In this paper, we expand certain aspects of Nielsen periodic point theory from tori and nilmanifolds to infra-nilmanifolds. We show that infra-nilmanifolds are essentially reducible to the GCD and essentially toral. With these structural properties in mind, we develop a method to compute the full Nielsen-Jiang number $NF_n(f)$. We also determine for which maps it holds that $NF_n(f)=N(f^n)$, for all $n$.
In this paper, we show that for every non-nilpotent hyperbolic map $f$ on an infra-nilmanifold, the $\textrm{HPer}(f)$ is cofinite in $\mathbb{N}$. This generalizes a similar result for expanding maps. Moreover, we prove that for every nilpotent map $f$ on an infra-nilmanifold, $\textrm{HPer}(f)=\{1\}$.
In this paper, we will list all possible self-maps on infra-nilmanifolds up to dimension three and we will give the Nielsen zeta function for any of those maps.
In this paper we will show that for any map $f$ on an infra-nilmanifold, the Nielsen number $N(f)$ of this map is either equal to $|L(f)|$, where $L(f)$ is the Lefschetz number of that map, or equal to the expression $|L(f)-L(f_+)|$, where $f_+$ is a lift of $f$ to a 2-fold covering of that infra-nilmanifold. By exploiting the exact nature of this relationship for all powers of $f$, we prove that the Nielsen dynamical zeta function for a map on an infra-nilmanifold is always a rational function.
