Limits of Rauzy graphs of languages with subexponential complexity

To a subshift over a finite alphabet, one can naturally associate an infinite family of finite graphs, called its Rauzy graphs. We show that for a subshift of subexponential complexity the Rauzy graphs converge to the line $\mathbf{Z}$ in the sense of Benjamini-Schramm convergence if and only if its complexity function $p(n)$ is unbounded and satisfies $\lim_n\frac{p(n+1)}{p(n)} = 1$. We then apply this criterion to many examples of well-studied dynamical systems. If the subshift is moreover uniquely ergodic then we show that the limit of labelled Rauzy graphs if it exists can be identified with the unique invariant measure. In addition we consider an example of a non uniquely ergodic system recently studied by Cassaigne and Kaboré and identify a continuum of invariant measures with subsequential limits of labelled Rauzy graphs.

Scaling entropy growth gap

The scaling entropy of a p.m.p. action is a slow-entropy type invariant that characterizes the intermediate growth of entropy in a dynamical system. An amenable group $G$ has a scaling entropy growth gap if the scaling entropy of any its free p.m.p. action admits a non-trivial lower bound. We prove that the group $S_\infty$ of all finite permutations has a scaling entropy growth gap as well as the Houghton group $\mathcal{H}_2$. By proving this, we show that there are finitely generated amenable groups with this property.

Non-existence of a universal zero entropy system via generic actions of almost complete growth

We prove that a generic p.m.p. action of a countable amenable group $G$ has scaling entropy that can not be dominated by a given rate of growth. As a corollary, we obtain that there does not exist a topological action of $G$ for which the set of ergodic invariant measures coincides with the set of all ergodic p.m.p. $G$-systems of entropy zero. We also prove that a generic action of a residually finite amenable group has scaling entropy that can not be bounded from below by a given sequence. We also show an example of an amenable group that has such lower bound for every free p.m.p. action.

Scaling Entropy of Unstable Systems

In this work, we study the slow entropy type invariant of a dynamical system proposed by A. M. Vershik. We provide an explicit construction of a system whose class of scaling entropy sequences is empty. For this unstable case, we introduce an upgraded notion of the invariant, generalize subadditivity results, and provide a complete series of examples.
