On definable groups and D-group in certain fields with a generic derivation

We continue our earlier study of finite dimensional definable groups in models of the the model companion of an o-minimal L-theory T expanded by a generic derivation as in [F-K]. We generalize Buium's notion of an algebraic D-group to L-definable D-groups, namely (G,s), where G is a L-definable group in a model of T, and s is an L-definable group section into the prolongation of G. Our main theorem says that every definable group of finite dimension in a model of the theory is definably isomorphic to the ``sharp'' points of an L-definable D-group. We obtain analogous results when T is either the theory of p-adically closed fields or the theory of pseudo-finite fields of characteristic zero.

On definable groups in real closed fields with a generic derivation, and related structures

We study finite-dimensional groups definable in models of the theory of real closed fields with a generic derivation (also known as CODF). We prove that any such group definably embeds in a semialgebraic group. We extend the results to several more general contexts; strongly model complete theories of large geometric fields with a generic derivation, model complete o-minimal expansions of RCF with a generic derivation, open theories of topological fields with a generic derivation. We also give a general theorem on recovering a definable group from generic data in the context of geometric structures.

Differential exponential topological fields

We axiomatize a class of existentially closed exponential fields equipped with an $E$-derivation. We apply our results to the field of real numbers endowed with $exp(x)$ the classical exponential function defined by its power series expansion and to the field of p-adic numbers endowed with the function $exp(px)$ defined on the $p$-adic integers where $p$ is a prime number strictly bigger than $2$ (or with $exp(4x)$ when $p=2$).

Definable groups in topological fields with a generic derivation

We continue the study of a class of topological $\mathcal{L}$-fields endowed with a generic derivation $\delta$, focussing on describing definable groups. We show that one can associate to an $\mathcal{L}_{\delta}$ definable group a type $\mathcal{L}$-definable topological group. We use the group configuration tool in o-minimal structures as developed by K. Peterzil.

Exponential ideals and a Nullstellensatz

We prove a version of a Nullstellensatz for partial exponential fields $(K,E)$, even though the ring of exponential polynomials $K[X_1,\ldots,X_n]^E$ is not a Hilbert ring. We show that under certain natural conditions one can embed an ideal of $K[X_1,\ldots,X_n]^E$ into an exponential ideal. In case the ideal consists of exponential polynomials with one iteration of the exponential function, we show that these conditions can be met. We apply our results to the case of ordered exponential fields.

Embedded Picard-Vessiot extensions

We prove that if T is a theory of large, bounded, fields of characteristic zero, with almost quantifier elimination, and T_D is the model companion of T + "D is a derivation", then for any model U of T_D, and differential subfield K of U whose field of constants is a model of T, and linear differential equation DY = AY over K, there is a Picard-Vessiot extension L of K for the equation which is embedded in U over K Likewise for logarithmic differential equations over K on connected algebraic groups over the constants of K and the corresponding strongly normal extensions of K.

Strong density of definable types and closed ordered differential fields

The following strong form of density of definable types is introduced for theories T admitting a fibered dimension function d: given a model M of T and a definable subset X of M^n, there is a definable type p in X, definable over a code for X and of the same d-dimension as X. Both o-minimal theories and the theory of closed ordered differential fields (CODF) are shown to have this property. As an application, we derive a new proof of elimination of imaginaries for CODF.

On differential Galois groups of strongly normal extensions

We revisit Kolchin's results on definability of differential Galois groups of strongly normal extensions, in the case where the field of constants is not necessarily algebraically closed. In certain classes of differential topological fields, which encompasses ordered or p-valued differential fields, we find a partial Galois correspondence and we show one cannot expect more in general. In the class of ordered differential fields, using elimination of imaginaries in CODF, we establish a relative Galois correspondence for relatively definable subgroups of the group of differential order automorphisms.

The valuation difference rank of a quasi-ordered difference field

There are several equivalent characterizations of the valuation rank of an ordered or valued field. In this paper, we extend the theory to the case of an ordered or valued {\it difference} field (that is, ordered or valued field endowed with a compatible field automorphism). We introduce the notion of {\it difference rank}. To treat simultaneously the cases of ordered and valued fields, we consider quasi-ordered fields. We characterize the difference rank as the quotient modulo the equivalence relation naturally induced by the automorphism (which encodes its growth rate). In analogy to the theory of convex valuations, we prove that any linearly ordered set can be realized as the difference rank of a maximally valued quasi-ordered difference field. As an application, we show that for every regular uncountable cardinal $\kappa$ such that $\kappa= \kappa^{< \kappa}$, there are $2^{\kappa}$ pairwise non-isomorphic quasi-ordered difference fields of cardinality $\kappa$, but all isomorphic as quasi-ordered fields.
