Polytropic configurations with non-zero cosmological constant

We solve the equation of the equilibrium of the gravitating body, with a polytropic equation of state of the matter $P=Kρ^γ$, with $γ=1+1/n$, in the frame of the Newtonian gravity, with non-zero cosmological constant $Λ$. We consider the cases with $n=1,\,\,1.5,\,\,3$ and construct series of solutions with a fixed value of $Λ$. For each value of $n$, the non-dimensional equation of the static equilibrium has a family of solutions, instead of the unique solution of the Lane-Emden equation at $Λ=0$. The equilibrium state exists only for central densities $ρ_0$ larger than the critical value $ρ_c$. There are no static solutions at $ρ_0 < ρ_c$. We find the values of $ρ_c$ for each value of $n$ and show that the presence of dark energy decrease the dynamic stability of the configuration. We apply our results for analyzing the possibility of existence of equilibrium states for cluster of galaxies in the present universe with non-zero $Λ$.

Vertical Structure of Stationary Accretion Disks with a Large-Scale Magnetic Field

In earlier works we pointed out that the disk's surface layers are non-turbulent and thus highly conducting (or non-diffusive) because the hydrodynamic and/or magnetorotational (MRI) instabilities are suppressed high in the disk where the magnetic and radiation pressures are larger than the plasma thermal pressure. Here, we calculate the vertical profiles of the {\it stationary} accretion flows (with radial and azimuthal components), and the profiles of the large-scale, magnetic field taking into account the turbulent viscosity and diffusivity and the fact that the turbulence vanishes at the surface of the disk. Also, here we require that the radial accretion speed be zero at the disk's surface and we assume that the ratio of the turbulent viscosity to the turbulent magnetic diffusivity is of order unity. Thus at the disk's surface there are three boundary conditions. As a result, for a fixed dimensionless viscosity $α$-value, we find that there is a definite relation between the ratio ${\cal R}$ of the accretion power going into magnetic disk winds to the viscous power dissipation and the midplane plasma-$β$, which is the ratio of the plasma to magnetic pressure in the disk. For a specific disk model with ${\cal R}$ of order unity we find that the critical value required for a stationary solution is $β_c \approx 2.4r/(αh)$, where $h$ the disk's half thickness. For weaker magnetic fields, $β> β_c$, we argue that the poloidal field will advect outward while for $β< β_c$ it will advect inward. Alternatively, if the disk wind is negligible (${\cal R} \ll 1$), there are stationary solutions with $β\gg β_c$.

Dynamical chaos in the problem of magnetic jet collimation

We investigate dynamics of a jet collimated by magneto-torsional oscillations. The problem is reduced to an ordinary differential equation containing a singularity and depending on a parameter. We find a parameter range for which this system has stable periodic solutions and study bifurcations of these solutions. We use Poincaré sections to demonstrate existence of domains of regular and chaotic motions. We investigate transition from periodic to chaotic solutions through a sequence of period doublings.

Accretion disks with a large scale magnetic field around black holes, and magnetic jet collimation

We discuss the problem of the formation of a large-scale magnetic field in the accretion disks around black holes, taking into account the nonuniform vertical structure of the disk. The high electrical conductivity of the outer layers of the disk prevents the outward diffusion of the magnetic field. This implies a stationary state with a strong magnetic field in the inner parts of the accretion disk close to the black hole, and zero radial velocity at the surface of the disk. Magnetic jet collimation is considered, when the jet radius is hold due to magneto-torsional oscillations. The range of parameters is found where jet radius is oscillating, regularly or chaotically, within restricted values.

About the measurements of the hard X-ray background

We analyze uncertainties in the cosmic X-ray background measurements performed by the INTEGRAL observatory. We find that the most important effect limiting the accuracy of the measurements is related to the intrinsic background variation in detectors. Taking into account all of the uncertainties arising during the measurements we conclude that the X-ray background intensity obtained in the INTEGRAL observations is compatible with the historic X-ray background observations performed by the HEAO-1 satellite.

Gravitational lensing in a non-uniform plasma

We develop a model of gravitational lensing in a non-uniform plasma. When a gravitating body is surrounded by a plasma, the lensing angle depends on the frequency of the electromagnetic wave, due to dispersion properties of plasma, in presence of a plasma inhomogeneity, and of a gravity. The second effect leads, even in a uniform plasma, to a difference of the gravitational photon deflection angle from the vacuum case, and to its dependence on the photon frequency. We take into account both effects, and derive the expression for the lensing angle in the case of a strongly nonuniform plasma in presence of the gravitation. Dependence of the lensing angle on the photon frequency in a homogeneous plasma resembles the properties of a refractive prism spectrometer, which strongest action is for very long radiowaves. We discuss the observational appearances of this effect for the gravitational lens with a Schwarzschild metric, surrounded by a uniform plasma. We obtain formulae for the lensing angle and the magnification factors in this case and discuss a possibility of observation of this effect by the planned VLBI space project Radioastron. We also consider models with a nonuniform plasma distribution. For different gravitational lens models we compare the corrections to the vacuum lensing due to the gravitational effect in plasma, and due to the plasma inhomogeneity. We have shown that the gravitational effect could be detected in the case of a hot gas in the gravitational field of a galaxy cluster.

