-dimensional functions. In particular, this yields estimates for the general bi-parameter form of the twisted paraproduct studied in arXiv:1011.6140.

A bilinear Rubio de Francia inequality for arbitrary rectangles

Let $\mathscr{R}$ be a collection of disjoint dyadic rectangles $R$ with sides parallel to the axes, let $π_R$ denote the non-smooth bilinear projection onto $R$ \[ π_R (f,g)(x):=\iint \mathbf{1}_{R}(ξ,η) \widehat{f}(ξ) \widehat{g}(η) e^{2πi (ξ+ η) x} dξdη\] and let $r>2$. We show that the bilinear Rubio de Francia operator associated to $\mathscr{R}$ given by \[ f,g \mapsto \Big(\sum_{R\in\mathscr{R}} |π_{R} (f,g)|^r \Big)^{1/r} \] is $L^p \times L^q \rightarrow L^s$ bounded whenever $1/p + 1/q = 1/s$, $r'<p,q<r$. This extends from squares to rectangles a previous result by the same authors, and as a corollary extends in the same way a previous result from Benea and the first author for smooth projections, albeit in a reduced range.

Bilinear Rubio de Francia inequalities for collections of non-smooth squares

Let $Ω$ be a collection of disjoint dyadic squares $ω$, let $π_ω$ denote the non-smooth bilinear projection onto $ω$ \[ π_ω(f,g)(x):=\int\int \mathbf{1}_ω(ξ,η) \widehat{f}(ξ) \widehat{g}(η) e^{2πi (ξ+ η) x} d ξdη\] and let $r>2$. We show that the bilinear Rubio de Francia operator \[ \Big(\sum_{ω\inΩ} |π_ω (f,g)|^r \Big)^{1/r} \] is $L^p \times L^q \rightarrow L^s$ bounded with constant independent of $Ω$ whenever $1/p + 1/q = 1/s$, $r'<p,q<r$, $r'/2 < s < r/2$.

We pursue the study of a sparse control for a singular operator. More precisely, we describe how one can track some properties of the initial operator, through such a control and describe also some applications: boundedness of the adjoint of a Riesz transform and of the Leray projector. Moreover, we will be interested in giving a new insight on the sparse domination through the oscillations and the localized square functions. Also, we will reveal a connection between the good intervals of the sparse domination and the atomic decomposition for a function in a Hardy space.

Sharp weighted norm estimates beyond Calderón-Zygmund theory

We dominate non-integral singular operators by adapted sparse operators and derive optimal norm estimates in weighted spaces. Our assumptions on the operators are minimal and our result applies to an array of situations, whose prototype are Riesz transforms / multipliers or paraproducts associated with a second order elliptic operator. It also applies to such operators whose unweighted continuity is restricted to Lebesgue spaces with certain ranges of exponents $(p_0,q_0)$ where $1\le p_0<2<q_0\le \infty$. The norm estimates obtained are powers $α$ of the characteristic used by Auscher and Martell. The critical exponent in this case is $\mathfrak{p}=1+\frac{p_0}{q'_0}$. We prove $α=\frac1{p-p_0}$ when $p_0<p\le \mathfrak{p}$ and $α= \frac{q_0-1}{q_0-p}$ when $\mathfrak{p}\le p<q_0$. In particular, we are able to obtain the sharp $A_2$ estimates for non-integral singular operators which do not fit into the class of Calderón-Zygmund operators. These results are new even in the Euclidean space and are the first ones for operators whose kernel does not satisfy any regularity estimate.

Sobolev algebras through heat kernel estimates

On a doubling metric measure space $(M,d,μ)$ endowed with a "carré du champ", let $\mathcal{L}$ be the associated Markov generator and $\dot L^{p}_α(M,\mathcal{L},μ)$ the corresponding homogeneous Sobolev space of order $0<α<1$ in $L^p$, $1 0}$ for the spaces $\dot L^{p}_α(M,\mathcal{L},μ) \cap L^\infty(M,μ)$ to be algebras for the pointwise product. Two approaches are developed, one using paraproducts (relying on extrapolation to prove their boundedness) and a second one through geometrical square functionals (relying on sharp estimates involving oscillations). A chain rule and a paralinearisation result are also given. In comparison with previous results ([29,11]), the main improvements consist in the fact that we neither require any Poincaré inequalities nor $L^p$-boundedness of Riesz transforms, but only $L^p$-boundedness of the gradient of the semigroup. As a consequence, in the range $p\in(1,2]$, the Sobolev algebra property is shown under Gaussian upper estimates of the heat kernel only.

