Intertwining noncommutativity with gravity and particle physics

Here we present an overview on the various works, in which many collaborators have contributed, regarding the interesting dipole of noncommutativity and physics. In brief, we present the features that noncommutativity triggers both in the fields of gravity and particle physics, from a matrix-realized perspective, with the notion of noncommutative gauge theories to play the most central role in the whole picture. Also, under the framework of noncommutativity, we examine the possibility of unifying the two fields (gravity-particle physics) in a single configuration.

From Hopf algebra to braided $L_\infty$-algebra

We show that an $L_\infty$-algebra can be extended to a graded Hopf algebra with a codifferential. Then we twist this extended $L_\infty$-algebra with a Drinfel'd twist, simultaneously twisting its modules. Taking the $L_\infty$-algebra as its own (Hopf) module, we obtain the recently proposed braided $L_\infty$-algebra. The Hopf algebra morphisms are identified with the strict $L_\infty$-morphisms, while the braided $L_\infty$-morphisms define a more general $L_\infty$-action of twisted $L_\infty$-algebras.

Axion gravitodynamics, Lense-Thirring effect, and gravitational waves

We investigate physical implications of a gravitational analog of axion electrodynamics with a parity-violating gravitoelectromagnetic theta term. This is related to the Nieh-Yan topological invariant in gravity with torsion, in contrast to the well-studied gravitational Chern-Simons term quadratic in curvature, coupled via a dynamical axionlike scalar field. Axion gravitodynamics is the corresponding linearized theory. We find that potentially observable effects are over 80 orders of magnitude stronger than for its Chern-Simons counterpart and could be in reach for detection by experiments in the near future. For a near-Earth scenario, we derive corrections to the Lense-Thirring effect and compare them to data from satellite-based experiments (Gravity Probe B). For gravitational waves, we find modified dispersion relations, derive the corresponding polarization-dependent modified group and phase velocities, and compare them to data from neutron star mergers (GW170817) to derive even stronger bounds.

$N=1$ trinification from dimensional reduction of $N=1$, $10D$ $E_8$ over $SU(3)/U(1)\times U(1)\times Z_3$ and its phenomenological consequences

We present an extension of the Standard Model that results from the dimensional reduction of the $\mathcal{N}=1$, $10D$ $E_8$ group over a $M_4 \times B_0/ \mathbf{Z}_3 $ space, where $B_0$ is the nearly-Kähler manifold $SU(3)/U(1) \times U(1)$ and $\mathbf{Z}_3$ is a freely acting discrete group on $B_0$. Using the Wilson flux breaking mechanism we are left in four dimensions with an $\mathcal{N}=1$ $SU(3)^3$ gauge theory. Below the unification scale we have a two Higgs doublet model in a split-like supersymmetric version of the Standard Model, which yields third generation quark and light Higgs masses within the experimental limits and predicts the LSP $\sim $ 1500 $GeV$.

Noncommutative Gauge Theory and Gravity in Three Dimensions

The Einstein-Hilbert action in three dimensions and the transformation rules for the dreibein and spin connection can be naturally described in terms of gauge theory. In this spirit, we use covariant coordinates in noncommutative gauge theory in order to describe 3D gravity in the framework of noncommutative geometry. We consider 3D noncommutative spaces based on SU(2) and SU(1,1), as foliations of fuzzy 2-spheres and fuzzy 2-hyperboloids respectively. Then we construct a U(2)$\times$ U(2) and a GL(2,$\mathbb{C}$) gauge theory on them, identifying the corresponding noncommutative vielbein and spin connection. We determine the transformations of the fields and an action in terms of a matrix model and discuss its relation to 3D gravity.
