Sparse Computations in Deep Learning Inference

The computational demands of modern Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) are immense and constantly growing. While training costs usually capture public attention, inference demands are also contributing in significant computational, energy and environmental footprints. Sparsity stands out as a critical mechanism for drastically reducing these resource demands. However, its potential remains largely untapped and is not yet fully incorporated in production AI systems. To bridge this gap, this work provides the necessary knowledge and insights for performance engineers keen to get involved in deep learning inference optimization. In particular, in this work we: a) discuss the various forms of sparsity that can be utilized in DNN inference, b) explain how the original dense computations translate to sparse kernels, c) provide an extensive bibliographic review of the state-of-the-art in the implementation of these kernels for CPUs and GPUs, d) discuss the availability of sparse datasets in support of sparsity-related research and development, e) explore the current software tools and frameworks that provide robust sparsity support, and f) present evaluation results of different implementations of the key SpMM and SDDMM kernels on CPU and GPU platforms. Ultimately, this paper aims to serve as a resource for performance engineers seeking to develop and deploy highly efficient sparse deep learning models in productions.

Securing the Future of IVR: AI-Driven Innovation with Agile Security, Data Regulation, and Ethical AI Integration

The rapid digitalization of communication systems has elevated Interactive Voice Response (IVR) technologies to become critical interfaces for customer engagement. With Artificial Intelligence (AI) now driving these platforms, ensuring secure, compliant, and ethically designed development practices is more imperative than ever. AI-powered IVRs leverage Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning (ML) to personalize interactions, automate service delivery, and optimize user experiences. However, these innovations expose systems to heightened risks, including data privacy breaches, AI decision opacity, and model security vulnerabilities. This paper analyzes the evolution of IVRs from static code-based designs to adaptive AI-driven systems, presenting a cybersecurity-centric perspective. We propose a practical governance framework that embeds agile security principles, compliance with global data legislation, and user-centric ethics. Emphasizing privacy-by-design, adaptive risk modeling, and transparency, the paper argues that ethical AI integration is not a feature but a strategic imperative. Through this multidimensional lens, we highlight how modern IVRs can transition from communication tools to intelligent, secure, and accountable digital frontlines-resilient against emerging threats and aligned with societal expectations.

The Future of IPTV: Security, AI Integration, 5G, and Next-Gen Streaming

The evolution of Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) has transformed the landscape of digital broadcasting by leveraging high-speed internet connectivity to deliver high-quality multimedia content. IPTV provides a dynamic and interactive television experience through managed networks, ensuring superior Quality of Service (QoS) compared to open-network Internet TV. This study explores the technical infrastructure of IPTV, including its network architecture, data compression techniques, and the role of protocols such as IGMP and RTSP. It also examines security challenges, including encryption, digital rights management (DRM), and authentication mechanisms that safeguard IPTV services from unauthorized access and piracy. Moreover, the paper analyzes the distinctions between IPTV and open-network Internet TV, highlighting their respective advantages and limitations in terms of service control, bandwidth optimization, and content security. The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) in IPTV enhances personalized content recommendations and predictive analytics, leading to improved user engagement and efficient network management. Additionally, emerging technologies such as 5G and cloud-based IPTV services are explored for their potential to further revolutionize the industry. While IPTV presents a robust alternative to traditional broadcasting, challenges such as bandwidth constraints, cybersecurity threats, and regulatory compliance remain significant. The study concludes that IPTV's future success will depend on advancements in network infrastructure, AI-driven optimizations, and strategic regulatory adaptations. As IPTV continues to evolve, hybrid models integrating IPTV and open-network streaming services are expected to enhance content accessibility, security, and overall user experience.

Design Multiband Monopole and Microstrip Patch Antennas using High Frequency Structure Simulator

This paper describes the design, construction and testing of a dual-band monopole microstrip patch antenna to operate in the GSM and DCS bands. For compactness the monopole antenna is mounted on top of a FR4 substrate and is designed as a planar structure which can be wrapped into a box like structure. The performance characteristics of the wrapped dual band monopole antenna are simulated on Ansoft HFSS before fabrication and testing on a Network Analyzer. The simulated HFSS return loss of the antenna shows broad agreement with experiment over the frequency range from 500MHz to 4GHz. Radiation patterns are generated in each band of operation of the antenna. The effect of feedline impedance matching on the performance of the monopole antenna is discussed.
