Thermodynamic aspects of FLRW Universe in Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet domains

For an FLRW model, thermodynamic phase transitions are investigated in the Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity framework. Using the work density, the equation of state is derived, and the criticality conditions are employed to determine the critical points where possible phase transitions occur. The appearance of phase transitions strongly depends on the space-time dimension $n$. In this concern, for $n=5$, there is an ``inverted'' first-order phase transition, where the Gibbs free energy presents a swallow-tail behavior. On the other hand, for $n=6$, the system does not exhibit first order phase transition. In such a case, the Gibbs free energy presents a cusp with stable and unstable branches. For the present study, the mentioned phenomena are present for an expanding cosmology, where the matter distribution filling the Universe corresponds to a speculative matter distribution with an equation of state parameter greater than one. Interestingly, there are no phase transitions for dimensions greater than $n=6$, nor for expanding or contracting cosmological scenarios. To gain more insights into the system, the microstructure is analyzed using thermodynamic geometry to quantify the normalized scalar curvature. This invariant shows that an attractive interaction dominates the phase-transition region. Additionally, the topological thermodynamic analysis was performed employing Duan's off-shell map. This study reveals that for $n=5$ we observe a winding number interchange twice, indicating an unstable small/large branch phase transition through an intermediate stable phase. For $n=6$ the number of exotic defects is one. Consequently, we observe a stable small branch and an unstable large branch.

Quantum Black Holes: Perihelion Advance, Quasi Normal Modes and Classical/ Topological Thermodynamics

We report on some properties of a quantum black hole obtained recently. The correction to the Newtonian gravitational potential is proportional to a coupling $α$, which is the only free parameter of the theory. We constrain the coupling using the perihelion advance, we compute the quasi-normal modes for scalar (both massless and massive) and electromagnetic perturbations. We find that all modes computed here are complex numbers characterized by a positive real part and a negative imaginary part, while both parts increase with the mass of the test scalar field. Also thermodynamics properties are investigated from the classical and topological point of view. In this regard, the quantum black hole exhibits the same behavior as the classical Reissner-Nordström space-time, that is, it presents stable/unstable branches in the Gibbs potential, one generating point and a topological charge $W=0$.

Rotating Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton Black Hole as a Particle Accelerator

Similar to particle accelerators, black holes also have the ability to accelerate particles, generating significant amounts of energy through particle collisions. In this study, we examine the horizon and spacetime structures of a rotating black hole within the framework of Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton gravity. Additionally, we extend the analysis to explore particle collisions and energy extraction near this black hole using the Banados-Silk-West mechanism. Our findings reveal that the mass and angular momentum of the colliding particles significantly influence the center of mass energy, more so than the parameters of the black hole itself. Furthermore, we apply the Banados-Silk-West mechanism to massless particles, particularly photons, while disregarding their intrinsic spin in plasma; an aspect that has not been previously explored. The Banados-Silk-West mechanism cannot be directly applied, as the refractive index condition only permits photon propagation, meaning that massive particles in vacuum cannot be included in this study. We derive the propagation conditions for photons and analyze photon collisions by treating them as massive particles in a dispersive medium. The impact of the plasma parameter on the extracted center of mass energy is also examined. Our results show that the plasma parameter has a relatively weak and unchanged effect on the center of mass energy across all cases, indicating that energy losses due to friction within the medium are a contributing factor.

On static and rotating decoupled black holes without inner horizons

Through gravitational decoupling using the extended minimal geometric deformation, a new family of static and rotating ``hairy'' black holes is provided. The background of these models is a generic Schwarzschild metric containing as special cases, the Schwarzschild, Schwarzschild-dS, Reissner-Nordstrom and Reissner-Nordstrom-dS black holes. Assuming the Kerr-Schild condition and a general equation of state, the unknown matter sector is solved given rise to black hole space-times without a Cauchy horizon, transforming the original time-like singularity of the Reissner-Nordstrom and Reissner-Nordstrom-dS black holes into a space-like singularity. This fact is preserved for the rotating version of all these solutions.