Riesz transforms through reverse Hölder and Poincaré inequalities

We study the boundedness of Riesz transforms in $L^p$ for $p>2$ on a doubling metric measure space endowed with a gradient operator and an injective, $ω$-accretive operator $L$ satisfying Davies-Gaffney estimates. If $L$ is non-negative self-adjoint, we show that under a reverse Hölder inequality, the Riesz transform is always bounded on $L^p$ for $p$ in some interval $[2,2+\varepsilon)$, and that $L^p$ gradient estimates for the semigroup imply boundedness of the Riesz transform in $L^q$ for $q \in [2,p)$. This improves results of \cite{ACDH} and \cite{AC}, where the stronger assumption of a Poincaré inequality and the assumption $e^{-tL}(1)=1$ were made. The Poincaré inequality assumption is also weakened in the setting of a sectorial operator $L$. In the last section, we study elliptic perturbations of Riesz transforms.

Gaussian heat kernel bounds through elliptic Moser iteration

On a doubling metric measure space endowed with a "carré du champ", we consider $L^p$ estimates $(G_p)$ of the gradient of the heat semigroup and scale-invariant $L^p$ Poincaré inequalities $(P_p)$. We show that the combination of $(G_p)$ and $(P_p)$ for $p\ge 2$ always implies two-sided Gaussian heat kernel bounds. The case $p=2$ is a famous theorem of Saloff-Coste, of which we give a shorter proof, without parabolic Moser iteration. We also give a more direct proof of the main result in \cite{HS}. This relies in particular on a new notion of $L^p$ Hölder regularity for a semigroup and on a characterization of $(P_2)$ in terms of harmonic functions.

Sweeping process by prox-regular sets in Riemannian Hilbert manifolds

In this paper, we deal with sweeping processes on (possibly infinite-dimensional) Riemannian Hilbert manifolds. We extend the useful notions (proximal normal cone, prox-regularity) already defined in the setting of a Hilbert space to the framework of such manifolds. Especially we introduce the concept of local prox-regularity of a closed subset in accordance with the geometrical features of the ambient manifold and we check that this regularity implies a property of hypomonotonicity for the proximal normal cone. Moreover we show that the metric projection onto a locally prox-regular set is single-valued in its neighborhood. Then under some assumptions, we prove the well-posedness of perturbed sweeping processes by locally prox-regular sets.

Sobolev norm estimates for a class of bilinear multipliers

We consider bilinear multipliers that appeared as a distinguished particular case in the classification of two-dimensional bilinear Hilbert transforms by Demeter and Thiele [9]. In this note we investigate their boundedness on Sobolev spaces. Furthermore, we study structurally similar operators with symbols that also depend on the spatial variables. The new results build on the existing L^p estimates for a paraproduct-like operator previously studied by the authors in [5] and [10]. Our primary intention is to emphasize the analogies with Coifman-Meyer multipliers and with bilinear pseudodifferential operators of order 0.

On the Hörmander classes of bilinear pseudodifferential operators II

Boundedness properties for pseudodifferential operators with symbols in the bilinear Hörmander classes of sufficiently negative order are proved. The results are obtained in the scale of Lebesgue spaces and, in some cases, end-point estimates involving weak-type spaces and BMO are provided as well. From the Lebesgue space estimates, Sobolev ones are then easily obtained using functional calculus and interpolation. In addition, it is shown that, in contrast with the linear case, operators associated with symbols of order zero may fail to be bounded on products of Lebesgue spaces.

Propagation of low regularity for solutions of nonlinear PDEs on a Riemannian manifold with a sub-Laplacian structure

Following \cite{B2}, we introduce a notion of para-products associated to a semi-group. We do not use Fourier transform arguments and the background manifold is doubling, endowed with a sub-laplacian structure. Our main result is a paralinearization theorem in a non-euclidean framework, with an application to the propagation of regularity for some nonlinear PDEs.

New Calderón-Zygmund decompositions

We state a new Calderon-Zygmund decomposition for Sobolev spaces on a doubling Riemannian manifold. Our hypotheses are weaker than those of the already known decomposition which used classical Poincare inequalities.

On Maximal L^p-regularity

The aim of this paper is to propose weak assumptions to prove maximal L^q regularity for Cauchy problem: du/dt - Lu(t)=f(t). Mainly we only require "off-diagonal" estimates on the real semigroup (e^{tL})_{t>0} to obtain maximal L^q regularity. The main idea is to use a one kind of Hardy space H^1 adapted to this problem and then use interpolation results. These techniques permit us to prove weighted maximal regularity too.
