Kato meets Bakry-Émery

We prove that any complete Riemannian manifold with negative part of the Ricci curvature in a suitable Dynkin class is bi-Lipschitz equivalent to a finite-dimensional $\mathrm{RCD}$ space, by building upon the transformation rule of the Bakry-Émery condition under time change. We apply this result to show that our previous results on the limits of closed Riemannian manifolds satisfying a uniform Kato bound carry over to limits of complete manifolds. We also obtain a weak version of the Bishop-Gromov monotonicity formula for manifolds satisfying a strong Kato bound.

Strong Kato limit can be branching

We provide an example of a non-collapsed strong Kato limit that is branching, essentially branching, and satisfies neither the $\mathrm{CD}(K,\infty)$ nor the $\mathrm{MCP}(K,N)$ conditions for any $K \in \mathbb{R}$ and $N \in [1,+\infty)$. In particular, this space is not a Ricci limit space. We also construct a compact non-collapsed strong Kato limit that cannot be obtained as Gromov-Hausdorff limit of closed Riemannian surfaces satisfying a uniform small $L^p$ bound \`a la Petersen--Wei.

Type problem, the first eigenvalue and Hardy inequalities

In this paper, we study the relationship between the type problem and the asymptotic behaviour of the first (Dirichlet) eigenvalues $λ_1(B_r)$ of ``balls'' $B_r:=\{ρ r_0$ \[ r^2 λ_1(B_r)\ge γ>0, \] we obtain a sharp estimate of the volume growth: $|B_r|\ge cr^{μ(γ)}.$ Moreover when $γ>j_0^2\approx 5.784$, where $j_0$ denotes the first positive zero of the Bessel function $J_0$, then $M$ is hyperbolic and we have a Hardy type inequality. In the case where $r_0=0$, a sharp Hardy type inequality holds. These spectral conditions are satisfied if one assumes that $Δρ^2\geq2μ(γ)>0$. In particular, when $\inf_MΔρ^2>4$, $M$ is hyperbolic and we get a sharp Hardy type inequality. Related results for finite volume case are also studied.

Boundedness of Schr{ö}dinger operator in energy space

On a complete weighted Riemannian manifold $(M^n,g,μ)$ satisfying the doubling condition and the Poincar{é} inequalities, we characterize the class of function $V$ such that the Schr{ö}dinger operator $Δ-V$ maps the homogeneous Sobolev space $W_o^{1,2} (M)$ to its dual space. On Euclidean space, this result is due to Maz'ya and Verbitsky. In the proof of our result, we investigate the weighted $L^2$-boundedness of the Hodge projector.

Torus stability under Kato bounds on the Ricci curvature

We show two stability results for a closed Riemannian manifold whose Ricci curvature is small in the Kato sense and whose first Betti number is equal to the dimension. The first one is a geometric stability result stating that such a manifold is Gromov-Hausdorff close to a flat torus. The second one states that, under a stronger assumption, such a manifold is diffeomorphic to a torus: this extends a result by Colding and Cheeger-Colding obtained in the context of a lower bound on the Ricci curvature.

The Yamabe flow on asymptotically Euclidean manifolds with nonpositive Yamabe constant

We study the Yamabe flow on asymptotically flat manifolds with non-positive Yamabe constant $Y\leq 0$. Previous work by the second and third named authors \cite{ChenWang} showed that while the Yamabe flow always converges in a global weighted sense when $Y>0$, the flow must diverge when $Y\leq 0$. We show here in the $Y\leq 0$ case however that after suitable rescalings, the Yamabe flow starting from any asymptotically flat manifold must converge to the unique positive function which solves the Yamabe problem on a compactification of the original manifold.

Limits of manifolds with a Kato bound on the Ricci curvature. II

We prove that metric measure spaces obtained as limits of closed Riemannian manifolds with Ricci curvature satisfying a uniform Kato bound are rectifiable. In the case of a non-collapsing assumption and a strong Kato bound, we additionally show that for any $α\in (0,1)$ the regular part of the space lies in an open set with the structure of a $\mathcal{C}^α$-manifold.

