The Dark Side of Gravity

Adopting a non geometrical point of view, we are led to an alternative theory of the order two and symetric gravitational tensor field of GR. The field is no more interpreted as the metric of our space-time. The true metric is globally Minkowskian and describes a flat manifold, a context which justifies a genuine rehabilitation of the global discrete space-time symetries involved in the structure of the Lorentz group along with their 'problematic' representations: the negative energy and tachyonic ones.

The dark gravity model and the formation of large scale structures

The previous version of this article was a first attempt to confront the Dark Gravity theory to cosmological data. However, more recent developments lead to the conclusion that the cosmological principle is probably not valid in Dark Gravity so that this kind of analysis is at best very premature. A more recent and living review of the Dark Gravity theory can be found in gr-qc/0610079

The Dark Gravity model predictions for Gravity Probe B

The previous version of this article gave erroneous predictions. The correct uptodate predictions can be found in the section devoted to gravitomagnetism in the living review of the Dark Gravity theory: gr-qc/0610079 The most natural prediction is zero frame dragging and the same geodetic effect as predicted by GR. However, a straightforward extension of the theory could lead to the same frame-dragging as in GR.

Negative Energies and a Constantly Accelerating Flat Universe

It has been shown that in the context of General Relativity (GR) enriched with a new set of discrete symmetry reversal conjugate metrics, negative energy states can be rehabilitated while avoiding the well-known instability issues. We review here some cosmological implications of the model and confront them with the supernovae and CMB data. The predicted flat universe constantly accelerated expansion phase is found to be in rather good agreement with the most recent cosmological data.

I - Matter, antimatter and geometry II - The twin universe model : a solution to the problem of negative energy particles III - The twin universe model plus electric charges and matter-antimatter symmetry

We introduce a new dynamical group whose coadjoint action on its momentum space takes account of matter-antimatter symmetry on pure geometrical grounds. According to this description the energy and the spin are unchanged under matter-antimatter symmetry. We recall that the antichron components of the Poincaré group, ruling relativistic motions of a mass-point particle, generate negative energy particles. The model with two twin universes, inspired by Sakharov's one, solves the stability issue. Positive and negative energy particles motions hold in two distinct folds. The model is extended to charged particles. As a result, the matter-antimatter duality holds in both universes.
