Damping-Antidamping Effect on Comets Motion

We make an observation about Galilean transformation on a 1-D mass variable systems which leads us to the right way to deal with mass variable systems. Then using this observation, we study two-bodies gravitational problem where the mass of one of the bodies varies and suffers a damping-antidamping effect due to star wind during its motion. For this system, a constant of motion, a Lagrangian and a Hamiltonian are given for the radial motion, and the period of the body is studied using the constant of motion of the system. Our theoretical results are applied to Halley's comet.

Modular magnetic field on the z-direction on a chain of nuclear spin system and quantum Not and Controlled-Not gates

We study the simulation of a single qubit rotation and Controlled-Not gate in a solid state one-dimensional chain of nuclear spins system interacting weakly through an Ising type of interaction with a modular component of the magnetic field in the z-direction, characterized by $B_z(z,t)=Bo(z)\cosδt$. These qubits are subjected to electromagnetic pulses which determine the transition in the one or two qubits system. We use the fidelity parameter to determine the performance of the Not (N) gate and Controlled-Not (CNOT) gate as a function of the frequency parameter $δ$. We found that for $|δ|\le 10^{-3} MHz$, these gates still have good fidelity.

Two bodies gravitational system with variable mass and damping-antidamping effect due to star wind

We study two-bodies gravitational problem where the mass of one of the bodies varies and suffers a damping-antidamping effect due to star wind during its motion. A constant of motion, a Lagrangian and a Hamiltonian are given for the radial motion of the system, and the period of the body is studied using the constant of motion of the system. An application to the comet motion is given, using the comet Halley as an example.

Study of the double non linear quantum resonances in diatomic molecules

We study the quantum dynamics of diatomic molecule driven by a circularly polarized resonant electric field. We look for a quantum effect due to classical chaos appearing due to the overlapping of nonlinear resonances associated to the vibrational and rotational motion. We solve the Schrödinger equation associated with the wave function expanded in term of proper stationary states, $|n>\otimes|lm>$ (vibrational$\otimes$angular momentum states). Looking for quantum-classic correspondence, we consider the Liouville dynamics in the two dimensional phase space defined by the coherent -like state of vibrational states, and it is found some similarities when the quantum dynamics is pictured in terms of number and phase operators.

Simulation of static and random errors on Grover's search algorithm implemented in a Ising nuclear spin chain quantum computer with few qubits

We consider Grover's search algorithm on a model quantum computer implemented on a chain of four or five nuclear spins with first and second neighbour Ising interactions. Noise is introduced into the system in terms of random fluctuations of the external fields. By averaging over many repetitions of the algorithm, the output state becomes effectively a mixed state. We study its overlap with the nominal output state of the algorithm, which is called fidelity. We find either an exponential or a Gaussian decay for the fidelity as a function of the strength of the noise, depending on the type of noise (static or random) and whether error supression is applied (the 2pi k-method) or not.

One dimensional relativistic free particle in a quadratic dissipative medium

The deduction of a constant of motion, a Lagrangian, and a Hamiltonian for relativistic particle moving in a dissipative medium characterized by a force which depends on the square of the velocity of the particle is done. It is shown that meanwhile the trajectories in the space (x,v), defined by the constant of motion, look as one might expected, the trajectories in the space (x,p), defined by the Hamiltonian, have a odd behavior.

About the intuitive picture of a Hamiltonian for a dissipative system

A Hamiltonian for a one-dimensional (1-D) dissipative system is given which shows that the trajectories in the spaces ($x,\dot x$) and ($x,p$) are completely different. The trajectory in the space ($x,p$) has an unexpected contra-intuitive behavior, and a canonical transformation does not solve this behavior.

Monomial integrals on the classical groups

This paper presents a powerfull method to integrate general monomials on the classical groups with respect to their invariant (Haar) measure. The method has first been applied to the orthogonal group in [J. Math. Phys. 43, 3342 (2002)], and is here used to obtain similar integration formulas for the unitary and the unitary symplectic group. The integration formulas turn out to be of similar form. They are all recursive, where the recursion parameter is the number of column (row) vectors from which the elements in the monomial are taken. This is an important difference to other integration methods. The integration formulas are easily implemented in a computer algebra environment, which allows to obtain analytical expressions very efficiently. Those expressions contain the matrix dimension as a free parameter.

