Large and Fun CP Violation in B Meson Decays: Where to Search?

The best place to search for direct CP violation is the already observed charmless $b\to s$ modes. In SM with FSI, $a_{CP}$ in $Kπ$ modes could be as large as 20-30% but differ in sign between $K^-π^+/K^-π^0$ and $\bar K^0 π^-$. We illustrate possible New Physics effects that could lead to $a_{CP}$ of order 40-60% in $Kπ$ and $ϕK$ modes distinguishable from FSI. $b\to sγ$ modes can also exhibit interesting asymmetries.

(Vector) Glueballs and Charmonium Decay Revisited

From the $0^{++}$ glueball candidate we argue that the $1^{--}$ glueball $O$ to be near in mass to $J/ψ$. This is supported by the recent null search for $ψ^\prime \to ρπ, K^*\bar K$, while absence of distortion in the energy scan of $J/ψ\to ρπ$ indicates that $Γ_O \gg Γ_{J/ψ}$. $O$ may also play a role in the OZI violating $\bar p p \to ϕγ, ϕπ$ production puzzle.

Direct $CP$ Violation in a Variety of $B$ Decays

We give a brief review of direct $CP$ violation effects in charmless $B$ decays, both at the inclusive and at the exclusive level. It is emphasized that typical exclusive final states are composed of 2--4 $K$ or $π$'s, hence particle identification (in terms of $K/π$ separation) is of crucial importance for studying $CP$ violation in these modes. Another kind of ``charmless" final state is also emphasized: $b\to dc\bar c$. The decay rate is tree dominant, while ``$q^2$" is necessarily above $c\bar c$ threshold hence in the domain of perturbative QCD. The $CP$ asymmetry is therefore relatively clean and reliable. Theoretically, a few $\times 10^7$ $B$'s would suffice if one could accumulate modes like $B^+\to D^{+\left(*\right)} \bar D^{0\left(*\right)}$.
