Nash structure of curves over a valued field and tame henselian rationality

We provide a new proof, model-theoretic and geometric in nature, of the tame henselian rationality theorem of Kuhlmann. The proof takes place within the framework of stable completions of algebraic varieties over a valued field. It relies on the proof of two main results of independent interest: a Nash structure theorem for the stable completion of an algebraic curve and a tame descent theorem for abstract polydiscs.

An orbifold formula for algebraic stacks

We study motivic integration on varieties that are birational to smooth algebraic stacks and prove a generalization of the orbifold formula for varieties with finite quotient singularities. This leads in particular to a new way of computing stringy E-functions and we also give applications to the study of klt-singularities. Along the way we study Cluckers-Loeser motivic integration on algebraic stacks, which might be of independent interest. The proof relies furthermore on ideas from Hrushovski-Kazhdan integration and Bruhat-Tits theory.

A motivic Fundamental Lemma

In this paper we prove motivic versions of the Langlands-Shelstad Fundamental Lemma and Ngô's Geometric Stabilization. To achieve this, we follow the strategy from the recent proof by Groechenig, Wyss and Ziegler which avoided the use of perverse sheaves using instead $p$-adic integration and Tate duality. We make a key use of a construction of Denef and Loeser which assigns a virtual motive to any definable set in the theory of pseudo-finite fields.

Motivic Mellin transforms

This work brings Mellin transforms into the realm of motivic integration. The new, larger class of motivic functions is stable under motivic Mellin and Fourier transforms, with general Fubini results and change of variables formulas. It specializes to $p$-adic integrals and $p$-adic Mellin transforms uniformly in $p$, with transfer principles between zero and positive characteristic local fields. In particular, it generalizes previous set-ups of motivic integration with Fubini from among others [16, 17, 18, 29, 9] and simplifies some aspects on the way by using the ideas of [10].

Tropical functions on a skeleton

We prove a general finiteness statement for the ordered abelian group of tropical functions on skeleta in Berkovich analytifications of algebraic varieties. Our approach consists in working in the framework of stable completions of algebraic varieties, a model-theoretic version of Berkovich analytifications, for which we prove a similar result, of which the former one is a consequence.

Motivic Integration on the Hitchin Fibration

We prove that the moduli spaces of twisted $\mathrm{SL}_n$ and $\mathrm{PGL}_n$-Higgs bundles on a smooth projective curve have the same (stringy) class in the Grothendieck ring of rational Chow motives. On the level of Hodge numbers this was conjectured by Hausel and Thaddeus, and recently proven by Groechenig, Ziegler and the second author. To adapt their argument, which relies on p-adic integration, we use a version of motivic integration with values in rational Chow motives and the geometry of Néron models to evaluate such integrals on Hitchin fibers.

Uniform Yomdin-Gromov parametrizations and points of bounded height in valued fields

We prove a uniform version of non-Archimedean Yomdin-Gromov parametrizations in a definable context with algebraic Skolem functions in the residue field. The parametrization result allows us to bound the number of F_q[t]-points of bounded degrees of algebraic varieties, uniformly in the cardinality q of the finite field F_q and the degree, generalizing work by Sedunova for fixed q. We also deduce a uniform non-Archimedean Pila-Wilkie theorem, generalizing work by Cluckers-Comte-Loeser.

Distributions and wave front sets in the uniform non-archimedean setting

We study some constructions on distributions in a uniform $p$-adic context, and also in large positive characteristic, using model theoretic methods. We introduce a class of distributions which we call distributions of ${\mathscr C}^{\mathrm{exp}}$-class and which is based on the notion of ${\mathscr C}^{\mathrm{exp}}$-class functions from [6]. This class of distributions is stable under Fourier transformation and has various forms of uniform behavior across non-archimedean local fields. We study wave front sets, pull-backs and push-forwards of distributions of this class. In particular we show that the wave front set is always equal to the complement of the zero locus of a ${\mathscr C}^{\mathrm{exp}}$-class function. We first revise and generalize some of the results of Heifetz that he developed in the $p$-adic context by analogy to results about real wave front sets by Hörmander. In the final section, we study sizes of neighborhoods of local constancy of Schwartz-Bruhat functions and their push forwards in relation to discriminants.

A non-archimedean Ax-Lindemann theorem

We prove a statement of Ax-Lindemann type for the uniformization of products of Mumford curves whose associated fundamental groups are non-abelian Schottky subgroups of $\mathop{\rm PGL}(2,\bar{\mathbf Q_p})$ contained in $\mathop{\rm PGL}(2,\bar{\mathbf Q})$. In particular, we characterize bi-algebraic irreducible subvarieties of the uniformization.

Motivic height zeta functions

Let $C$ be a projective smooth connected curve over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero, let $F$ be its field of functions, let $C_0$ be a dense open subset of $C$. Let $X$ be a projective flat morphism to $C$ whose generic fiber $X_F$ is a smooth equivariant compactification of $G$ such that $D=X_F\setminus G_F$ is a divisor with strict normal crossings, let $U$ be a surjective and flat model of $G$ over $C_0$. We consider a motivic height zeta function, a formal power series with coefficients in a suitable Grothendieck ring of varieties, which takes into account the spaces of sections $s$ of $X\to C$ of given degree with respect to (a model of) the log-anticanonical divisor $-K_{X_F}(D)$ such that $s(C_0)$ is contained in $U$. We prove that this power series is rational, that its "largest pole" is at $\mathbf L^{-1}$, the inverse of the class of the affine line in the Grothendieck ring, and compute the "order" of this pole as a sum of dimensions of various Clemens complexes at places of $ C\setminus C_0$. This is a geometric analogue of a result over number fields by the first author and Yuri Tschinkel (Duke Math. J., 2012). The proof relies on the Poisson summation formula in motivic integration, established by Ehud Hrushovski and David Kazhdan (Moscow Math. J, 2009).

Berkovich spaces embed in Euclidean spaces

Let K be a field that is complete with respect to a nonarchimedean absolute value such that K has a countable dense subset. We prove that the Berkovich analytification V^an of any d-dimensional quasi-projective scheme V over K embeds in R^{2d+1}. If, moreover, the value group of K is dense in R_{>0} and V is a curve, then we describe the homeomorphism type of V^an by using the theory of local dendrites.
