A detector for CLIC: main parameters and performance

Together with the recent CLIC detector model CLICdet a new software suite was introduced for the simulation and reconstruction of events in this detector. This note gives a brief introduction to CLICdet and describes the CLIC experimental conditions at 380 GeV and 3 TeV, including beam-induced backgrounds. The simulation and reconstruction tools are introduced, and the physics performance obtained is described in terms of single particles, particles in jets, jet energy resolution and flavour tagging. The performance of the very forward electromagnetic calorimeters is also discussed.

HEP Community White Paper on Software trigger and event reconstruction

Realizing the physics programs of the planned and upgraded high-energy physics (HEP) experiments over the next 10 years will require the HEP community to address a number of challenges in the area of software and computing. For this reason, the HEP software community has engaged in a planning process over the past two years, with the objective of identifying and prioritizing the research and development required to enable the next generation of HEP detectors to fulfill their full physics potential. The aim is to produce a Community White Paper which will describe the community strategy and a roadmap for software and computing research and development in HEP for the 2020s. The topics of event reconstruction and software triggers were considered by a joint working group and are summarized together in this document.

Physics at the CLIC e+e- Linear Collider -- Input to the Snowmass process 2013

This paper summarizes the physics potential of the CLIC high-energy e+e- linear collider. It provides input to the Snowmass 2013 process for the energy-frontier working groups on The Higgs Boson (HE1), Precision Study of Electroweak Interactions (HE2), Fully Understanding the Top Quark (HE3), as well as The Path Beyond the Standard Model -- New Particles, Forces, and Dimensions (HE4). It is accompanied by a paper describing the CLIC accelerator study, submitted to the Frontier Capabilities group of the Snowmass process.

LCIO - A persistency framework for linear collider simulation studies

Almost all groups involved in linear collider detector studies have their own simulation software framework. Using a common persistency scheme would allow to easily share results and compare reconstruction algorithms. We present such a persistency framework, called LCIO (Linear Collider I/O). The framework has to fulfill the requirements of the different groups today and be flexible enough to be adapted to future needs. To that end we define an `abstract object persistency layer' that will be used by the applications. A first implementation, based on a sequential file format (SIO) is completely separated from the interface, thus allowing to support additional formats if necessary. The interface is defined with the AID (Abstract Interface Definition) tool from freehep.org that allows creation of Java and C++ code synchronously. In order to make use of legacy software a Fortran interface is also provided. We present the design and implementation of LCIO.
