Parity of parts and excludant statistics in partitions

In this paper, we study restricted excludant statistics depending on its parity in partitions where parts with same parity are distinct. Using $q$-series transformations, we show that generating functions of these partition statistics are related to the quantum modular forms $\s(q)$, its companion $\sigma^*(q)$ introduced by Ramanujan, and $v_2(q)$, a Nahm-type sum, introduced by Andrews. Utilizing Tauberian method, we obtain asymptotics of such sequences.

Asymptotics of the shifted finite differences of the overpatition function and a problem of Wang--Xie--Zhang

Let $\overline{p}(n)$ denote the overpartition function, and for $j\in \mathbb{N}$, $\Delta^r_j$ denote the $r$-fold applications of the shifted difference operator $\Delta_j$ defined by $\Delta_j(a)(n):=a(n)-a(n-j)$. The main goal of this paper is to derive an asymptotic expansion of $\Delta^r_j(\overline{p})(n)$ with an effective error bound which subsequently gives an answer to a problem of Wang, Xie, and Zhang. In order to get the asymptotics of $\Delta^r_j(\overline{p})(n)$, we derive an asymptotic expansion of the shifted overpartition function $\overline{p}(n+k)$ for any integer $k\neq 0$.

Asymptotics and inequalities for the distinct partition function

In this paper, we give explicit error bounds for the asymptotic expansion of the shifted distinct partition function $q(n +s)$ for any nonnegative integer $s$. Then based on this refined asymptotic formula, we give the exact thresholds of $n$ for the inequalities derived from the invariants of the quartic binary form, the double Tur\'{a}n inequalities, the Laguerre inequalities and their corresponding companion versions.

Asymptotic expansion for the Fourier coefficients associated with the inverse of the modular discriminant function $Δ$

There have been a plethora of investigations carried out in studying inequalities for the Fourier coefficients of weakly holomorphic modular forms, for example, on the partition function. Recently, Bringmann, Kane, Rolen, and Tripp studied asymptotics for the $k$-colored partition function and more generally, for the fractional partitions arising from the Nekrasov-Okounkov formula which in turn allowed them to prove generalized multiplicative inequalities. Motivated by their idea to find interesting inequalities for the $k$-colored partition functions, denoted by $p_k(n)$, in this paper, we prove a family of inequalities for the $p_{24}(n)$. The main aim of this paper is to study the asymptotic expansion with an effective estimate for the error bound regarding the Fourier coefficients of the modular form $1/Δ$ (up to a constant $c$ and a power of $q$), where $Δ$ is the modular discriminant function and a well-known combinatorial interpretation for the associated coefficient sequence is called $24$-colored partitions, denoted by $p_{24}(n)$. Consequently, we show that $p_{24}(n)$ satisfies $2$-$\log$-concavity, Turán inequality of order $3$, and Laguerre inequalities of order $m$ with $2\le m\le 8$ eventually. Our method of estimations for the error term of the asymptotic expansion for $p_{24}(n)$ can be adapted in a more general paradigm where the Fourier coefficients of a certain class of Dedekind-eta quotients which are essentially a modular form of negative weight, admit a Rademacher type exact formula involving the $I$-Bessel function of positive order.

Asymptotic Growth of $(-1)^{r} Δ^r \log \sqrt[n]{\overline{p}(n)/n^α}$ and the Reverse Higher Order Turán Inequalities for $\sqrt[n]{\overline{p}(n)/n^α}$

Let $\overline{p}(n)$ denote the overpartition function. In this paper, we study the asymptotic growth of finite difference of logarithm of $\sqrt[n]{\overline{p}(n)/n^α}$ for $α$ being a non-negative real number, namely $(-1)^{r}Δ^r \log \sqrt[n]{\overline{p}(n)/n^α}$ by presenting an inequality of it with a symmetric upper and lower bound. Consequently, we arrive at log-convexity of $\sqrt[n]{\overline{p}(n)}$ and $\sqrt[n]{\overline{p}(n)/n}$, previously studied by the author. The another main objective of this paper is to introduce the notion of the reverse higher order Turán inequalities and we prove this for $\sqrt[n]{\overline{p}(n)/n^α}$, which not only generalize the study of Sun, Chen, and Zheng but also depicts the non real-rootedness of the Jensen polynomial associated with the sequence mentioned before.

