A Formalization of Austrian Economics. Praxeological Foundations: The Base System and Its Derived Theorems

This paper presents an axiomatization of Ludwig von Mises' praxeology in many-sorted first-order logic, isolating the foundational layer. We introduce a formal language with five sorts (Actors, Actions, Ends, Things, Times) and six primitive relations (Acts, Avail, EndOf, Use, a preference order, and a time order), together with a base axiom system organized into three layers: the structure of action itself, the actor's preference order together with its demonstration in choice, and material scarcity. The base system captures purposeful action in its bare praxeological form. Working entirely within the base system we derive the core classical Misesian propositions as Hilbert-style theorems: the asymmetry of demonstrated preference, the existence of opportunity cost, the structural scarcity of time, the subjectivity of opportunity cost, the law of diminishing marginal utility, and the increasing marginal disutility of labor. Where a theorem requires structure beyond the praxeological core, as with diminishing marginal utility, the additional premises are made explicit; identifying these hidden premises is one of the methodological payoffs of the approach. A self-contained Lean 4 companion encodes the language as Lean 4 type classes and constructs a concrete infinite-time Robinson Crusoe model whose acceptance by the type-checker is a constructive consistency proof of the full base theory.

Many-Worlds Quantum Mechanics is Neither Mathematically Nor Experimentally Equivalent to Standard Quantum Mechanics

Many-Worlds quantum mechanics differs from standard quantum mechanics in that in Many-Worlds, the wave function is a relative density of universes in the multiverse amplitude rather than a probability amplitude. This means that in Many-Worlds, the Born frequencies are approached rather than given a priori. Thus in Many-Worlds the rate of approach to the final frequencies can be calculated and compared with observation. I use Many-Worlds to derive the rate of approach in the double slit experiment, and show that it agrees with observation. Standard quantum theory has never been used to derive an approach formula because it cannot be so used, as has been tacitly acknowledged for 70 years.

Using UHE Cosmic Rays to Probe the CBR and Test Standard Model Particle Physics

Tipler has shown that if we assume that the particle physics Standard Model and DeWitt-Wheeler quantum gravity (equivalent to Feynman-Weinberg quantum gravity) are a Theory of Everything, then in the very early universe, the Cosmic Background Radiation (CBR) could not have coupled to right handed electrons and quarks. Tipler further showed that if this property of CBR has continued, the Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (SZ) effect would be observed to be too low by a factor of two. WMAP and PLANCK observed this. Tipler showed that this CBR property would also mean the Ultra High Energy Cosmic Rays (UHECR) would propagate a factor of ten further than standard theory predicts, since most of the cross section for pion production when a UHECR hits a CBR photon is due to a quark spin flip, and such a flip cannot occur if a CBR particle cannot couple to right-handed quarks. We show that taking this additional propagation distance into account allows us to identify the sources of 86\% of the UHECR seen by the Pierre Auger Collaboration. We can also identify the sources of 9 of the 11 UHECR seen by the AGASA observatory, and the source of the 320 EeV UHECR seen by the Fly's Eye instrument. We propose observations to test the theory underlying the UHECR identifications, beginning with measuring the redshifts of five galaxies whose apparent visual magnitude we estimate to be about 15, and whose positions we give to within one arcsecond. The particle physics Standard Model identifies the Dark Energy and Dark Matter.

Nonlocality as Evidence for a Multiverse Cosmology

I show that observations of quantum nonlocality can be interpreted as purely local phenomena, provided one assumes that the cosmos is a multiverse. Conversely, the observation of quantum nonlocality can be interpreted as observation evidence for a multiverse cosmology, just as observation of the setting of the Sun can be interpreted as evidence for the Earth's rotation.

Hamilton-Jacobi Many-Worlds Theory and the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle

I show that the classical Hamilton-Jacobi (H-J) equation can be used as a technique to study quantum mechanical problems. I first show that the the Schrödinger equation is just the classical H-J equation, constrained by a condition that forces the solutions of the H-J equation to be everywhere $C^2$. That is, quantum mechanics is just classical mechanics constrained to ensure that ``God does not play dice with the universe.'' I show that this condition, which imposes global determinism, strongly suggests that $ψ^*ψ$ measures the density of universes in a multiverse. I show that this interpretation implies the Born Interpretation, and that the function space for $ψ$ is larger than a Hilbert space, with plane waves automatically included. Finally, I use H-J theory to derive the momentum-position uncertainty relation, thus proving that in quantum mechanics, uncertainty arises from the interference of the other universes of the multiverse, not from some intrinsic indeterminism in nature.

