Simulations for the JEM-EUSO program with ESAF

JEM-EUSO is an international program for the development of space based Ultra High Cosmic Ray observatories. The program consists of a series of missions which are either under development or in the data analysis phase. The instruments consist of wide field of view telescopes, which operate in the UV range, designed to detect the fluorescence light emitted by extended air showers in the atmosphere. We describe the simulation software ESAF and show the physical assumptions done in it. We present here the implementation of the POEMMA, K-EUSO, TUS, Mini-EUSO, EUSO-SPB and EUSO-TA detectors in the simulation software ESAF.

White paper on EUSO-SPB2

EUSO-SPB2 is a second generation Extreme Universe Space Observatory (EUSO) on a Super-Pressure Balloon (SPB). This document describes the physics capabilities, the proposed technical design of the instruments, and the simulation and analysis software.

The JEM-EUSO program

JEM-EUSO is an international collaboration for the development of space--based Ultra High Energy Cosmic Ray (UHECR) detectors. The instrument consists of a wide Field Of View (FOV) camera for the detection of the UV light emitted by Extensive Air Showers (EAS) in the atmosphere. Within the JEM-EUSO framework several pathfinders have been developed or are in course of development: EUSO-TA, EUSO-Balloon, EUSO-SPB and Mini-EUSO. For the near future the K-EUSO detector is foreseen to detect cosmic rays from space. In this paper we present the JEM-EUSO project and give an overview of the pathfinders and of their results.
