A Localization Method of High Energy Transients for All-Sky Gamma-Ray Monitor

Fast and reliable localization of high-energy transients is crucial for characterizing the burst properties and guiding the follow-up observations. Localization based on the relative counts of different detectors has been widely used for all-sky gamma-ray monitors. There are two major methods for this counts distribution localization: $χ^{2}$ minimization method and the Bayesian method. Here we propose a modified Bayesian method that could take advantage of both the accuracy of the Bayesian method and the simplicity of the $χ^{2}$ method. With comprehensive simulations, we find that our Bayesian method with Poisson likelihood is generally more applicable for various bursts than $χ^{2}$ method, especially for weak bursts. We further proposed a location-spectrum iteration approach based on the Bayesian inference, which could alleviate the problems caused by the spectral difference between the burst and location templates. Our method is very suitable for scenarios with limited computation resources or time-sensitive applications, such as in-flight localization software, and low-latency localization for rapid follow-up observations.

Enabling Conversational Interaction with Mobile UI using Large Language Models

Conversational agents show the promise to allow users to interact with mobile devices using language. However, to perform diverse UI tasks with natural language, developers typically need to create separate datasets and models for each specific task, which is expensive and effort-consuming. Recently, pre-trained large language models (LLMs) have been shown capable of generalizing to various downstream tasks when prompted with a handful of examples from the target task. This paper investigates the feasibility of enabling versatile conversational interactions with mobile UIs using a single LLM. We designed prompting techniques to adapt an LLM to mobile UIs. We experimented with four important modeling tasks that address various scenarios in conversational interaction. Our method achieved competitive performance on these challenging tasks without requiring dedicated datasets and training, offering a lightweight and generalizable approach to enable language-based mobile interaction.

Rationalizing the influence of tunable energy levels on quantum efficiency to design optimal non-fullerene acceptor-based ternary organic solar cells

Non-fullerene acceptor (NFA)-based ternary bulk heterojunction solar cells (TSC) are the most efficient organic solar cells (OSCs) today due to their broader absorption and quantum efficiencies (QE) often surpassing those of corresponding binary blends. We study how the energetics driving charge transfer at the electron donor:electron acceptor (D/A) interfaces impact the QE in blends of PBDB-T-2F donor with several pairs of lower bandgap NFAs. As in binary blends, the ionization energy offset between donor and acceptor (ΔIE) controls the QE and maximizes for ΔIE > 0.5 eV. However, ΔIE is not controlled by the individual NFAs IEs but by their average, weighted for their blending ratio. Using this property, we improved the QE of a PBDB-T-2F:IEICO binary blend that had an insufficient ΔIE for charge generation by adding a deep IE third component: IT-4F. Combining two NFAs enables to optimize the D/A energy alignment and cells' QE without molecular engineering.

Doniach phase diagram for Kondo lattice model on the square and triangular lattices

Geometric frustration adds a new competing energy scale to the antiferromagnetic (AFM) Kondo lattice model (KLM). In this work, we systematically study the doniach phase diagram on the square and triangular lattices in the same theoretical framework and reveal unexpected responses of it on the two lattices. The potential energy created by the geometric frustration is comparable to the Ruderman-Kittel-Kasuya-Yosida (RKKY) coupling, which completely suppresses the long-range antiferromagnetic (AFM) order on the half-filled triangular lattice. While, on the square lattice, the long-range AFM order successfully establishes and constitutes the conventional competition between the RKKY and Kondo couplings. The geometrical frustration on the triangular lattice is partially released when doped with holes, in which two different magnetic orders emerge unexpectedly. The two orders closely relate to the topology of the interacting Fermi surface. Our comprehensive comparison of the KLM on the two lattices not only reveals a significant competition of geometric frustration, RKKY, and Kondo couplings on low-dimensional systems but also sheds light on experimentally finding new phases in related materials.

$\rm A^2Q$: Aggregation-Aware Quantization for Graph Neural Networks

As graph data size increases, the vast latency and memory consumption during inference pose a significant challenge to the real-world deployment of Graph Neural Networks (GNNs). While quantization is a powerful approach to reducing GNNs complexity, most previous works on GNNs quantization fail to exploit the unique characteristics of GNNs, suffering from severe accuracy degradation. Through an in-depth analysis of the topology of GNNs, we observe that the topology of the graph leads to significant differences between nodes, and most of the nodes in a graph appear to have a small aggregation value. Motivated by this, in this paper, we propose the Aggregation-Aware mixed-precision Quantization ($\rm A^2Q$) for GNNs, where an appropriate bitwidth is automatically learned and assigned to each node in the graph. To mitigate the vanishing gradient problem caused by sparse connections between nodes, we propose a Local Gradient method to serve the quantization error of the node features as the supervision during training. We also develop a Nearest Neighbor Strategy to deal with the generalization on unseen graphs. Extensive experiments on eight public node-level and graph-level datasets demonstrate the generality and robustness of our proposed method. Compared to the FP32 models, our method can achieve up to a 18.6x (i.e., 1.70bit) compression ratio with negligible accuracy degradation. Morever, compared to the state-of-the-art quantization method, our method can achieve up to 11.4\% and 9.5\% accuracy improvements on the node-level and graph-level tasks, respectively, and up to 2x speedup on a dedicated hardware accelerator.