Some optical properties of rotating wormhole in Bopp-Podolsky electrodynamics

In this work, we consider a static wormhole in Bopp-Podolsky electrodynamics and convert it into its rotating counterpart by reducing it into Morris-Thorne form. We further study the null geodesics and effective potential along with the shadows for inner and outer unstable orbits for specific choices of parameters. It is found that for some cases smooth shadow curves are formed and for a few cases, the shadows formed are cuspy. All parameters have a significant impact on the shadows except for the parameter $b$ when either $a$ or $Q$ are kept small. We also analyze the gravitational lensing in the strong regime, considering that the observer and the source are on opposite sides of the throat. For this situation, we explore in detail the behavior of the deflection angle, Einstein rings and lensing observables.

Tracing cosmic evolution through Weyl-Type f(Q,T) gravity model: theoretical analysis and observational validation

We investigate the cosmic evolution of the Universe across different cosmological epochs in exponential Weyl-type $f(Q, T)$ gravity model. The theoretical analysis involves a detailed dynamical system approach, where we define dimensionless variables and derive a system of linear differential equations to identify critical points corresponding to the radiation, matter and de Siter phase. The findings show the transition from deceleration to acceleration phase, with stable and unstable critical points characterizing different phases of the evolution. In the second approach, we validate the theoretical predictions by using observational data from Cosmic Chronometers ($CC$) and $Pantheon^+$ datasets. We constrain the Hubble parameter and subsequently analysed the other cosmological and geometrical parameters. In this approach also, the transition from deceleration to acceleration has been confirmed, with the equation of state (EoS) parameter approaching $Λ$CDM at late times. The further validate this, we present the behaviour of state finder pair. We obtain the age of the Universe $13.81$ Gyr according to $CC$ data and $13.96$ Gyr with the $Pantheon^+$ dataset. The model behaviour in both the approaches shows strong agreement in the late-time behavior of the Universe. The evolutionary behaviour of Hubble parameter and distance modulus, reinforcing the reliability of the Weyl-type $f(Q, T)$ gravity model in describing the expansion history of Universe.

Cosmological FLRW phase transitions and micro-structure under Kaniadakis statistics

This article is devoted to the study of the thermodynamics phase transitions and critical phenomena of an FLRW cosmological model under the so-called Kaniadakis's statistics. The equation of state is derived from the corrected Friedmann field equations and the thermodynamics unified first law. This reveals the existence of non-trivial critical points where a first-order phase transition takes place. The system behaves as an "inverted" van der Waals fluid in this concern. Interestingly, the numerical values of the critical exponents are the same as those of the van der Waals system. Besides, to obtain more insights into the thermodynamics description, the so-called Ruppeiner's geometry is studied through the normalized scalar curvature, disclosing this invariant zone where the system undergoes repulsive/attractive interactions. Near the critical point, this curvature provides again the same critical exponent and universal constant value as for van der Waals fluid.

The Fate of the Universe Evolution in the Quadratic Form of Ricci-Gauss-Bonnet Cosmology

We investigate the possibility of future singularity due to the accelerating expansion of the Universe. It has been found that the gravitational theory comprises Ricci scalar $R$ and Gauss-Bonnet invariant $\mathcal{G}$, known as $F(R,\mathcal{G})$ gravity, which can be viewed in the quadratic form. Three models are presented using Hubble parameters to represent a finite and infinite future. The parameters of the models are analyzed on the basis of their physical and geometrical properties. This study also explores the properties of the modified gravitational theory, and neither the future singularity nor the little or pseudo rip is posed as threats to the fate of the Universe. We present scalar perturbation approaches to perturbed evolution equations and demonstrate their stability.

Unified first law of thermodynamics in Gauss-Bonnet gravity on an FLRW background

Employing the thermodynamic unified first law through the thermodynamic-gravity conjecture, in this article, we derive for a FLRW universe the Friedmann equations in the framework of Gauss-Bonnet gravity theory. To do this, we project this generalized first law along the Kodama vector field and along the direction of an orthogonal vector to the Kodama vector. The second Friedmann equation is obtained by projecting on the Kodama vector, while the first is obtained by projecting along the flux on the Cauchy hypersurfaces. This result does not assume a priory temperature and an entropy, so the Clausius relation is not used here. Nevertheless, it is used to obtain the corresponding Gauss-Bonnet entropy. In this way, the validity of the generalized second law of thermodynamics is proved for the Gauss-Bonnet gravity theory.

