Degenerating Hermitian metrics and spectral geometry of the canonical bundle

Let $(X,h)$ be a compact and irreducible Hermitian complex space of complex dimension $m$. In this paper we are interested in the Dolbeault operator acting on the space of $L^2$ sections of the canonical bundle of $reg(X)$, the regular part of $X$. More precisely let $\overline{\mathfrak{d}}_{m,0}:L^2Ω^{m,0}(reg(X),h)\rightarrow L^2Ω^{m,1}(reg(X),h)$ be an arbitrarily fixed closed extension of $\overline{\partial}_{m,0}:L^2Ω^{m,0}(reg(X),h)\rightarrow L^2Ω^{m,1}(reg(X),h)$ where the domain of the latter operator is $Ω_c^{m,0}(reg(X))$. We establish various properties such as closed range of $\overline{\mathfrak{d}}_{m,0}$, compactness of the inclusion $\mathcal{D}(\overline{\mathfrak{d}}_{m,0})\hookrightarrow L^2Ω^{m,0}(reg(X),h)$ where $\mathcal{D}(\overline{\mathfrak{d}}_{m,0})$, the domain of $\overline{\mathfrak{d}}_{m,0}$, is endowed with the corresponding graph norm, and discreteness of the spectrum of the associated Hodge-Kodaira Laplacian $\overline{\mathfrak{d}}_{m,0}^*\circ \overline{\mathfrak{d}}_{m,0}$ with an estimate for the growth of its eigenvalues. Several corollaries such as trace class property for the heat operator associated to $\overline{\mathfrak{d}}_{m,0}^*\circ \overline{\mathfrak{d}}_{m,0}$, with an estimate for its trace, are derived. Finally in the last part we provide several applications to the Hodge-Kodaira Laplacian in the setting of both compact irreducible Hermitian complex spaces with isolated singularities and complex projective surfaces.

On the $L^2$-$\overline{\partial}$-cohomology of certain complete Kähler metrics

Let $V$ be a compact and irreducible complex space of complex dimension $v$ whose regular part is endowed with a complete Hermitian metric $h$. Let $π:M\rightarrow V$ be a resolution of $V$. Under suitable assumptions on $h$ we prove that $$H^{v,q}_{2,\overline{\partial}}(\operatorname{reg}(V),g)\cong H^{v,q}_{\overline{\partial}}(M),\ q=0,...,v.$$ Then we show that the previous isomorphism applies to the case of Saper-type Kähler metrics and to the case of complete Kähler metrics with finite volume and pinched negative sectional curvatures.

Sobolev spaces and Bochner Laplacian on complex projective varieties and stratified pseudomanifolds

Let $V\subset \mathbb{C}\mathbb{P}^n$ be an irreducible complex projective variety of complex dimension $v$ and let $g$ be the Kähler metric on $\reg(V)$, the regular part of $V$, induced by the Fubini Study metric of $\mathbb{C}\mathbb{P}^n$. In this setting Li and Tian proved that $W^{1,2}_0(\reg(V),g)=W^{1,2}(\reg(V),g)$, that the natural inclusion $W^{1,2}(\reg(V),g)\hookrightarrow L^2(\reg(V),g)$ is a compact operator and that the heat operator associated to the Friedrich extension of the scalar Laplacian $Δ_0:C^{\infty}_c(\reg(V))\rightarrow C^{\infty}_c(\reg(V))$, that is $e^{-tΔ_0^{\mathcal{F}}}:L^2(\reg(V),g)\rightarrow L^2(\reg(V),g)$, is a trace class operator. The goal of this paper is to provide an extension of the above result to the case of Sobolev spaces of sections and symmetric Schrödinger type operators with potential bounded from below where the underling riemannian manifold is the regular part of a complex projective variety endowed with the Fubini-Study metric or the regular part of a stratified pseudomanifold endowed an iterated edge metric.