Identifying the Unidentified Auger UHE Cosmic Rays with the Help of the Standard Model of Particle Physics

I have shown that if we assume that the Standard Model of particle physics and Feynman-Weinberg quantum gravity holds at all times, then in the very early universe, the Cosmic Background Radiation (CBR) cannot couple to right handed electrons and quarks. If this property of CBR has persisted to the present day, the Ultra HIgh Energy Cosmic Rays (UHECR) can propagate a factor of ten further than they could if the CBR were an electromagnetic field, since most of the cross section for pion production when a UHECR hits a CBR photon is due to a quark spin flip, and such a flip cannot occur if the CBR photon cannot couple to right handed quarks. The GZM effect will still reduce the number of UHECR, but UHECR can arrive from a distance of a redshift of up to $z=0.1$. I show that taking this additional propagation distance into account allows us to identify the sources of 4 of the 6 UHECR which the Pierre Auger Collaboration could not identify, and also identify the source of the 320 EeV UHECR seen by the Fly's Eye instrument. I suggest an experiment to test this hypothesis about the CBR.

General Relativity As an Aether Theory

Most early twentieth century relativists --- Lorentz, Einstein, Eddington, for examples --- claimed that general relativity was merely a theory of the aether. We shall confirm this claim by deriving the Einstein equations using aether theory. We shall use a combination of Lorentz's and Kelvin's conception of the aether. Our derivation of the Einstein equations will not use the vanishing of the covariant divergence of the stress-energy tensor, but instead equate the Ricci tensor to the sum of the usual stress-energy tensor and a stress-energy tensor for the aether, a tensor based on Kelvin's aether theory. A crucial first step is generalizing the Cartan formalism of Newtonian gravity to allow spatial curvature, as conjectured by Gauss and Riemann.

Testing Many-Worlds Quantum Theory By Measuring Pattern Convergence Rates

The Born Interpretation of the wave function gives only the relative frequencies as the number of observations approaches infinity. Using the Many-Worlds Interpretation of quantum mechanics, specifically the fact that there must exist other versions of ourselves in the multiverse, I show that the observed frequencies should approach the Born frequencies as 1/N, where N is the number of observations. In the body of the paper I state this convergence rate precisely as AN EASILY TESTABLE FORMULA. We can therefore test the central claim of the MWI by measuring the convergence rate to the final Born frequency. Conversely, the MWI allows us to calculate this convergence rate.

Feynman-Weinberg Quantum Gravity and the Extended Standard Model as a Theory of Everything

I argue that the (extended) Standard Model (SM) of particle physics and the renormalizable Feynman-Weinberg theory of quantum gravity comprise a theory of everything. I show that imposing the appropriate cosmological boundary conditions make the theory finite. The infinities that are normally renormalized away and the series divergence infinities are both eliminated by the same mechanism. Furthermore, this theory can resolve the horizon, flatness, and isotropy problems of cosmology. Joint mathematical consistency naturally yields a scale-free, Gaussian, adiabatic perturbation spectrum, and more matter than antimatter. I show that mathematical consistency of the theory requires the universe to begin at an initial singularity with a pure $SU(2)_L$ gauge field. I show that quantum mechanics requires this field to have a Planckian spectrum whatever its temperature. If this field has managed to survive thermalization to the present day, then it would be the CMBR. If so, then we would have a natural explanation for the dark matter and the dark energy. I show that isotropic ultrahigh energy (UHE) cosmic rays are explained if the CMBR is a pure $SU(2)_L$ gauge field. The $SU(2)_L$ nature of the CMBR may have been seen in the Sunyaev-Zel'dovich effect. I propose several simple experiments to test the hypothesis.

Intelligent Life in Cosmology

I shall present three arguments for the proposition that intelligent life is very rare in the universe. First, I shall summarize the consensus opinion of the founders of the Modern Synthesis (Simpson, Dobzhanski, and Mayr) that the evolution of intelligent life is exceedingly improbable. Second, I shall develop the Fermi Paradox: if they existed they'd be here. Third, I shall show that if intelligent life were too common, it would use up all available resources and die out. But I shall show that the quantum mechanical principle of unitarity (actually a form of teleology!) requires intelligent life to survive to the end of time. Finally, I shall argue that, if the universe is indeed accelerating, then survival to the end of time requires that intelligent life, though rare, to have evolved several times in the visible universe. I shall argue that the acceleration is a consequence of the excess of matter over antimatter in the universe. I shall suggest experiments to test these claims.