Simulation of Grover's quantum search algorithm in a Ising nuclear spin chain quantum computer with first and second nearest neighbour couplings

We implement Grover's quantum search algorithm on a nuclear spin chain quantum computer, taking into Ising type interactions between nearest and second nearest neighbours into account. The performance of the realisation of the algorithm is studied by numerical simulations with four spins. We determine the temporal behaviour of the fidelity during the algorithm, and we compute the final fidelity as a function of the Rabi frequency. For the latter, we obtained pronounced maxima at frequencies which fulfil the condition of the (2πk)-method with respect to the second nearest neighbour interactions.

Transient Dynamics in Magnetic Force Microscopy for a Single-Spin Measurement

We analyze a single-spin measurement using a transient process in magnetic force microscopy (MFM) which could increase the maximum operating temperature by a factor of Q (the quality factor of the cantilever) in comparison with the static Stern-Gerlach effect. We obtain an exact solution of the master equation, which confirms this result. We also discuss the conditions required to create a macroscopic Schrodinger cat state in the cantilever.

Perturbation Theory and Numerical Modeling of Quantum Logic Operations with a Large Number of Qubits

The perturbation theory is developed based on small parameters which naturally appear in solid state quantum computation. We report the simulations of the dynamics of quantum logic operations with a large number of qubits (up to 1000). A nuclear spin chain is considered in which selective excitations of spins are provided by having a uniform gradient of the external magnetic field. Quantum logic operations are utilized by applying resonant electromagnetic pulses. The spins interact with their nearest neighbors. We simulate the creation of the long-distance entanglement between remote qubits in the spin chain. Our method enables us to minimize unwanted non-resonant effects in a controlled way. The method we use cannot simulate complicated quantum logic (a quantum computer is required to do this), but it can be useful to test the experimental performance of simple quantum logic operations. We show that: (a) the probability distribution of unwanted states has a ``band'' structure, (b) the directions of spins in typical unwanted states are highly correlated, and (c) many of the unwanted states are high-energy states of a quantum computer (a spin chain). Our approach can be applied to simple quantum logic gates and fragments of quantum algorithms involving a large number of qubits.

A Quantum Full Adder for a Scalable Nuclear Spin Quantum Computer

We demonstrate a strategy for implementation a quantum full adder in a spin chain quantum computer. As an example, we simulate a quantum full adder in a chain containing 201 spins. Our simulations also demonstrate how one can minimize errors generated by non-resonant effects.

Non-Resonant Effects in Implementation of Quantum Shor Algorithm

We simulate Shor's algorithm on an Ising spin quantum computer. The influence of non-resonant effects is analyzed in detail. It is shown that our ``$2πk$''-method successfully suppresses non-resonant effects even for relatively large values of the Rabi frequency.

Simulations of Quantum Logic Operations in Quantum Computer with Large Number of Qubits

We report the first simulations of the dynamics of quantum logic operations with a large number of qubits (up to 1000). A nuclear spin chain in which selective excitations of spins is provided by the gradient of the external magnetic field is considered. The spins interact with their nearest neighbors. We simulate the quantum control-not (CN) gate implementation for remote qubits which provides the long-distance entanglement. Our approach can be applied to any implementation of quantum logic gates involving a large number of qubits.

Influence of Non-Resonant Effects on the Dynamics of Quantum Logic Gates at Room Temperature

We study numerically the influence of non-resonant effects on the dynamics of a single $π$-pulse quantum CONTROL-NOT (CN) gate in a macroscopic ensemble of fo ur-spin molecules at room temperature. The four nuclear spins in each molecule r epresent a four-qubit register. The qubits are ``labeled'' by the characteristic frequencies, $ω_k$, ($k=0$ to 3) due to the Zeeman interaction of the nuclear spins with the magnetic field. The qubits interact with each other through an Ising interaction of strength $J$. T he paper examines the feasibility of implementing a single-pulse quantum CN gate in an ensemble of quantum molecules at room temperature. We determine a paramet er region, $ω_k$ and $J$, in which a single-pulse quantum CN gate can be i mplemented at room temperature. We also show that there exist characteristic cri tical values of parameters, $Δω_{cr}\equiv|ω_{k^\prime}-ω_k|_{cr}$ and $J_{cr}$, such that for $J<J_{cr}$ and $Δω_k\equiv|ω_{k^\prime}-ω_k|<Δω_{cr}$, non-resonant effects are sufficient to d estroy the dynamics required for quantum logic operations.

The simplest characteristics of regular and chaotic dynamics are calculated. The possibilities of experimental realization are discussed.
