Mixed superposition rules for Lie systems, compatible geometric structures, and applications

Mixed superposition rules are, in short, a method to describe the general solutions of a time-dependent system of first-order differential equations, a so-called Lie system, in terms of particular solutions of other ones. This article is concerned with the theory of mixed superposition rules and their connections with geometric structures. We provide methods to obtain mixed superposition rules for systems admitting an imprimitive finite-dimensional Lie algebra of vector fields or given by a semidirect sum. In particular, we develop a novel mixed coalgebra method for Lie systems that are Hamiltonian relative to a Dirac structure, which is quite general, although we restrict to symplectic and contact manifolds in applications. This provides us with practical methods to derive mixed superposition rules and extends the coalgebra method to a new field of application while solving minor technical issues of the known formalism. Throughout the paper, we apply our results to physical systems including Schrödinger Lie systems, Riccati systems, time-dependent Calogero--Moser systems with external forces, time-dependent harmonic oscillators, and time-dependent thermodynamical systems, where general solutions can be obtained from reduced system solutions. Our results are finally extended to Lie systems of partial differential equations and a new source of such PDE Lie systems, related to the formal construction of solutions close to a given particular solution of PDEs, is provided. An example based on the Tzitzéica equation and a related system illustrating the potential applicability of these methods is given.

The Dunkl two-photon/Schrödinger algebras and their applications

The work introduces the novel Dunkl two-photon and Dunkl-Schrödinger algebras as reflection-extended counterparts of the standard six-dimensional two-photon and Schrödinger algebras. These extensions are realized through the presence of an involutive generator representing a reflection, and they reduce to the undeformed two-photon and Schrödinger algebras in the absence of this additional generator in an appropriate limit. For both algebraic structures, which are shown to be isomorphic, we derive the associated cubic polynomial Casimir invariant. Furthermore, we identify several structurally significant subalgebras and compute their corresponding quadratic Casimir invariants. Representations of the Dunkl two-photon algebra are constructed on the Fock space of the one-dimensional Dunkl harmonic oscillator and subsequently translated into holomorphic realizations within the associated Dunkl-Fock-Bargmann representation. Finally, for the Dunkl-Schrödinger algebra, we present an explicit vector field realization in terms of the Dunkl spatial derivative, while keeping time continuous. When applied to the Casimir invariants of the aforementioned subalgebras, this realization yields a family of six nontrivial Dunkl differential-difference equations in $1+1$ dimensions, including, in particular, a Dunkl version of the well-known heat-Schrödinger equation.

Generalized quantum Zernike Hamiltonians: Polynomial Higgs-type algebras and algebraic derivation of the spectrum

We consider the quantum analog of the generalized Zernike systems given by the Hamiltonian: $$\hat{\mathcal{H}}_N =\hat{p}_1^2+\hat{p}_2^2+\sum_{k=1}^N γ_k (\hat{q}_1 \hat{p}_1+\hat{q}_2 \hat{p}_2)^k ,$$ with canonical operators $\hat{q}_i,\, \hat{p}_i$ and arbitrary coefficients $γ_k$. This two-dimensional quantum model, besides the conservation of the angular momentum, exhibits higher-order integrals of motion within the enveloping algebra of the Heisenberg algebra in two dimensions. By constructing suitable combinations of these integrals, we uncover a polynomial Higgs-type symmetry algebra that, through an appropriate change of basis, gives rise to a deformed oscillator algebra. The associated structure function $Φ$ is shown to factorize into two commuting components $Φ=Φ_1 Φ_2$. This framework enables an algebraic determination of the possible energy spectra of the model for the cases $1\le N \le 5$, the case $N=1$ being canonically equivalent to the harmonic oscillator. Based on these findings, we propose two conjectures which generalize the results for all $N\ge 1$ and any value of the coefficients $γ_k$. In addition, all of these results can be interpreted as higher-order superintegrable perturbations of the original quantum Zernike system corresponding to $N=2$, which are also analyzed and applied to the isotropic oscillator on the sphere, hyperbolic and Euclidean spaces

Contact Lie systems on Riemannian and Lorentzian spaces: from scaling symmetries to curvature-dependent reductions