Modelling Solar Energetic Neutral Atoms from Solar Flares and CME-driven Shocks

We examine the production of energetic neutral atoms (ENAs) in solar flares and CME-driven shocks and their subsequent propagation to 1 au. Time profiles and fluence spectra of solar ENAs at 1 au are computed for two scenarios: 1) ENAs are produced downstream at CME-driven shocks, and 2) ENAs are produced at large-scale post-flare loops in solar flares. Both the time profiles and fluence spectra for these two scenarios are vastly different. Our calculations indicate that we can use solar ENAs as a new probe to examine the underlying acceleration process of solar energetic particles (SEPs) and to differentiate the two accelertion sites: large loops in solar flares and downstream of CME-driven shocks, in large SEP events.

Production of $X_b$ via $Υ(5S, 6S)$ radiative decays

We investigate the production of $X_b$ in the process $Υ(5S,6S)\to γX_b$, where $X_b$ is assumed to be a $B {\bar B}^*$ molecular state. Two kinds of meson loops of $B^{(*)}{\bar B}^{(*)}$ and $B_1^{\prime}{\bar B}^{(*)}$ were considered. To explore the rescattering mechanism, we calculated the relevant branching ratios using the effective Lagrangian based on the heavy quark symmetry. The branching ratios for the $Υ(5S\,,6S) \to γX_b$ were found to be at the orders of $10^{-7} \sim 10^{-6}$. Such sizeable branching ratios might be accessible at BelleII, which would provide important clues to the inner structures of the exotic state $X_b$.

The quark orbital angular momentum of ground state octet baryons

Here we study the quark orbital angular momentum of the ground octet baryons employing an extended chiral constituent quark model, within which the baryon wave functions are taken to be superposition of the traditional $qqq$ and the $qqqq\bar{q}$ higher Fock components. Coupling between the two configurations is estimated using the $^3P_{0}$ quark-antiquark creation mechanism, and the corresponding coupling strength is determined by fitting the sea flavor asymmetry of the nucleon. The obtained numerical results show that the quark angular momentum of the nucleon, $Σ$, $Λ$ and $Ξ$ hyperons are in the range $0.10$-$0.30$. In addition, the quark angular momentum of all the hyperons are a little bit smaller than that of the nucleon. And the octet baryons spin fractions taken by the intrinsic quark orbital angular momentum could be up to $60\%$ in present model.

Amplitude representation of Landau-Lifshitz equation and its application to ferromagnetic films

The purpose of this article is to develop a systematic approach to the solution of the Landau-Lifshitz equation in terms of the magnon wave function ψ (r) and apply it to physical phenomena in a thin ferromagnetic film. This article has also a purpose to represent the modern state of art for the properties of ferromagnetic films and the pumping-induced Bose-Einstein condensation of magnons in them at room temperature. Thus, it can be considered as a review on basic principles and the recent advances in the field.

Multi-block-Single-probe Variance Reduced Estimator for Coupled Compositional Optimization

Variance reduction techniques such as SPIDER/SARAH/STORM have been extensively studied to improve the convergence rates of stochastic non-convex optimization, which usually maintain and update a sequence of estimators for a single function across iterations. What if we need to track multiple functional mappings across iterations but only with access to stochastic samples of $\mathcal{O}(1)$ functional mappings at each iteration? There is an important application in solving an emerging family of coupled compositional optimization problems in the form of $\sum_{i=1}^m f_i(g_i(\mathbf{w}))$, where $g_i$ is accessible through a stochastic oracle. The key issue is to track and estimate a sequence of $\mathbf g(\mathbf{w})=(g_1(\mathbf{w}), \ldots, g_m(\mathbf{w}))$ across iterations, where $\mathbf g(\mathbf{w})$ has $m$ blocks and it is only allowed to probe $\mathcal{O}(1)$ blocks to attain their stochastic values and Jacobians. To improve the complexity for solving these problems, we propose a novel stochastic method named Multi-block-Single-probe Variance Reduced (MSVR) estimator to track the sequence of $\mathbf g(\mathbf{w})$. It is inspired by STORM but introduces a customized error correction term to alleviate the noise not only in stochastic samples for the selected blocks but also in those blocks that are not sampled. With the help of the MSVR estimator, we develop several algorithms for solving the aforementioned compositional problems with improved complexities across a spectrum of settings with non-convex/convex/strongly convex/Polyak-Łojasiewicz (PL) objectives. Our results improve upon prior ones in several aspects, including the order of sample complexities and dependence on the strong convexity parameter. Empirical studies on multi-task deep AUC maximization demonstrate the better performance of using the new estimator.