Advection/Diffusion of Large-Scale B-Field in Accretion Disks

Activity of the nuclei of galaxies and stellar mass systems involving disk accretion to black holes is thought to be due to (1) a small-scale turbulent magnetic field in the disk (due to the magneto-rotational instability or MRI) which gives a large viscosity enhancing accretion, and (2) a large-scale magnetic field which gives rise to matter outflows and/or electromagnetic jets from the disk which also enhances accretion. An important problem with this picture is that the enhanced viscosity is accompanied by an enhanced magnetic diffusivity which acts to prevent the build up of a significant large-scale field. Recent work has pointed out that the disk's surface layers are non-turbulent and thus highly conducting (or non-diffusive) because the MRI is suppressed high in the disk where the magnetic and radiation pressures are larger than the thermal pressure. Here, we calculate the vertical ($z$) profiles of the stationary accretion flows (with radial and azimuthal components), and the profiles of the large-scale, magnetic field taking into account the turbulent viscosity and diffusivity due to the MRI and the fact that the turbulence vanishes at the surface of the disk. The stationary solutions we find indicate that a weak ($β> 1$) large-scale field does not diffuse away as suggested by earlier work.

Monte-Carlo simulations of the broadband X-ray continuum of SS433

We develop a Monte-Carlo technique based on L.B. Lucy's indivisible photon packets method to calculate X-ray continuum spectra of comptonized thermal plasma in arbitrary geometry and apply it to describe the broadband X-ray continuum of the galactic superaccreting microquasar SS433 observed by INTEGRAL. A physical model of the X-ray emitting region is proposed that includes thermal emission from the accretion disk, jets and hot corona where the photons of different origin are comptonized. From comparison with INTEGRAL observations, we estimate physical parameters of the complex X-ray emitting region in SS433 and present model spectra for different viewing angles of the object.

Gravitational radiospectrometer

Gravitational lensing is predicted by general relativity and is found in observations. When a gravitating body is surrounded by a plasma, the lensing angle depends on a frequency of the electromagnetic wave due to refraction properties, and the dispersion properties of the light propagation in plasma. The last effect leads to dependence, even in the uniform plasma, of the lensing angle on the frequency, what resembles the properties of the refractive prism spectrometer. The strongest action of this spectrometer is for the frequencies slightly exceeding the plasma frequency, what corresponds to very long radiowaves.

Gravitational lensing by gravitational waves

Gravitational lensing by gravitational wave is considered. We notice that although final and initial direction of photons coincide, displacement between final and initial trajectories occurs. This displacement is calculated analytically for the plane gravitational wave pulse. Estimations for observations are discussed.

An Exact General-Relativity Solution for the Motion and Intersections of Self-Gravitating Shells in the Field of a Massive Black Hole

The motion with intersections of relativistic gravitating shells in the Schwarzschild gravitational field of a central body is considered. Formulas are derived for calculating parameters of the shells after intersection via their parameters before intersection. Such special cases as the Newtonian approximation, intersections of light shells, and intersections of a test shell with a gravitating shell are also considered. The ejection of one of the shells to infinity in the relativistic region is described. The equations of motion for the shells are analyzed numerically.

Light curve and neutrino spectrum emitted during the collapse of a nonrotating, supermassive star

The formation of a neutrino pulse emitted during the relativistic collapse of a spherical supermassive star is considered. The free collapse of a body with uniform density in the absence of rotation and with the free escape of the emitted neutrinos can be solved analytically by quadrature. The light curve of the collapsing star and the spectrum of the emitted neutrinos at various times are calculated.

Strong Gravitational Lensing by Schwarzschild Black Holes

The properties of the relativistic rings which show up in images of a source when a black hole lies between the source and observer are examined. The impact parameters are calculated, along with the distances of closest approach of the rays which form a relativistic ring, their angular sizes, and their "magnification" factors, which are much less than unity.

Increase of mass and decrease of PBH spin due to the accretion of radiation dominated matter are estimated with using of results of numerical simulation of PBH formation and approximate relations for accretion to a rotating black hole.

Dynamic stabilization of non-spherical bodies against unlimited collapse

We solve equations, describing in a simplified way the newtonian dynamics of a selfgravitating nonrotating spheroidal body after loss of stability. We find that contraction to a singularity happens only in a pure spherical collapse, and deviations from the spherical symmetry stop the contraction by the stabilising action of nonlinear nonspherical oscillations. A real collapse happens after damping of the oscillations due to energy losses, shock wave formation or viscosity. Detailed analysis of the nonlinear oscillations is performed using a Poincaré map construction. Regions of regular and chaotic oscillations are localized on this map.

Outflows from Magnetorotational Supernovae

We discuss results of 2D simulations of magnetorotational(MR) mechanism of core collapse supernova explosions. Due to the nonuniform collapse the collapsed core rotates differentially. In the presence of initial poloidal magnetic field its toroidal component appears and grows with time. Increased magnetic pressure leads to foramtion of compression wave which moves outwards. It transforms into the fast MHD shock wave (supernova shock wave). The shape of the MR supernova explosion qualitatively depends on the configuration of the initial magnetic field. For the dipole-like initial magnetic field the supernova explosion develops mainly along rotational axis forming mildly collimated jet. Quadrupole-like initial magnetic field leads to the explosion developing mainly along equatorial plane. Magnetorotational instability was found in our simulations. The supernova explosion energy is growing with increase of the initial core mass and rotational energy of the core, and corresponds to the observational data.

Large Scale B-Field in Stationary Accretion Disks

We reconsider the problem of the formation of a large-scale magnetic field in the accretion disks around black holes. In contrast with previous work we take into account the nonuniform vertical structure of the disk. The high electrical conductivity of the outer layers of the disk prevents the outward diffusion of the magnetic field. This implies a stationary state with a strong magnetic field in the inner parts of the accretion disk close to the black hole.