Gravitationally decoupled Non-Schwarzschild black holes and wormhole space-times

In this article, using gravitational decoupling by means of minimal geometric deformation approach, we obtain a new spherically symmetric and static black hole solution. To progress, we close the system by assuming that the average pressure of the $θ$-sector is vanishing. Also, we tackle the problem regarding how, for a given minimally deformed black hole solution, one can connect it to a wormhole space-time.

Propagation of anisotropic gravitational and electromagnetic waves at very high energies

We analyze the dispersion relation for an anisotropic gravity-electromagnetic theory at very high energies. In particular for photons of very high energy. We start by introducing the anisotropic gravity-gauge vector field model. It is invariant under spacelike diffeomorphisms, time parametrization, and U(1) gauge transformations. It includes high-order spacelike derivatives as well as polynomial expressions of the Riemann and field strength tensor fields. It is based on the Hořava-Lifshitz anisotropic proposal. We show its consistency, and the stability of the Minkowski ground state. Finally, we determine the exact zone at which the physical degrees of freedom, i.e. the transverse-traceless tensorial degrees of freedom and the transverse vectorial degrees of freedom propagate according to a linear wave equation. This is so, in spite of the fact that there exists in the zone a non-trivial Newtonian background of the same order. The wave equation contains spatial derivatives up to the sixth order, in the lowest order it exactly matches the relativistic wave equation. We then analyze the dispersion relation at very high energies in the context of recent experimental data. The qualitative predictions of the proposed model, concerning the propagation of highly energetic photons, are different from the ones obtained from the modified dispersion relation of the LIV models.

Gravitational-gauge vector interaction in the Hořava-Lifshitz framework

An anisotropic model describing gravity--vector gauge coupling at all energy scales is presented. The starting point is the 4+1 dimensional non--projectable Hořava--Lifshitz gravity theory subject to a geometrical restriction. Renormalizability arguments require all possible interactions in the potential up to terms with $z=4$ spatial derivatives on the geometrical tensor fields: the Riemann and Weyl tensors. The latter being necessary on a 4+1 dimensional formulation. The dimensional reduction to 3+1 dimensions give rise to a model invariant under {foliation--preserving diffeomorphisms} (FDiff) and $U(1)$ symmetry groups. The reduced theory on the {kinetic conformal} (KC) point ($λ=1/3$), propagates the same spectrum of the Einstein--Maxwell theory. Moreover, at low energies, on the IR point $α=0$, $β=1$, its field equations are exactly the Einstein--Maxwell ones in a particular gauge condition. The Minkowski ground state is stable provided several restrictions on the coupling parameters are satisfied, they are explicitly obtained. The quantum propagators of the physical degrees of freedom are obtained and after an analysis of the first and second class constraints the renormalizability by power counting is proved, provided that the aforementioned restrictions on the coupling parameters are satisfied.

Minimally deformed wormholes inspired by noncommutative geometry

In this article, new wormhole solutions in the framework of General Relativity are presented. Taking advantage of gravitational decoupling by means of minimal geometric deformation approach and, the so-called noncommutative geometry Gaussian and Lorentzian density profiles, the seminal Morris-Thorne space-time is minimally deformed providing new asymptotically wormhole solutions. Constraining the signature of some parameters, the dimensionless constant $α$ is bounded using the flare-out and energy conditions. In both cases, this results in an energy-momentum tensor that violates energy conditions, thus the space-time is threading by exotic matter. However, it is possible to obtain a positive defined density at the wormhole throat and its neighborhood. To further support the study a thoroughly graphical analysis has been performed.

Bouncing cosmology in modified gravity with higher-order Gauss-Bonnet curvature term

In this paper, we have studied the bouncing behavior of the cosmological models formulated at the background of the Hubble function in the F(R, G) theory of gravity, where R and G denote the Ricci scalar and Gauss-Bonnet invariant. The actions of bouncing cosmology are studied under consideration of different viable models and can resolve the difficulty of singularity in standard Big-Bang cosmology. Both models show bouncing behavior and satisfy the bouncing cosmological properties. Models based on dynamical, deceleration, and energy conditions indicate the accelerating behavior at the late evolution time. Phantom at the bounce epoch is analogous to a quintessence behavior. Finally, we formulate the perturbed evolution equations and investigate the stability of two bouncing solutions.