Order-Degree-Height Surfaces for Linear Operators

It is known for linear operators with polynomial coefficients annihilating a given D-finite function that there is a trade-off between order and degree. Raising the order may give room for lowering the degree. The relationship between order and degree is typically described by a hyperbola known as the order-degree curve. In this paper, we add the height into the picture, i.e., a measure for the size of the coefficients in the polynomial coefficients. For certain situations, we derive relationships between order, degree, and height that can be viewed as order-degree-height surfaces.

Higher order log-concavity of the overpartition function and its consequences

Let $\bar{p}(n)$ denote the overpartition function. In this paper, we study the asymptotic higher order $\log$-concavity property of the overpatition function in a similar framework done by Hou and Zhang for the partition function. This will enable us to move on further in order to prove $\log$-concavity of overpartitions, explicitly by studying the asymptotic expansion of the quotient $\bar{p}(n-1)\bar{p}(n+1)/\bar{p}(n)^2$ upto a certain order so that one can finally ends up with the phenomena of $2$-$\log$-concavity and higher order Turán property of $\bar{p}(n)$ by following a sort of unified approach.

Inequalities for higher order differences of the logarithm of the overpartition function and a problem of Wang-Xie-Zhang

Let $\overline{p}(n)$ denote the overpartition function. In this paper, our primary goal is to study the asymptotic behavior of the finite differences of the logarithm of the overpartition function, i.e., $(-1)^{r-1}Δ^r \log \p(n)$, by studying the inequality of the following form $$\log \Bigl(1+\dfrac{C(r)}{n^{r-1/2}}-\dfrac{C_1(r)}{n^{r}}\Bigr)<(-1)^{r-1}Δ^r \log \p(n) <\log \Bigl(1+\dfrac{C(r)}{n^{r-1/2}}\Bigr)\ \text{for}\ n \geq N(r),$$ where $C(r), C_1(r), \text{and}\ N(r)$ are computable constants depending on the positive integer $r$, determined explicitly. This solves a problem posed by Wang, Xie and Zhang in the context of searching for a better lower bound of $(-1)^{r-1}Δ^r \log \p(n)$ than $0$. By settling the problem, we are able to show that \begin{equation*} \lim_{n\rightarrow \infty}(-1)^{r-1}Δ^r \log \p(n) =\dfracπ{2}\Bigl(\dfrac{1}{2}\Bigr)_{r-1}n^{\frac{1}{2}-r}. \end{equation*}

Log-convexity and the overpartition function

Let $\overline{p}(n)$ denote the overpartition function. In this paper, we obtain an inequality for the sequence $Δ^{2}\log \ \sqrt[n-1]{\overline{p}(n-1)/(n-1)^α}$ which states that \begin{equation*} \log \biggl(1+\frac{3π}{4n^{5/2}}-\frac{11+5α}{n^{11/4}}\biggr) < Δ^{2} \log \ \sqrt[n-1]{\overline{p}(n-1)/(n-1)^α} < \log \biggl(1+\frac{3π}{4n^{5/2}}\biggr) \ \ \text{for}\ n \geq N(α), \end{equation*} where $α$ is a non-negative real number, $N(α)$ is a positive integer depending on $α$ and $Δ$ is the difference operator with respect to $n$. This inequality consequently implies $\log$-convexity of $\bigl\{\sqrt[n]{\overline{p}(n)/n}\bigr\}_{n \geq 19}$ and $\bigl\{\sqrt[n]{\overline{p}(n)}\bigr\}_{n \geq 4}$. Moreover, it also establishes the asymptotic growth of $Δ^{2} \log \ \sqrt[n-1]{\overline{p}(n-1)/(n-1)^α}$ by showing $\underset{n \rightarrow \infty}{\lim} Δ^{2} \log \ \sqrt[n]{\overline{p}(n)/n^α} = \dfrac{3 π}{4 n^{5/2}}.$

Inequalities for the overpartition function arising from determinants

Let $\overline{p}(n)$ denote the overpartition funtion. This paper presents the $2$-$\log$-concavity property of $\overline{p}(n)$ by considering a more general inequality of the following form \begin{equation*} \begin{vmatrix} \overline{p}(n) & \overline{p}(n+1) & \overline{p}(n+2) \\ \overline{p}(n-1) & \overline{p}(n) & \overline{p}(n+1) \\ \overline{p}(n-2) & \overline{p}(n-1) & \overline{p}(n) \end{vmatrix} > 0, \end{equation*} which holds for all $n \geq 42$.