Scattering theory of the Hodge-Laplacian under a conformal perturbation

Let $g$ and $\tilde{g}$ be Riemannian metrics on a noncompact manifold $M$, which are conformally equivalent. We show that under a very mild \emph{first order} control on the conformal factor, the wave operators corresponding to the Hodge-Laplacians $Δ_g$ and $Δ_{\tilde{g}}$ acting on differential forms exist and are complete. We apply this result to Riemannian manifolds with a bounded geometry and more specifically, to warped product Riemannian manifolds with a bounded geometry. Finally, we combine our results with some explicit calculations by Antoci to determine the absolutely continuous spectrum of the Hodge-Laplacian on $j$-forms for a large class of warped product metrics.

On the space of connections having non-trivial twisted harmonic spinors

We consider Dirac operators on odd-dimensional compact spin manifolds which are twisted by a product bundle. We show that the space of connections on the twisting bundle which yield an invertible operator has infinitely many connected components if the untwisted Dirac operator is invertible and the dimension of the twisting bundle is sufficiently large.

On the $L^2-$Poincaré duality for incomplete riemannian manifolds: a general construction with applications

Let $(M,g)$ be an open, oriented and incomplete riemannian manifold of dimension $m$. Under some general conditions we show that it is possible to build a Hilbert complex $(L^2Ω^i(M,g),d_{\mathfrak{M},i})$ such that its cohomology groups, labeled with $H^i_{2,\mathfrak{M}}(M,g)$, satisfy the following properties: \begin{itemize} \item $H^i_{2,\mathfrak{M}}(M,g)=ker(d_{max,i})/\im(d_{min,i})$ \item $H^i_{2,\mathfrak{M}}(M,g)\cong H^{m-i}_{2,\mathfrak{M}}(M,g)$ (Poincaré duality holds) \end{itemize} Finally in the rest of the paper we study some properties of this complex with particular attention to the sufficient conditions which make it a Fredholm complex.

Poincaré duality, Hilbert complexes and geometric applications

Let $(M,g)$ an open and oriented riemannian manifold. The aim of this paper is to study some properties of the two following sequences of $L^2$ cohomology groups: $H^i_{2,m\rightarrow M}(M,g)$ defined as the image $\im(H^i_{2,min}(M,g)\rightarrow H^i_{2,max}(M,g))$ and $\bar{H}^i_{2,m\rightarrow M}(M,g)$ defined as $\im(\bar{H}^i_{2,min}(M,g)\rightarrow \bar{H}^i_{2,max}(M,g))$. We show, under certain hypothesis, that the first sequence is the cohomology of a suitable Hilbert complex which contains the minimal one and is contained in the maximal one. We also show that when the second sequence is finite dimensional then Poincaré duality holds for it and that, in the same assumptions, when $dim(M)\equiv0\ mod\ 4$ we can use it to define a $L^2$ signature on $M$. Moreover we show several applications to the intersection cohomology of compact smoothly stratified pseudomanifolds and we get some results about the Friedrichs extension $Δ_{i}^\mathcal{F}$ of $Δ_{i}$.

General perversities and L^2 de Rham and Hodge theorems for stratified pseudomanifolds

Given a compact stratified pseudomanifold with a Thom-Mather stratification and a class of riemannian metrics over its regular part, we study the relationships between the $L^{2}$ de Rham and Hodge cohomology and the intersection cohomology of $X$ associated to some perversities. More precisely, to a kind of metric which we call \emph{quasi edge with weights}, we associate two general perversities in the sense of G. Friedman, $p_{g}$ and its dual $q_{g}$. We then show that the absolute $L^{2}$ Hodge cohomology is isomorphic to the maximal $L^{2}$ de Rham cohomology and this is in turn isomorphic to the intersection cohomology associated to the perversity $q_{g}$. Moreover we prove that the relative $L^{2}$ Hodge cohomology is isomorphic to the minimal $L^{2}$ de Rham cohomology and this is in turn isomorphic to the intersection cohomology associated to the perversity $p_{g}$.
