Phase-controlled transport of Floquet-driven compact chiral photonic states

The Aharonov-Bohm (AB) effect remains a cornerstone of fundamental and applied physics. In this work, we utilize the AB caging effect originated from an effective magnetic field induced by multiorbital interactions, creating an all flat band (FB) lattice system. Normally, FB states are known for being compact in space and having a zero tail; therefore, their mobility in a linear environment is generally understood as impossible. We propose a Floquet driving protocol in an all-FB photonic system to fully control the dynamics of localized photonic states. The modulation of the Hamiltonian along the propagation coordinate allows the translation of compact states in the direction of constructive interference, resulting in an effective stroboscopic quantum walk-like effect. We find that the traveling states exist in chiral pairs. We experimentally implement the Floquet driven protocol using femtosecond laser written photonic waveguides and demonstrate directional control of the propagation, determined by the relative phase of the input condition.

Polaronic Effect in High-Harmonic Generation

We investigate High-Harmonic Generation (HHG) in the Su-Schrieffer-Heeger (SSH) chain with electron-phonon coupling modeled via the Holstein interaction. The system dynamics are simulated using the tight-binding approximation, with local phonons approximated as quantum harmonic oscillators. Phononic degrees of freedom significantly expand the Hilbert space dimension. This interaction modifies the eigenenergy spectrum by introducing new states within previously existing gaps, enhancing the harmonic yield through additional allowed transitions.

Topological and flat bands states induced by hybridized interactions in one-dimensional photonic lattices

We report on a study of a one-dimensional linear photonic lattice hosting, simultaneously, fundamental and dipolar modes at every site. We show how, thanks to the interaction between the different orbital modes, this minimal model exhibits rich transport and topological properties. By varying the detuning coefficient we find a regime where bands become flatter (with reduced transport) and, a second regime, where both bands connect on at a gap-closing transition (with enhanced transport). We detect an asymmetric transport due to the asymmetric inter-mode coupling and a linear energy exchange mechanism between modes. Further analysis show that the bands have a topological transition with a non-trivial Zak phase which leads to the appeareance of edge states in a finite system. Finally, for zero detuning, we found a symmetric condition for coupling constants, where the linear spectrum becomes completely flat, with states fully localized in space occupying only two lattice sites.