We propose an adaptation of the notion of scaling symmetries for the case of Lie-Hamilton systems, allowing their subsequent reduction to contact Lie systems. As an illustration of the procedure, time-dependent frequency oscillators and time-dependent thermodynamic systems are analyzed from this point of view. The formalism provides a novel method for constructing contact Lie systems on the three-dimensional sphere, derived from recently established Lie-Hamilton systems arising from the fundamental four-dimensional representation of the symplectic Lie algebra $\mathfrak{sp}(4,\mathbb{R})$. It is shown that these systems are a particular case of a larger hierarchy of contact Lie systems on a special class of three-dimensional homogeneous spaces, namely the Cayley-Klein spaces. These include Riemannian spaces (sphere, hyperbolic and Euclidean spaces), pseudo-Riemannian spaces (anti-de Sitter, de Sitter and Minkowski spacetimes), as well as Newtonian or non-relativistic spacetimes. Under certain topological conditions, some of these systems retrieve well-known two-dimensional Lie-Hamilton systems through a curvature-dependent reduction.

Generalized classical and quantum Zernike Hamiltonians

A superintegrable generalization of the classical and quantum Zernike systems is reviewed. The corresponding Hamiltonians are endowed with higher-order integrals and can be interpreted as higher-order superintegrable perturbations of the 2D spherical (Higgs), hyperbolic, and Euclidean harmonic oscillators. As a new result, the complete polynomial Higgs-type symmetry algebra of the generalized classical system is presented. For the generalized quantum system, the symmetry algebra and the spectra are provided for a representative case.

An infinite family of Dunkl type superintegrable curved Hamiltonians through coalgebra symmetry: Oscillator and Kepler-Coulomb models

This work aims to bridge the gap between Dunkl superintegrable systems and the coalgebra symmetry approach to superintegrability, and subsequently to recover known models and construct new ones. In particular, an infinite family of $N$-dimensional quasi-maximally superintegrable quantum systems with reflections, sharing the same set of $2N-3$ quantum integrals, is introduced. The result is achieved by introducing a novel differential-difference realization of $\mathfrak{sl}(2, \mathbb{R})$ and then applying the coalgebra formalism. Several well-known maximally superintegrable models with reflections appear as particular cases of this general family, among them, the celebrated Dunkl oscillator and the Dunkl-Kepler-Coulomb system. Furthermore, restricting to the case of "hidden" quantum quadratic symmetries, maximally superintegrable curved oscillator and Kepler-Coulomb Hamiltonians of Dunkl type, sharing the same underlying $\mathfrak{sl}(2, \mathbb{R})$ coalgebra symmetry, are presented. Namely, the Dunkl oscillator and the Dunkl-Kepler-Coulomb system on the $N$-sphere and hyperbolic space together with two models which can be interpreted as a one-parameter superintegrable deformation of the Dunkl oscillator and the Dunkl-Kepler-Coulomb system on non-constant curvature spaces. In addition, maximally superintegrable generalizations of these models, involving non-central potentials, are also derived on flat and curved spaces. For all specific systems, at least an additional quantum integral is explicitly provided, which is related to the Dunkl version of a (curved) Demkov-Fradkin tensor or a Laplace-Runge-Lenz vector.

Nonlinear Lie-Hamilton systems: $t$-Dependent curved oscillators and Kepler-Coulomb Hamiltonians

The Lie-Hamilton approach for $t$-dependent Hamiltonians is extended to cover the so-called nonlinear Lie-Hamilton systems, which are no longer related to a linear $t$-dependent combination of a basis of a finite-dimensional Lie algebra of functions $\mathcal{W}$, but an arbitrary $t$-dependent function on $\mathcal{W}$. This novel formalism is accomplished through a detailed analysis of related structures, such as momentum maps and generalized distributions, together with the extension of the Poisson coalgebra method to a $t$-dependent frame, in order to systematize the construction of constants of the motion for nonlinear systems. Several relevant relations between nonlinear Lie-Hamilton systems, Lie-Hamilton systems, and collective Hamiltonians are analyzed. The new notions and tools are illustrated with the study of the harmonic oscillator, Hénon-Heiles systems and Painlevé trascendents within a $t$-dependent framework. In addition, the formalism is carefully applied to construct oscillators with a $t$-dependent frequency and Kepler-Coulomb systems with a $t$-dependent coupling constant on the $n$-dimensional sphere, Euclidean and hyperbolic spaces, as well as on some spaces of non-constant curvature.