Representation of compact stars using the black string set--up

This work is devoted to provide a way of representing $4D$ spherically symmetric and static compact stellar configurations into a $5D$ space time, using the black string framework. We write the four and five dimensional line elements and the four and five dimensional energy momentum tensor such that the four and five dimensional quantities are related by a function $A(z)$, where $z$ represents to the extra dimension. Remarkably, one consequence of our chosen form for the line element, for the energy momentum tensor and for $A(z)$, is the fact that the $5D$ equations are reduced to the usual form of the four dimensional equations of motion. Also, the five dimensional conservation equation adopts the form of the four dimensional conservation equation. It is worth mentioning that, although our methodology is simple, this form of reduction could serve to represent other types of four dimensional objects into an extra dimension in future works. Furthermore, under our assumptions the sign of the pressure along the extra dimension is given by the trace of the four dimensional energy momentum tensor. Furthermore, our simple election for the function $A(z)$ modifies some features of the induced 4--dimensional compact stellar configuration, such as the mass--radius relation, the momentum of inertia, the central values of the thermodynamic variables, to name a few. Besides, the topology of this model is ${S}^{2}\times {S}^{1}$ and not the ${S}^{3}$ topology of the 5--dimensional structures.

f(R) wormholes embedded in a pseudo--Euclidean space $E^{5}$

This work is devoted to the study of analytic wormhole solutions within the framework of $f(R)$ gravity theory. To check the possibility of having wormhole structures satisfying energy conditions, by means of the class I approach the pair $\{Φ(r), b(r)\}$ describing the wormhole geometry has been obtained. Then, in conjunction with a remarkably $f(R)$ gravity model, the satisfaction of the null and weak energy conditions at the wormhole throat and its neighborhood is investigated. To do so, some constant parameters have been bounded restricting the space parameter. In this concern, the $f(R)$ gravity model and its derivatives are playing a major role, specially in considering the violation of the non--existence theorem. Furthermore, the shape function should be bounded from above by the Gronwall--Bellman shape function, where the red--shift function plays a relevant role. By analyzing the main properties at the spatial stations and tidal accelerations at the wormhole throat, possibilities and conditions for human travel are explored.

Wave zone of the Hořava--Lifshitz gravity coupled to a gauge vector

We consider the anisotropic gravity-gauge vector coupling in the non-projectable Hořava-Lifshitz theory at the kinetic conformal point, in the low energy regime. We show that the canonical formulation of the theory, evaluated at its constraints, reduces to a canonical formulation solely in terms of the physical degrees of freedom. The corresponding reduced Hamilton defines the ADM energy of the system. We obtain its explicit expression and discuss its relation to the ADM energy of the Einstein-Maxwell theory. We then show that there exists, in this theory, a well--defined wave zone. In it, the physical degrees of freedom ı.e., the transverse--traceless tensorial modes associated to the gravitational sector and the transverse vectorial modes associated to the gauge vector interaction satisfy independent linear wave equations, without any coupling between them. The Newtonian part of the anisotropic theory, very relevant near the sources, does not affect the free propagation of the physical degrees of freedom in the wave zone. It turns out that both excitations, the gravitational and the vectorial one, propagate with the same speed $\sqrtβ$, where $β$ is the coupling parameter of the scalar curvature of the three dimensional leaves of the foliation defining the Hořava--Lifshitz geometry.

Bouncing cosmology in extended gravity and its reconstruction as dark energy model

In this paper, we have presented a bouncing cosmological model of the Universe in an extended theory of gravity. The dynamical behaviour of the model obtained from the flat FLRW space-time along with the violation of null energy condition have been shown. The geometrical parameters show singularity behaviour at the bouncing epoch. The parameters involved in the scale factor play a major role in the bouncing behaviour. In addition, the coupling parameter that resulted in the minimal matter-geometry coupling in the extended gravity has significant role to avoid the singularity of equation of state parameter at the bouncing epoch. Using a linear homogeneous perturbation calculation, we show the stability of the model.
