Parametrisation and dictionary for CP violating Higgs boson interactions

Searches for charge-parity (CP) violating interactions of the Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson are a key priority of the LHC physics program. Experimental results from ATLAS and CMS are often reinterpreted within a variety of theoretical parametrisations, the most commonly used being the Higgs basis, $κ$'s and angles, CP fractions and effective field theories (EFT) such as the SMEFT and the Higgs EFT. However, differing conventions and assumptions across the literature make the translation between these parametrisations nontrivial and prone to inconsistencies. In this paper, we provide a unified framework and construct explicit dictionaries connecting these different approaches. This facilitates a transparent comparison between theoretical studies and experimental analyses, enabling more robust interpretations of CP violating effects in Higgs boson interactions.

Precise Standard-Model predictions for polarised Z-boson pair production and decay at the LHC

Providing accurate theoretical predictions in the Standard Model for processes with polarised electroweak bosons is crucial to understand more in-depth the electroweak-symmetry breaking mechanism and to enhance the sensitivity to potential new-physics effects. Motivated by the rapidly increasing number of polarisation analyses of di-boson processes with LHC data, we carry out a comprehensive study of the inclusive production of two polarised Z bosons in the decay channel with four charged leptons. We perform a detailed comparison of fixed-order predictions obtained with various Monte Carlo programs which rely on different signal-definition strategies, assessing non-resonant and interference effects by contrasting polarised results with unpolarised and full off-shell ones. For the first time, we accomplish the combination of NNLO QCD and NLO EW corrections, setting the new state-of-the-art perturbative accuracy for polarised Z-boson pairs at the LHC. The impact of parton-shower matching and multi-jet merging is investigated by scrutinising calculations obtained with event generators that are typically used in experimental analyses. Integrated and differential results are discussed in a realistic fiducial setup and compared to publicly available ATLAS results.

A sensitivity study of VBS and diboson WW to dimension-6 EFT operators at the LHC

We present a parton-level study of electro-weak production of vector-boson pairs at the Large Hadron Collider, establishing the sensitivity to a set of dimension-six operators in the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT). Different final states are statistically combined, and we discuss how the orthogonality and interdependence of different analyses must be considered to obtain the most stringent constraints. The main novelties of our study are the inclusion of SMEFT effects in non-resonant diagrams and in irreducible QCD backgrounds, and an exhaustive template analysis of optimal observables for each operator and process considered. We also assess for the first time the sensitivity of vector-boson-scattering searches in semileptonic final states.

Measuring the Higgs self-coupling via Higgs-pair production at a 100 TeV p-p collider

Higgs pair production provides a unique handle for measuring the strength of the Higgs self interaction and constraining the shape of the Higgs potential. Among the proposed future facilities, a circular 100 TeV proton-proton collider would provide the most precise measurement of this crucial quantity. In this work, we perform a detailed analysis of the most promising decay channels and derive the expected sensitivity of their combination, assuming an integrated luminosity of 30 ab$^{-1}$. Depending on the assumed systematic uncertainties, we observe that the Higgs self-coupling will be measured with a precision in the range 3.4 - 7.8% at 68% confidence level.

Open-charm meson elliptic flow measurement in Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt(sNN) = 2.76 TeV with ALICE at the LHC

A Large Ion Collider Experiment (ALICE) is one of the four large experiments at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), and it is dedicated to the study of ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions, with the goal of investigating the properties of the high-density state of QCD matter produced in these collisions. The study of D meson production azimuthal anisotropy and the measurement of their elliptic flow (v2) can provide insight on the degree of thermalisation of charm quarks in the medium and on the charm hadronization mechanism. We present the measurement of the D+ and D0 meson v2 in Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt(sNN)=2.76 TeV at the LHC with ALICE. We discuss the details of the analysis and we show the results obtained from data samples collected in 2011.