Generalized Buchdahl equations as Lie-Hamilton systems from the 'book' and oscillator algebras: Quantum deformations and their general solution

We revisit the nonlinear second-order differential equations $$ \ddot{x}(t)=a (x )\dot{x}(t)^2+b(t)\dot{x}(t) $$ where $a(x)$ and $b(t)$ are arbitrary functions on their argument from the perspective of Lie-Hamilton systems. For the particular choice $a(x)=3/x$ and $b(t)=1/t$, these equations reduce to the Buchdahl equation considered in the context of General Relativity. It is shown that these equations are associated to the 'book' Lie algebra $\mathfrak{b}_2$, determining a Lie-Hamilton system for which the corresponding $t$-dependent Hamiltonian and the general solution of the equations are given. The procedure is illustrated considering several particular cases. We also make use of the quantum deformation of $\mathfrak{b}_2$ with quantum deformation parameter $z$ (where $q={\rm e}^z$), leading to a deformed generalized Buchdahl equation. Applying the formalism of Poisson-Hopf deformations of Lie-Hamilton systems, we derive the corresponding deformed $t$-dependent Hamiltonian, as well as its general solution. The generalized Buchdahl equation is further extended to the oscillator Lie-Hamilton algebra $\mathfrak{h}_4\supset \mathfrak{b}_2$, together with its quantum deformation, and the corresponding (deformed) equations are also analyzed for their exact solutions. The presence of the quantum deformation parameter $z$ is interpreted as the introduction of an integrable perturbation of the (initial) generalized Buchdahl equation, which is described in detail in its linear approximation. Finally, it is also shown that, under quantum deformations, the higher-dimensional deformed generalized Buchdahl equations from either the book or the oscillator algebras do not reduce to a sum of copies of the initial system but to intrinsic coupled systems governed by $z$.

A representation-theoretical approach to higher-dimensional Lie-Hamilton systems: The symplectic Lie algebra $\mathfrak{sp}(4,\mathbb{R})$

A new procedure for the construction of higher-dimensional Lie-Hamilton systems is proposed. This method is based on techniques belonging to the representation theory of Lie algebras and their realization by vector fields. The notion of intrinsic Lie-Hamilton system is defined, and a sufficiency criterion for this property given. Novel four-dimensional Lie-Hamilton systems arising from the fundamental representation of the symplectic Lie algebra $\mathfrak{sp}(4,\mathbb{R})$ are obtained and proved to be intrinsic. Two distinguished subalgebras, the two-photon Lie algebra $\mathfrak{h}_{6}$ and the Lorentz Lie algebra $\mathfrak{so}(1,3)$, are also considered in detail. As applications, coupled time-dependent systems which generalize the Bateman oscillator and the one-dimensional Caldirola-Kanai models are constructed, as well as systems depending on a time-dependent electromagnetic field and generalized coupled oscillators. A superposition rule for these systems, exhibiting interesting symmetry properties, is obtained using the coalgebra method.

Lie-Hamilton systems on Riemannian and Lorentzian spaces from conformal transformations and some of their applications

We propose a generalization of two classes of Lie-Hamilton systems on the Euclidean plane to two-dimensional curved spaces, leading to novel Lie-Hamilton systems on Riemannian spaces (flat $2$-torus, product of hyperbolic lines, sphere and hyperbolic plane), pseudo-Riemannian spaces (anti-de Sitter, de Sitter, and Minkowski spacetimes), as well as to semi-Riemannian spaces (Newtonian or non-relativistic spacetimes). The vector fields, Hamiltonian functions, symplectic form and constants of the motion of the Euclidean classes are recovered by a contraction process. The construction is based on the structure of certain subalgebras of the so-called conformal algebras of the two-dimensional Cayley-Klein spaces. These curved Lie-Hamilton classes allow us to generalize naturally the Riccati, Kummer-Schwarz and Ermakov equations on the Euclidean plane to curved spaces, covering both the Riemannian and Lorentzian possibilities, and where the curvature can be considered as an integrable deformation parameter of the initial Euclidean system.

