Lojasiewicz exponent of a surface: an intrinsic view

In this paper we observe that the Łojasiewicz exponent $\mathcal{L}_0(X)$ of an ADE-type singularity $X$ can be computed by means of invariants of certain ideals in the local ring ${\mathcal O}_{X,0}$. After extending the notion of Łojasiewicz exponent to rational singularities of higher multiplicities we make a similar observation for RTP-type singularities.

Toric ideals of simple surface singularities

In this paper, we study a class of toric ideals obtained by using some geometric data of ADE trees which are the minimal resolution graphs of rational surface singularities. We compute explicit Gröbner bases for these toric ideals that are also minimal generating sets consisting of large number of binomials of degree $\leq 4$. In particular, they give rise to squarefree initial ideals as well.
