On Lorden's Inequality and Renewal-Type Processes with Dependent Inter-renewal Times

We consider renewal-type processes whose positive inter-renewal times may be dependent, non-identically distributed, and may have mixed distributions. We introduce a generalised intensity measure extending the classical hazard-rate representation to this setting. Under a two-sided comparison scheme for the inter-renewal laws and an additional renewal-measure domination condition \textnormal{(RD)}, we prove a Lorden-type bound for the forward recurrence time. This bound provides an explicit first-moment input for coupling constructions and, once the remaining coupling parameters are controlled, yields a total-variation estimate. We illustrate the result on exponential, mixed, Markov-modulated, and Pareto benchmarks. In the i.i.d.\ benchmarks, the bound has the correct renewal scale up to a universal factor; in the Markov-modulated benchmark, the explicit Lorden constant is verified while the final convergence consequence remains conditional on \textnormal{(RD)}; and in the Pareto case the construction identifies the natural second-moment threshold for finiteness of the Lorden input.

About quasi-renewal processes and quasi-regenerative processes

We discuss the concepts of quasi-renewal and quasi-regenerative processes. We also propose a method for obtaining the upper bounds for the convergence rate of the distribution of a regenerative and quasi-regenerative process to a stationary distribution, if this process is ergodic. The second version of the text has been corrected and significantly expanded.

On coupling epoch for renewal times

The ability to estimate the rate of convergence for the distributions of regenerative processes is in great demand. These processes are often encountered in queuing theory and in related problems. In some papers on regenerative processes, the coupling method and subsequent estimation of the convergence rate is used. In the presented small publication, we describe a general approach to using the coupling method for regenerative processes - both in the case of a polynomial and an exponential rate of convergence.

On some generalization of Lorden's inequality for renewal processes

In queueing theory, Lorden's inequality can be used for bounds estimation of the moments of backward and forward renewal times. Two random variables called backwards renewal time and forward renewal time for this process are defined. Lorden's inequality it's true for the renewal process, so expectations of backward and forward renewal times are bounded by the relation of expectation of moment of the random variable for any fixed moment of time, where random variables are i.i.d. We generalised and proved a similar result for dependent random variables with finite expectations, some constant C and integrable function Q(s): if X is not independent and have absolutely continuous distribution function which satisfies some boundary conditions, then the analogue of Lorden's inequality for renewal process is true. In August 2021 reviewed version is uploaded.

About some extended Erlang-Sevast'yanov queueing system and its convergence rate (English and Russian versions)

The upper bound for the convergence rate of the distribution of the state of a queuing system with infinitely many servers is obtained, in the case when the intensity of the incoming flow and the intensity of the service depend on the state of the system. Typos and spelling errors have been corrected in the new version of the text; the content of the text has remained unchanged. ----- Poluchena ocenka sverhu dlia skorosti shodimosti raspredeleniia sostoianiia beskonechnolinejnoj sistemy massovogo obsluzhivaniia v sluchae, kogda intensivnost` vhodiashchego potoka i intensivnost` obsluzhivaniia zavisiat ot sostoianiia sistemy. On strong bounds of rate of convergence for regenerative processes

We give strong bounds for the rate of convergence of the regenerative process distribution to the stationary distribution in the total variation metric. These bounds are obtained by using coupling method. We propose this method for obtaining such bounds for the queueing regenerative processes.

On some limit theorems following from Smith's Theorem

We give a generalization of the ergodic theorem for semi-Markov linear-type processes. This generalization is proved for the case when a common support of distributions defining this process is not arithmetic. Also we give an uniform estimate of expectations of the forward renewal time. These facts are based on the key renewal (Walter Smith's) theorem, and they are very useful in research in the queueing theory.

About one generalisation of the Leibniz theorem

The well-known Leibniz theorem (Leibniz Criterion or alternating series test) of convergence of alternating series is generalized for the case when the absolute value of terms of series are "not absolutely monotonously" convergent to zero. Questions of accuracy of the estimation for the series remainder are considered.