Convergence of the Yamabe flow on singular spaces with positive Yamabe constant

In this work, we study the convergence of the normalized Yamabe flow with positive Yamabe constant on a class of pseudo-manifolds that includes stratified spaces with iterated cone-edge metrics. We establish convergence under a low energy condition. We also prove a concentration - compactness dichotomy, and investigate what the alternatives to convergence are. We end by investigating a non-convergent example due to Viaclovsky in more detail.

Limits of manifolds with a Kato bound on the Ricci curvature

We study the structure of Gromov-Hausdorff limits of sequences of Riemannian manifolds $\{(M_α^n,g_α)\}_{α\in A}$ whose Ricci curvature satisfies a uniform Kato bound. We first obtain Mosco convergence of the Dirichlet energies to the Cheeger energy and show that tangent cones of such limits satisfy the $\mathrm{RCD}(0,n)$ condition. When assuming a non-collapsing assumption, we introduce a new family of monotone quantities, which allows us to prove that tangent cones are also metric cones. We then show the existence of a well-defined stratification in terms of splittings of tangent cones. We finally prove volume convergence to the Hausdorff $n$-measure.

A rigidity result for metric measure spaces with Euclidean heat kernel

We prove that a metric measure space equipped with a Dirichlet form admitting an Euclidean heat kernel is necessarily isometric to the Euclidean space. This helps us providing an alternative proof of Colding's celebrated almost rigidity volume theorem via a quantitative version of our main result. We also discuss the case of a metric measure space equipped with a Dirichlet form admitting a spherical heat kernel.

$A\_\infty$ weights and compactness of conformal metrics under $L^{n/2}$ curvature bounds

We study sequences of conformal deformations of a smooth closed Riemannian manifold of dimension $n$, assuming uniform volume bounds and $L^{n/2}$ bounds on their scalar curvatures. Singularities may appear in the limit. Nevertheless, we show that under such bounds the underlying metric spaces are pre-compact in the Gromov-Hausdorff topology. Our study is based on the use of $A_\infty$-weights from harmonic analysis, and provides geometric controls on the limit spaces thus obtained. Our techniques also show that any conformal deformation of the Euclidean metric on $R^n$ with infinite volume and finite $L^{n/2}$ norm of the scalar curvature satisfies the Euclidean isoperimetric inequality.

Geometric and spectral estimates based on spectral Ricci curvature assumptions

We obtain a Bonnet-Myers theorem under a spectral condition: a closed Riemannian manifold $(M^n,g)$ for which the lowest eigenvalue of the Ricci tensor $ρ$ is such that the Schrödinger operator $(n-2)Δ+ ρ$ is positive has finite fundamental group. As a continuation of our earlier results, we obtain isoperimetric inequalities from a Kato condition on the Ricci curvature. Furthermore, we obtain the Kato condition for the Ricci curvature under purely geometric assumptions.

Geometric inequalities for manifolds with Ricci curvature in the Kato class

We obtain an Euclidean volume growth results for complete Riemannian manifolds satisfying a Euclidean Sobolev inequality and a spectral type condition on the Ricci curvature. We also obtain eigenvalue estimates, heat kernel estimates, Betti number estimates for closed manifolds whose Ricci curvature is controlled in the Kato class.

Riesz transform on manifolds with quadratic curvature decay

We investigate the $L^p$-boundness of the Riesz transform on Riemannian manifolds whose Ricci curvature has quadratic decay. Two criteria for the $L^p$-unboundness of the Riesz transform are given. We recover known results about manifolds that are Euclidean or conical at infinity.

Harmonic Functions On Manifolds Whose Large Sphere Are Small

We study the growth of harmonic functions on complete Riemann-ian manifolds where the extrinsic diameter of geodesic spheres is sublinear. It is an generalization of a result of A. Kazue. We also get a Cheng and Yau estimates for the gradient of harmonic functions.

Hölder regularity of solutions for Schrödinger operators on stratified spaces

We study the regularity properties for solutions of a class of Schrödinger equations $(Δ+ V) u = 0$ on a stratified space $M$ endowed with an iterated edge metric. The focus is on obtaining optimal Hölder regularity of these solutions assuming fairly minimal conditions on the underlying metric and potential.
