Non-axisymmetric (2+1) black holes with Dym boundary conditions

We present the spectrum of stationary black hole solutions associated with the first non-trivial member of the Dym family of boundary conditions. The analysis combines the holonomy conditions provided by the Chern-Simons formulation of AdS$_3$ gravity with the periodic solutions of the stationary Dym equation. The resulting spacetimes are characterized by two positive real parameters, two positive integers, and a relative phase, generically describing stationary, non-axisymmetric black holes.

Encoding and Enumerating Acyclic Orientations of Graphs

In this work we study the acyclic orientations of graphs. We obtain an encoding of the acyclic orientations of the complete $p$-partite graph with size of its parts $n_1,n_2,\ldots,n_p$ via a vector with $p$ symbols and length $n=n_1+n_2+\ldots+n_p$ when the parts are fixed but not the vertices in each part. We also give a recursive way to construct all acyclic orientations of a complete multipartite graph, this construction can be done by computer easily in order $\mathcal{O}(n)$. Furthermore, we obtain a closed formula for non-isomorphic acyclic orientations of both the complete multipartite graphs and the complete multipartite graphs with a directed spanning tree. Moreover, we obtain a closed formula for the number of acyclic orientations of a complete multipartite graph $K_{n_1,\ldots,n_p}$ with labelled vertices. Finally, we obtain a way encode all acyclic orientations of an arbitrary graph as a permutation code. Using the codification mentioned above we obtain sharp upper and lower bounds of the number of acyclic orientations of a graph.

1/c deformations of AdS$_3$ boundary conditions and the Dym hierarchy

This work introduces a novel family of boundary conditions for AdS$_3$ General Relativity, constructed through a polynomial expansion in negative integer powers of the Brown-Henneaux central charge. The associated dynamics is governed by the Dym hierarchy of integrable equations. It is shown that the infinite set of Dym conserved charges generates an abelian asymptotic symmetry group. Additionally, these boundary conditions encompass black hole solutions, whose thermodynamic properties are examined.

Probing Jovian Decametric Emission with the Long Wavelength Array Station 1

New observations of Jupiter's decametric radio emissions have been made with the Long Wavelength Array Station 1 (LWA1) which is capable of making high quality observations as low as 11 MHz. Full Stokes parameters were determined for bandwidths of 16 MHz. Here we present the first LWA1 results for the study of six Io-related events at temporal resolutions as fine as 0.25 ms. LWA1 data show excellent spectral detail in Jovian DAM such as simultaneous left hand circular (LHC) and right hand circular (RHC) polarized Io-related arcs and source envelopes, modulation lane features, S-bursts structures, narrow band N-events, and interactions between S-bursts and N-events. The sensitivity of the LWA1 combined with the low radio frequency interference environment allow us to trace the start of the LHC Io-C source region to much earlier CMLIII than typically found in the literature. We find the Io-C starts as early as CMLIII = 230 degrees at frequencies near 11 MHz. This early start of the Io-C emission may be valuable for refining models of the emission mechanism. We also detect modulation lane structures that appear continuous across LHC and RHC emissions, suggesting that both polarizations may originate from the same hemisphere of Jupiter. We present a study of rare S-bursts detected during an Io-D event and show drift rates are consistent with those from other Io-related sources. Finally, S-N burst events are seen in high spectral and temporal resolution and our data strongly support the co-spatial origins of these events.

The Transit Ingress and the Tilted Orbit of the Extraordinarily Eccentric Exoplanet HD 80606b

We present the results of a transcontinental campaign to observe the 2009 June 5 transit of the exoplanet HD 80606b. We report the first detection of the transit ingress, revealing the transit duration to be 11.64 +/- 0.25 hr and allowing more robust determinations of the system parameters. Keck spectra obtained at midtransit exhibit an anomalous blueshift, giving definitive evidence that the stellar spin axis and planetary orbital axis are misaligned. The Keck data show that the projected spin-orbit angle is between 32-87 deg with 68.3% confidence and between 14-142 deg with 99.73% confidence. Thus the orbit of this planet is not only highly eccentric (e=0.93), but is also tilted away from the equatorial plane of its parent star. A large tilt had been predicted, based on the idea that the planet's eccentric orbit was caused by the Kozai mechanism. Independently of the theory, it is noteworthy that all 3 exoplanetary systems with known spin-orbit misalignments have massive planets on eccentric orbits, suggesting that those systems migrate differently than lower-mass planets on circular orbits.