The Cox Theorem: Unknowns And Plausible Value

We give a proof of Cox's Theorem on the product rule and sum rule for conditional plausibility without assuming continuity or differentiablity of plausibility. Instead, we extend the notion of plausibility to apply to unknowns giving them plausible values. Our proof is enormously simpler than others that have recently appeared in the literature, yet completely rigorous. For example, we do not need to investigate the 11 possibilities for conditional plausibilities as described on page 25 of Jaynes' recent book Probability Theory.

What About Quantum Theory? Bayes and the Born Interpretation

I show that probabilities in quantum mechanics are a measure of belief in the presence of human ignorance, just like all other probabilities. The Born interpretation of the square of modulus of the wave function arises from the interaction of a quantum system with an observer, and probabilities will not arise unless the observer is unable to access all the information available in the system's wave function. Quantum mechanics generally does not permit all the information to be obtained, even in principle, just as in relativity information from outside the past light cone cannot be obtained. But probabilities do not imply indeterminism. Instead, quantum mechanics is more deterministic than classical mechanics.

Genesis: How the Universe Began According to Standard Model Particle Physics

I show that the mutual consistency of the Bekenstein Bound, the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics, and general relativity implies that the universe began in a unique state. I solve the coupled EYM equations for this unique state, show how the horizon problem is solved, and how SM baryogenesis naturally results from the triangle anomoly. Since the SU(2) winding number state is thus non-zero, the universe is not in the QCD ground state, and this plausibly yields a (small) positive cosmological constant. Since the initial state is unique, it is necessarily homogeneous and isotropic, as required by the Bekenstein Bound. Wheeler-DeWitt quantization implies an $S^3$ cosmology must be very close to flat if the universe is to be classical today. I show that the spectrum of any classical gauge field (or interacting massless scalar field) in a FRW universe necessarily obeys the Wien displacement law and the corresponding quantized field the Planck distribution law with the reciprocal of the scale factor playing the role of temperature, even if the fields have zero temperature. Thus the CBR could even today be a pure SU(2) electroweak field at zero temperature coupled to the Higgs field, in spite of early universe inverse double Compton and thermal bremsstrahlung.Such a CBR would not couple to right-handed electrons, and this property can be detected with a Penning trap or even using the late 1960's CBR detector with appropriate filters. I argue that ultrahigh energy (UHE) Genesisf.tex Genesisf.tex cosmic ray protons would not produce pions by interacting with such a CBR, and thus the existence of such protons may constitute an observation of this CBR property.

The Ultimate Future of the Universe, Black Hole Event Horizons, Holography, and the Value of the Cosmological Constant

Hawking has shown that if black holes were to exist in a universe that expands forever, black holes would completely evaporate, violating unitarity. I argue this means unitarity requires that the universe exist for only a finite future proper time. I develop this argument, showing that unitarity also requires the boundaries of all future sets to be Cauchy surfaces, and so no event horizons can exist. Thus, the null generators of the surfaces of astrophysical black holes must leave the surface in both time directions, allowing non-spherical topologies for black hole surfaces. Since all information eventually escapes astrophysical black holes, and since the null surfaces defining astrophysical black holes are Cauchy surfaces, holography automatically holds. I further show that unitarity requires the effective cosmological constant to be zero eventually, since otherwise the universe would expand forever.

Does Quantum Nonlocality Exist? Bell's Theorem and the Many-Worlds Interpretation

Quantum nonlocality may be an artifact of the assumption that observers obey the laws of classical mechanics, while observed systems obey quantum mechanics. I show that, at least in the case of Bell's Theorem, locality is restored if observed and observer are both assumed to obey quantum mechanics, as in the Many-Worlds Interpretation. Using the MWI, I shall show that the apparently "non-local" expectation value for the product of the spins of two widely separated particles --- the "quantum" part of Bell's Theorem --- is really due to a series of three purely local measurements. Thus, experiments confirming "nonlocality" are actually confirming the MWI.

Closed Universes With Black Holes But No Event Horizons As a Solution to the Black Hole Information Problem

We show it is possible for the information paradox in black hole evaporation to be resolved classically. Using standard junction conditions, we attach the general closed spherically symmetric dust metric to a spacetime satisfying all standard energy conditions but with a single point future c-boundary. The resulting Omega Point spacetime, which has NO event horizons, nevertheless has black hole type trapped surfaces and hence black holes. But since there are no event horizons, information eventually escapes from the black holes. We show that a scalar quintessence field with an appropriate exponential potential near the final singularity would give rise to an Omega Point final singularity.
