Inflaton fragmentation in E-models of cosmological $α$-attractors

Cosmological $α$-attractors are observationally favored due to the asymptotic flatness of the potential. Since its flatness induces the negative pressure even after inflation, the coherent oscillation of the inflaton field could fragment into quasi-stable localized objects called I-balls (or "oscillons"). We investigated the possibility of I-ball formation in E-models of $α$-attractors. Using linear analysis and the lattice simulations, we find that for $α\lesssim10^{-3}$, the inflaton feels the negative pressure long enough and actually fragments into I-balls.

More about Q-ball with elliptical orbit

Q-balls formed from the Affleck-Dine field have rich cosmological implications and have been extensively studied from both theoretical and simulational approaches. From the theoretical point of view, the exact solution of the Q-ball was obtained and it shows a circular orbit in the complex plane of the field value. In practice, however, it is reported that the Q-ball that appears after the Affleck-Dine mechanism has an $elliptical$ orbit, which carries larger energy per unit $U(1)$ charge than the well-known solution with a circular orbit. We call them "elliptical" Q-balls. In this paper, we report the first detailed investigation of the properties of the elliptical Q-balls by $3$D lattice simulation. The simulation results indicate that the elliptical Q-ball has an almost spherical spatial profile with no nodes, and we observed a highly elliptic orbit that cannot be described through small perturbations around the ground state Q-ball. Higher ellipticity leads to more excitation of the energy, whose relation is also derived as a dispersion relation. Finally, we derive two types of approximate solutions by extending the Gaussian approximation and considering the time-averaged equation of motion and we also show the consistency with the simulation results.

Cogenesis of LIGO Primordial Black Holes and Dark Matter

In this letter, we propose a novel scenario which simultaneously explains $\mathcal{O}(10)M_\odot$ primordial black holes (PBHs) and dark matter in the minimally supersymmetric standard model. Gravitational waves (GWs) events detected by LIGO-Virgo collaboration suggest an existence of black holes as heavy as $\sim 30M_\odot$. In our scenario, as seeds of the PBHs, we make use of the baryon number perturbations which are induced by the special type of Affleck-Dine mechanism. Furthermore, the scenario does not suffer from the stringent constraints from CMB $μ$-distortion due to the Silk damping and pulsar timing. We find the scenario can explain not only the current GWs events consistently, but also dark matter abundance by the non-topological solitons formed after Affleck-Dine mechanism, called Q-balls.

Primordial Black Holes from Affleck-Dine Mechanism

The recent observations of the gravitational waves (GWs) by LIGO-Virgo collaboration infer the increasing possibility of the primordial black holes (PBHs). Recently it was pointed out that sufficient PBHs are produced by the Affleck-Dine mechanism where inhomogeneous baryogenesis takes place due to change of the Hubble induced mass during and after inflation and forms high baryon bubbles (HBBs). The produced HBBs have large density contrasts through the QCD phase transition or stable Q-ball formation, which leads to formation of the LIGO PBHs. Furthermore, in this model stringent constraints from CMB $μ$-distortion and pulsar timing array (PTA) experiments are completely absent. In this paper, we study the model in full details based on gravity and gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking scenarios and show that the model can explain the current GWs events evading observational constraints.

Gravitino Problem in Inflation Driven by Inflaton-Polonyi Kähler Coupling

We discuss the cosmological gravitino problem in inflation models in which the inflaton potential is constructed from Kähler potential rather than superpotential: a representative model is $\overline{\text{D}3}$-induced geometric inflation. A critical ingredient in this type of models is the coupling of the inflaton and Polonyi (supersymmetry-breaking) field in the Kähler potential, which is needed to build the inflaton potential. We point out the same coupling let the inflaton dominantly decay into a pair of inflatino and gravitino causing the gravitino problem. We propose some possible solutions to this problem.

Oscillating Affleck-Dine condensate and its cosmological implications

We study the dynamics of the Affleck-Dine field after inflation in more detail. After inflation, the Affleck-Dine field inevitably oscillates around the potential minimum. This oscillation is hard to decay and can cause accidental suppression of the consequential baryon asymmetry. This suppression is most effective for the model with non-renormalizable superpotential $W_{AD}\sim Φ^4$ ($Φ$: Affleck-Dine field). It is found that the Affleck-Dine leptogenesis in high-scale inflation, which suffers from serious gravitino overproduction, becomes workable owing to this effect.

Gravitino Problem in Minimal Supergravity Inflation

We study non-thermal gravitino production in the minimal supergravity inflation. In this minimal model utilizing orthogonal nilpotent superfields, the particle spectrum includes only graviton, gravitino, inflaton, and goldstino. We find that a substantial fraction of the cosmic energy density can be transferred to the longitudinal gravitino due to non-trivial change of its sound speed. This implies either a breakdown of the effective theory during reheating or a serious gravitino problem.

de Sitter vacuum from $R^2$ supergravity

We propose a supergravity model with a constrained curvature multiplet, which realizes the Starobinsky inflation and the de Sitter vacuum in the present universe simultaneously. Surprisingly, at the vacuum, the soft supersymmetry breaking scale for minimal supersymmetric standard model sector becomes the TeV scale, however, the gravitino mass scale becomes much higher than that of soft supersymmetry breaking. Such a hierarchical structure, which naturally avoids the gravitino problem, appears without introducing a new scale other than inflation scale.

Illustrating SUSY breaking effects on various inflation mechanisms

We consider the supersymmetry breaking effects on typical inflation models with different types of Kähler potential. The critical size of supersymmetry-breaking scale, above which the flatness of the inflaton potential is spoiled, drastically changes model by model. We present the universal description of such effects in terms of a field-dependent scaling factor by which gravity-mediated supersymmetry breaking terms are suppressed or enhanced, based on the conformal supergravity framework. Such a description would be useful when we estimate them in constructing supersymmetric models of particle cosmology.