Solutions by quadratures of complex Bernoulli differential equations and their quantum deformation

It is shown that the complex Bernoulli differential equations admitting the supplementary structure of a Lie-Hamilton system related to the book algebra $\mathfrak{b}_2$ can always be solved by quadratures, providing an explicit solution of the equations. In addition, considering the quantum deformation of Bernoulli equations, their canonical form is obtained and an exact solution by quadratures is deduced as well. It is further shown that the approximations of $k^{th}$-order in the deformation parameter from the quantum deformation are also integrable by quadratures, although an explicit solution cannot be obtained in general. Finally, the multidimensional quantum deformation of the book Lie-Hamilton systems is studied, showing that, in contrast to the multidimensional analogue of the undeformed system, the resulting system is coupled in a non-trivial form.

Noncommutative spacetimes versus noncommutative spaces of geodesics

The aim of this contribution is twofold. First, we show that when two (or more) different quantum groups share the same noncommutative spacetime, such an 'ambiguity' can be resolved by considering together their corresponding noncommutative spaces of geodesics. In any case, the latter play a mathematical/physical role by themselves and, in some cases, they can be interpreted as deformed phase spaces. Second, we explicitly show that noncommutative spacetimes can be reproduced from 'extended' noncommutative spaces of geodesics which are those enlarged by the time translation generator. These general ideas are described in detail for the $κ$-Poincaré and $κ$-Galilei algebras.

Generalized time-dependent SIS Hamiltonian models: Exact solutions and quantum deformations

The theory of Lie-Hamilton systems is used to construct generalized time-dependent SIS epidemic Hamiltonians with a variable infection rate from the 'book' Lie algebra. Although these are characterized by a set of non-autonomous nonlinear and coupled differential equations, their corresponding exact solution is explicitly found. Moreover, the quantum deformation of the book algebra is also considered, from which the corresponding deformed SIS Hamiltonians are obtained and interpreted as perturbations in terms of the quantum deformation parameter of previously known SIS systems. The exact solutions for these deformed systems are also obtained.

Exact solutions and superposition rules for Hamiltonian systems generalizing time-dependent SIS epidemic models with stochastic fluctuations

Using the theory of Lie-Hamilton systems, formal generalized time-dependent Hamiltonian systems that enlarge a recently proposed SIS epidemic model with a variable infection rate are considered. It is shown that, independently on the particular interpretation of the time-dependent coefficients, these systems generally admit an exact solution, up to the case of the maximal extension within the classification of Lie-Hamilton systems, for which a superposition rule is constructed. The method provides the algebraic frame to which any SIS epidemic model that preserves the above mentioned properties is subjected. In particular, we obtain exact solutions for generalized SIS Hamiltonian models based on the book and oscillator algebras, denoted by $\mathfrak{b}_2$ and $\mathfrak{h}_4$, respectively. The last generalization corresponds to a SIS system possessing the so-called two-photon algebra symmetry $\mathfrak{h}_6$, according to the embedding chain $\mathfrak{b}_2\subset \mathfrak{h}_4\subset \mathfrak{h}_6$, for which an exact solution cannot generally be found, but a nonlinear superposition rule is explicitly given.

Higher-order superintegrable momentum-dependent Hamiltonians on curved spaces from the classical Zernike system

