Regularity of Kähler-Ricci flows on Fano manifolds

In this paper, we will establish a regularity theory for the Kähler-Ricci flow on Fano $n$-manifolds with Ricci curvature bounded in $L^p$-norm for some $p > n$. Using this regularity theory, we will also solve a long-standing conjecture for dimension 3. As an application, we give a new proof of the Yau-Tian-Donaldson conjecture for Fano 3-manifolds. The results have been announced in \cite{TiZh12b}.

Stability of pairs

This is essentially an expository note based on S. Paul's works on the stability of pairs. Its connection to K-stability will be also discussed.

Regularity results for pluriclosed flow

In prior work the authors introduced a parabolic flow of pluriclosed metrics. Here we give improved regularity results for solutions to this equation. Furthermore, we exhibit this equation as the gradient flow of the lowest eigenvalue of a certain Schrödinger operator, and show the existence of an expanding entropy functional for this flow. Finally, we motivate a conjectural picture of the optimal regularity results for this flow, and discuss some of the consequences.

Isoperimetric inequality under Kähler Ricci flow

Let $({\M}, g(t))$ be a Kähler Ricci flow with positive first Chern class. We prove a uniform isoperimetric inequality for all time. In the process we also prove a Cheng-Yau type log gradient bound for positive harmonic functions on $({\M}, g(t))$, and a Poincaré inequality without assuming the Ricci curvature is bounded from below.

Regularity of Kähler-Ricci flow

In this short note we announce a regularity theorem for Kähler-Ricci flow on a compact Fano manifold (Kähler manifold with positive first Chern class) and its application to the limiting behavior of Kähler-Ricci flow on Fano 3-manifolds. Moreover, we also present a partial $C^0$ estimate to the Kähler-Ricci flow under the regularity assumption, which extends previous works on Kähler-Einstein metrics and shrinking Kähler-Ricci solitons (cf. \cite{Ti90}, \cite{DoSu12}, \cite{Ti12}, \cite{PSS12}). The detailed proof will appear in \cite{TiZh13}.

The Yang-Mills α-flow in vector bundles over four manifolds and its applications

In this paper, we introduce an α-flow for the Yang-Mills functional in vector bundles over four dimensional Riemannian manifolds, and establish global existence of a unique smooth solution to the α-flow with smooth initial value. We prove that the limit of solutions of the α-flow as α\to 1 is a weak solution to the Yang-Mills flow. By an application of the α-flow, we then follow the idea of Sacks and Uhlenbeck to prove some existence results for Yang-Mills connections and improve the minimizing result of the Yang-Mills functional of Sedlacek.

Symplectic curvature flow

We introduce a parabolic flow of almost Kahler structures, providing an approach to constructing canonical geometric structures on symplectic manifolds. We exhibit this flow as one of a family of parabolic flows of almost Hermitian structures, generalizing our previous work on parabolic flows of Hermitian metrics. We exhibit a long time existence obstruction for solutions to this flow by showing certain smoothing estimates for the curvature and torsion. We end with a discussion of the limiting objects as well as some open problems related to the symplectic curvature flow.

On the structure of almost Einstein manifolds

In this paper, we study the structure of the limit space of a sequence of almost Einstein manifolds, which are generalizations of Einstein manifolds. Roughly speaking, such manifolds are the initial manifolds of some normalized Ricci flows whose scalar curvatures are almost constants over space-time in the $L^1$-sense, Ricci curvatures are bounded from below at the initial time. Under the non-collapsed condition, we show that the limit space of a sequence of almost Einstein manifolds has most properties which is known for the limit space of Einstein manifolds. As applications, we can apply our structure results to study the properties of Kähler manifolds.