Triangle mechanism in the decay process $B_0 \to J/ψK^0 f_0(980)(a_0(980))$

The role of the triangle mechanism in the decay process $B_0\to J/ψK^0f_0 \to J/ψK^0π^+π^-$ and $B_0\to JψK^0a_0\to J/ψK^0 π^0η$ is probed. In these process, the triangle singularity appears from the decay of $B^0$ into $J/ψϕK^0$ then $ϕ$ decays into $K^0\bar{K^0}$ and $K^0\bar{K^0}$ merged into $f_0$ or $a_0$ which finally decay into $π^+π^-$ and $π^0η$ respectively. We find that this mechanism leads to a triangle singularity around $M_{\rm inv}(K^0f_0(a_0))\approx1520\ {\rm MeV}$, and gives sizable branching fractions ${\rm{Br}}(B_0\to J/ψK^0f_0\to J/ψK^0π^+π^-)=1.38\times10^{-6}$ and $ {\rm{Br}}(B_0\to J/ψK^0a_0\to J/ψK^0π^0η)=2.56\times10^{-7}$. This potential investigation can help us obtain the information of the scalar meson $f_0(980)$ or $a_0(980)$.

Slow inter-minima relaxation and its consequence for BEC of magnons

Two recent articles of the Munster University experimental team led by S.O. Demokritov displayed several important facts related to the Bose-Einstein condensation of magnons (BECM) under permanent pumping first discovered in 2006. They contradicted existing theories of this phenomenon, which predict the attractive interaction between magnons and strong spontaneous violation of the reflection symmetry. In this article, we show that these theories implicitly assumed all relaxation processes to be fast compared with the lifetime of the magnons, whereas one of them -- relaxation between two minima of energy -- is slow. We classify processes responsible for the inter-minima relaxation and present their analytic theory. We analyze how the slow inter-minima relaxation modifies the anticipated properties of a ferromagnet with the magnon condensate.

Spectrum of the S-wave fully-heavy tetraquark states

In present work, spectrum of the $S$-wave fully-heavy tetraquark states $QQ\bar{Q}\bar{Q}$ ($Q=c,b$), i.e., $cc\bar{c}\bar{c}$, $bb\bar{b}\bar{b}$, $cc\bar{b}\bar{b}$/$bb\bar{c}\bar{c}$, $bc\bar{c}\bar{c}$/ $cc\bar{b}\bar{c}$, $bb\bar{c}\bar{b}$/$cb\bar{b}\bar{b}$, and $bc\bar{b}\bar{c}$ are systematically investigated within an nonrelativistic constituent quark model, in which the Instanton-induced and one-gluon-exchange interactions are taken into account as the residual spin-dependent hyperfine interaction. Our results show that the states with $cc\bar{c}\bar{c}$ and $bb\bar{b}\bar{b}$ components could be located around $ 6500$ MeV and $ 19200$ MeV, respectively. Based on our calculations, the new $X(6900)$ state observed by LHCb may be not a ground $cc\bar{c}\bar{c}$ tetraquark state, while it could be an orbitally or radially excited state of $cc\bar{c}\bar{c}$ system. On the other hand, the recently reported $X(6600)$ state by CMS and ATLAS can be explained as a ground $cc\bar{c}\bar{c}$ tetraquark state with spin-parity $J^{PC} =0^{++}$.