We consider the classical momentum- or velocity-dependent two-dimensional Hamiltonian given by $$\mathcal H_N = p_1^2 + p_2^2 +\sum_{n=1}^N γ_n(q_1 p_1 + q_2 p_2)^n ,$$ where $q_i$ and $p_i$ are generic canonical variables, $γ_n$ are arbitrary coefficients, and $N\in \mathbb N$. For $N=2$, being both $γ_1,γ_2$ different from zero, this reduces to the classical Zernike system. We prove that $\mathcal H_N$ always provides a superintegrable system (for any value of $γ_n$ and $N$) by obtaining the corresponding constants of the motion explicitly, which turn out to be of higher-order in the momenta. Such generic results are not only applied to the Euclidean plane, but also to the sphere and the hyperbolic plane. In the latter curved spaces, $\mathcal H_N $ is expressed in geodesic polar coordinates showing that such a new superintegrable Hamiltonian can be regarded as a superposition of the isotropic 1:1 curved (Higgs) oscillator with even-order anharmonic curved oscillators plus another superposition of higher-order momentum-dependent potentials. Furthermore, the symmetry algebra determined by the constants of the motion is also studied, giving rise to a $(2N-1)$th-order polynomial algebra. As a byproduct, the Hamiltonian $\mathcal H_N $ is interpreted as a family of superintegrable perturbations of the classical Zernike system. Finally, it is shown that $\mathcal H_N$ (and so the Zernike system as well) is endowed with a Poisson $\mathfrak{sl}(2,\mathbb R)$-coalgebra symmetry which would allow for further possible generalizations that are also discussed.

A general approach to noncommutative spaces from Poisson homogeneous spaces: Applications to (A)dS and Poincaré

In this contribution we present a general procedure that allows the construction of noncommutative spaces with quantum group invariance as the quantization of their associated coisotropic Poisson homogeneous spaces coming from a coboundary Lie bialgebra structure. The approach is illustrated by obtaining in an explicit form several noncommutative spaces from (3+1)D (A)dS and Poincaré coisotropic Lie bialgebras. In particular, we review the construction of the $κ$-Minkowski and $κ$-(A)dS spacetimes in terms of the cosmological constant $Λ$. Furthermore, we present all noncommutative Minkowski and (A)dS spacetimes that preserved a quantum Lorentz subgroup. Finally, it is also shown that the same setting can be used to construct the three possible 6D $κ$-Poincaré spaces of time-like. Some open problems are also addressed.

$κ$-Galilean and $κ$-Carrollian noncommutative spaces of worldlines

The noncommutative spacetimes associated to the $κ$-Poincaré relativistic symmetries and their "non-relativistic" (Galilei) and "ultra-relativistic" (Carroll) limits are indistinguishable, since their coordinates satisfy the same algebra. In this work, we show that the three quantum kinematical models can be differentiated when looking at the associated spaces of time-like worldlines. Specifically, we construct the noncommutative spaces of time-like geodesics with $κ$-Galilei and $κ$-Carroll symmetries as contractions of the corresponding $κ$-Poincaré space and we show that these three spaces are defined by different algebras. In particular, the $κ$-Galilei space of worldlines resembles the so-called Euclidean Snyder model, while the $κ$-Carroll space turns out to be commutative. Furthermore, we identify the map between quantum spaces of geodesics and the corresponding noncommutative spacetimes, which requires to extend the space of geodesics by adding the noncommutative time coordinate.

All noncommutative spaces of $κ$-Poincaré geodesics

Noncommutative spaces of geodesics provide an alternative way of introducing noncommutative relativistic kinematics endowed with quantum group symmetry. In this paper we present explicitly the seven noncommutative spaces of time-, space- and light-like geodesics that can be constructed from the time-, space- and light- versions of the $κ$-Poincaré quantum symmetry in (3+1) dimensions. Remarkably enough, only for the light-like (or null-plane) $κ$-Poincaré deformation the three types of noncommutative spaces of geodesics can be constructed, while for the time-like and space-like deformations both the quantum time-like and space-like geodesics can be defined, but not the light-like one. This obstruction comes from the constraint imposed by the coisotropy condition for the corresponding deformation with respect to the isotropy subalgebra associated to the given space of geodesics, since all these quantum spaces are constructed as quantizations of the corresponding classical coisotropic Poisson homogeneous spaces. The known quantum space of geodesics on the light cone is given by a five-dimensional homogeneous quadratic algebra, and the six nocommutative spaces of time-like and space-like geodesics are explicitly obtained as six-dimensional nonlinear algebras. Five out of these six spaces are here presented for the first time, and Darboux generators for all of them are found, thus showing that the quantum deformation parameter $κ^{-1}$ plays exactly the same algebraic role on quantum geodesics as the Planck constant $\hbar$ plays in the usual phase space description of quantum mechanics.