Generalized Kahler Geometry and the Pluriclosed Flow

In prior work the authors introduced a parabolic flow for pluriclosed metrics, referred to as pluriclosed flow. We also demonstrated that this flow, after certain gauge transformations, gives a class of solutions to the renormalization group flow of the nonlinear sigma model with B-field. Using these transformations, we show that our pluriclosed flow preserves generalized Kahler structures in a natural way. Equivalently, when coupled with a nontrivial evolution equation for the two complex structures, the B-field renormalization group flow also preserves generalized Kahler structure. We emphasize that it is crucial to evolve the complex structures in the right way to establish this fact.

Bounding scalar curvature for global solutions of the Kahler-Ricci flow

We show that the scalar curvature is uniformly bounded for the normalized Kahler-Ricci flow on a Kahler manifold with semi-ample canonical bundle. In particular, the normalized Kahler-Ricci flow has long time existence if and only if the scalar curvature is uniformly bounded, for Kahler surfaces, projective manifolds of complex dimension three, and for projective manifolds of all dimensions if assuming the abundance conjecture.

Supremum of Perelman's entropy and Kähler-Ricci flow on a Fano manifold

In this paper, we extend the method in [TZhu5] to study the energy level $L(\cdot)$ of Perelman's entropy $λ(\cdot)$ for Kähler-Ricci flow on a Fano manifold. Consequently, we first compute the supremum of $λ(\cdot)$ in Kähler class $2πc_1(M)$ under an assumption that the modified Mabuchi's K-energy $μ(\cdot)$ defined in [TZhu2] is bounded from below. Secondly, we give an alternative proof to the main theorem about the convergence of Kähler-Ricci flow in [TZhu3].

Convergence of Kähler-Ricci flow on Fano manifolds, II

In this paper, we give an alternative proof for the convergence of Kähler-Ricci flow on a Fano mnaifold $(M,J)$. This proof differs from that in [TZ3]. Moreover, we generalize the main theorem of [TZ3] to the case that $(M,J)$ may not admit any Kähler-Einstein metrics.

Degeneration of Kähler-Ricci solitons

Let $(Y, d)$ be a Gromov-Hausdorff limit of $n$-dimensional closed shrinking Kähler-Ricci solitons with uniformly bounded volumes and Futaki invariants. We prove that off a closed subset of codimension at least 4, Y is a smooth manifold satisfying a shrinking Kähler-Ricci soliton equation. A similar convergence result for Kähler-Ricci flow of positive first Chern class is also obtained.

The Kahler-Ricci flow through singularities

We prove the existence and uniqueness of the weak Kahler-Ricci flow on projective varieties with log terminal singularities. It is also shown that the weak Kahler-Ricci flow can be uniquely continued through divisorial contractions and flips if they exist. We then propose an analytic version of the Minimal Model Program with Ricci flow.

A parabolic flow of pluriclosed metrics

We define a parabolic flow of pluriclosed metrics. This flow is of the same family introduced by the authors in \cite{ST}. We study the relationship of the existence of the flow and associated static metrics topological information on the underlying complex manifold. Solutions to the static equation are automatically Hermitian-symplectic, a condition we define herein. These static metrics are classified on K3 surfaces, complex toroidal surfaces, nonminimal Hopf surfaces, surfaces of general type, and Class $\seven^+$ surfaces. To finish we discuss how the flow may potentially be used to study the topology of Class $\seven^+$ surfaces.

Geometric Structures of Collapsing Riemannian Manifolds II: N*-bundles and Almost Ricci Flat Spaces

In this paper we study collapsing sequences M_{i}-> X of Riemannian manifolds with curvature bounded or bounded away from a controlled subset. We introduce a structure over X which in an appropriate sense is dual to the N-structure of Cheeger, Fukaya and Gromov. As opposed to the N-structure, which live over the M_{i} themselves, this structure lives over X and allows for a convenient notion of global convergence as well as the appropriate background structure for doing analysis on X. This structure is new even in the case of uniformly bounded curvature and as an application we give a generalization of Gromov's Almost Flat Theorem and prove new Ricci pinching theorems which extend those known in the noncollapsed setting. There are also interesting topological consequences to the structure.