The expected measurement precision of the branching ratio of the Higgs decaying to the di-photon at the CEPC

This paper presents the prospects of measuring $σ(e^{+}e^{-}\to ZH)\times Br(H \to γγ)$ in 3 $Z$ decay channels $Z \to q\bar{q} / μ^{+} μ^{-} / ν\barν$ using the baseline detector with $\sqrt{s} = 240 GeV$ at the Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC) . The simulated Monte Carlo events are generated and scaled to an integrated luminosity of 5.6 $ab^{-1}$ to mimic the data. Extrapolated results to 20 $ab^{-1}$ are also shown. The expected statistical precision of this measurement after combining 3 channels of $Z$ boson decay is 7.7\%. With some preliminary estimation on the systematical uncertainties, the total precision is 7.9\%. The performance of CEPC electro-magnetic calorimeter (ECAL) is studied by smearing the photon energy resolution in simulated events in $e^{+}e^{-} \to ZH \to q\bar{q}γγ$ channel. In present ECAL design, the stochastic term in resolution plays the dominant role in the precision of Higgs measurements in $H \to γγ$ channel. The impact of the resolution on the measured precision of $σ(ZH)\times Br(ZH \to q\bar{q}γγ)$ as well as the optimization of ECAL constant term and stochastic term are studied for the further detector design.

Explanation of Y(4630) as hadronic resonant state

After Y(4630) is discovered, theorists have given various explanations. We find that if Y(4630) is interpreted as the D-wave resonant state of $Λ_c \bar Λ_c$ system, the particle mass, decay width and all quantum numbers are consistent with experimental observations. We use the Bonn approximation to get the interaction potential of one boson exchange model, then extend the complex scaling method (CSM) to calculate the bound and resonant states. The results indicate that the $Λ_c \barΛ_c$ system can form not only the bound state of S wave, but also the resonant state of the high angular momentum, and the $^3D_1$ wave resonant state can explain the structure of Y(4630) very well.

Pressure-Tuning Superconductivity in Noncentrosymmetric Topological Materials ZrRuAs

Recently, the hexagonal phase of ternary transition metal pnictides TT'X (T = Zr, Hf; T'= Ru; X = P, As), which are well-known noncentrosymmetric superconductors, were predicted to host nontrivial bulk topology. In this work, we systematically investigate the electronic responses of ZrRuAs to external pressure. At ambient pressure, ZrRuAs show superconductivity with Tc ~ 7.74 K, while a large upper critical field ~ 13.03 T is obtained for ZrRuAs, which is comparable to the weak-coupling Pauli limit. The resistivity of ZrRuAs exhibits a non-monotonic evolution with increasing pressure. The superconducting transition temperature Tc increases with applied pressure and reaches a maximum value of 7.93 K at 2.1 GPa, followed by a decrease. The nontrivial topology is robust and persists up to the high-pressure regime. Considering both robust superconductivity and intriguing topology in this material, our results could contribute to studies of the interplay between topological electronic states and superconductivity.

CATCH: Chasing All Transients Constellation Hunters Space Mission

In time-domain astronomy, a substantial number of transients will be discovered by multi-wavelength and multi-messenger observatories, posing a great challenge for follow-up capabilities. We have thus proposed an intelligent X-ray constellation, the Chasing All Transients Constellation Hunters (CATCH) space mission. Consisting of 126 micro-satellites in three types, CATCH will have the capability to perform follow-up observations for a large number of different types of transients simultaneously. Each satellite in the constellation will carry lightweight X-ray optics and use a deployable mast to increase the focal length. The combination of different optics and detector systems enables different types of satellites to have multiform observation capabilities, including timing, spectroscopy, imaging, and polarization. Controlled by the intelligent system, different satellites can cooperate to perform uninterrupted monitoring, all-sky follow-up observations, and scanning observations with a flexible field of view (FOV) and multi-dimensional observations. Therefore, CATCH will be a powerful mission to study the dynamic universe. Here, we present the current design of the spacecraft, optics, detector system, constellation configuration and observing modes, as well as the development plan.

Expected $H\toμ^{+}μ^{-}$ measurement precision with $e^{+}e^{-}\to Z(q\bar{q})H$ production at the CEPC

A search for the dimuon decay of the Standard Model Higgs boson is performed using the Monte Carlo simulated events to mimic data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.6 ab$^{-1}$ collected with the Circular Electron-Positron Collider detector in $e^{+}e^{-}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=240$ GeV. The paper studies $e^{+}e^{-}\to ZH,\,Z\to q\bar{q},\,H\toμ^{+}μ^{-}$ process, and the expected significance considering only the data statistical uncertainty over the background-only hypothesis for a Higgs boson with a mass of 125 GeV is found to be 6.1$σ$, corresponding to the precision of 19%. The systematic impacts from the background Monte Carlo statistical fluctuations are estimated to be negligible. The dependence of the measurement accuracy on the muon momentum resolution of the CEPC detector has been investigated. It is found that the muon momentum resolution has to be better than 204 MeV to discover the $H\toμμ$ process at the nominal integrated luminosity. And if the resolution is 100% worse than the designed parameter, the integrated luminosity is needed to be greater than 7.2 ab$^{-1}$ to reach 5$σ$ significance.
