Sharp regularity for degenerate fully nonlinear equations with oblique boundary conditions and Hamiltonian terms

We prove optimal boundary $C^{1,α}$ regularity for viscosity solutions of degenerate fully nonlinear uniformly elliptic equations with oblique boundary conditions and Hamiltonian terms of the form \[ \begin{cases} |Du|^γF(D^2 u) + \varrho(x)|Du|^σ = f(x) & \text{in } Ω,\\ β(x)\cdot Du+ζ(x)u = g(x) & \text{on } \partial Ω, \end{cases} \] where $γ>0$ and $0<σ\le 1+γ$. We develop a compactness framework for affine translations, linking the size of the translation to the Hamiltonian structure. This is combined with a boundary improvement-of-flatness argument adapted to oblique boundary data, yielding the optimal boundary regularity.

Weighted Orlicz-Sobolev and variable exponent Morrey regularity for fully nonlinear parabolic PDEs with oblique boundary conditions and applications

In this manuscript, we establish global weighted Orlicz-Sobolev and variable exponent Morrey-Sobolev estimates for viscosity solutions to fully nonlinear parabolic equations subject to oblique boundary conditions on a portion of the boundary, within the following framework: \begin{equation*} \left\{ \begin{array}{rclcl} F(D^2u,Du,u,x,t) - u_{t} &=& f(x,t) & \text{in} & Ω_{\mathrm{T}}, \\ β\cdot Du + γu &=& g(x,t) & \text{on} & \mathrm{S}_{\mathrm{T}}, \\ u(x, 0) &=& 0 & \text{on} & Ω_{0}, \end{array} \right. \end{equation*} where \(Ω_{\mathrm{T}} = Ω\times (0,\mathrm{T})\) denotes the parabolic cylinder with spatial base \(Ω\) (a bounded domain in \(\mathbb{R}^{n}\), \(n \geq 2\)) and temporal height \(\mathrm{T} > 0\), \(\mathrm{S}_{\mathrm{T}} = \partial Ω\times (0,\mathrm{T})\), and \(Ω_{0} = Ω\times \{0\}\). Additionally, \(f\) represents the source term of the parabolic equation, while the boundary data are given by \(β\), \(γ\), and \(g\). Our first main result is a global weighted Orlicz-Sobolev estimate for the solution, obtained under asymptotic structural conditions on the differential operator and appropriate assumptions on the boundary data, assuming that the source term belongs to the corresponding weighted Orlicz space. Leveraging these estimates, we demonstrate several applications, including a density result within the fundamental class of parabolic equations, regularity results for the related obstacle problem, and weighted Orlicz-BMO estimates for both the Hessian and the time derivative of the solution. Lastly, we derive variable exponent Morrey-Sobolev estimates for the problem via an extrapolation technique, which are of independent mathematical interest.

Global weighted Lorentz estimates of oblique tangential derivative problems for weakly convex fully nonlinear operators

In this work, we develop weighted Lorentz-Sobolev estimates for viscosity solutions of fully nonlinear elliptic equations with oblique boundary condition under weakened convexity conditions in the following configuration $F(D^{2}u, Du, u, x) = f(x)$ in $Ω$ and $β\cdot Du+γu=g$ on $\partial Ω$, where $Ω$ is a bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^{n}$ ($n \geq 2$), under suitable assumptions on the source term f, data $β$, $γ$ and g. In addition, we obtain Lorentz-Sobolev estimates for solutions to the obstacle problem and others applications.

Universal regularity estimates for solutions to fully nonlinear elliptic equations with oblique boundary data

In this work, we establish universal moduli of continuity for viscosity solutions to fully nonlinear elliptic equations with oblique boundary conditions, whose general model is given by $$ \left\{ \begin{array}{rcl} F(D^2u,x) &=& f(x) \quad \mbox{in} \,\, Ω\\ β(x) \cdot Du(x) + γ(x) \, u(x)&=& g(x) \quad \mbox{on} \,\, \partial Ω. \end{array} \right. $$ Such regularity estimates are achieved by exploring the integrability properties of $f$ based on different scenarios, making a $\text{VMO}$ assumption on the coefficients of $F$, and by considering suitable smoothness properties on the boundary data $β, γ$ and $g$. Particularly, we derive sharp estimates for borderline cases where $f \in L^n(Ω)$ and $f\in p-\textrm{BMO}(Ω)$. Additionally, for source terms in $L^p(Ω)$, for $p \in (n, \infty)$, we obtain sharp gradient estimates. Finally, we also address Schauder-type estimates for convex/concave operators and suitable Hölder data.

Sharp Hessian estimates for fully nonlinear elliptic equations under relaxed convexity assumptions, oblique boundary conditions and applications

In this work we derive global estimates for viscosity solutions to fully nonlinear elliptic equations under relaxed structural assumptions on the governing operator which are weaker than convexity and oblique boundary conditions and under suitable assumptions on the dat. Our approach makes use of geometric tangential methods, which consists of importing "fine regularity estimates" from a limiting profile, i.e., the Recession operator, associated with the original second order one via compactness and stability procedures. As a result, we devote a special attention to the borderline scenario. In such a setting, we prove that solutions enjoy BMO type estimates for their second derivatives. In the end, as another application of our findings, we obtain Hessian estimates to obstacle type problems under oblique boundary conditions and no convexity assumptions, which may have their own mathematical interest. A density result in a suitable class of viscosity solutions will be also addressed.

Free boundary regularity for a class of one-phase problems with non-homogeneous degeneracy

We consider a one-phase free boundary problem governed by doubly degenerate fully non-linear elliptic PDEs with non-zero right hand side, which should be understood as an analog (non-variational) of certain double phase functionals in the theory of non-autonomous integrals. By way of brief elucidating example, such non-linear problems in force appear in the mathematical theory of combustion, as well as in the study of some flame propagation problems. In such an environment we prove that solutions are Lipschitz continuous and they fulfil a non-degeneracy property. Furthermore, we address the Caffarelli's classification scheme: Flat and Lipschitz free boundaries are locally $C^{1, β}$ for some $0 < β(universal) < 1$.

Fully Nonlinear Singularly perturbed models with non-homogeneous degeneracy

In our work we study non-variational, nonlinear singularly perturbed elliptic models enjoying a double degeneracy character with prescribed boundary value in a domain. In such a scenario, we establish the existence of solutions. We also prove that solutions are locally (uniformly) Lipschitz continuous, and they grow in a linear fashion. Moreover, solutions and their free boundaries possess a sort of measure-theoretic and weak geometric properties. Moreover, for a restricted class of non-linearities, we prove the finiteness of the (N-1)-dimensional Hausdorff measure of level sets. We also address a complete analysis concerning the asymptotic limit as the singular parameter, which is related to one-phase solutions of inhomogeneous nonlinear free boundary problems in flame propagation and combustion theory.

Global regularity for a class of fully nonlinear PDEs with unbalanced variable degeneracy

We establish the existence and sharp global regularity results ($C^{0, γ}$, $C^{0, 1}$ and $C^{1, α}$ estimates) for a class of fully nonlinear elliptic PDEs with unbalanced variable degeneracy. In a precise way, the degeneracy law of the model switches between two different kinds of degenerate elliptic operators of variable order, according to the null set of a modulating function. Such sharp regularity estimates generalize and improve, to some extent, earlier ones via geometric treatments. Our results are consequences of geometric tangential methods and make use of compactness, localized oscillating and scaling techniques. In the end, our findings are applied in the study of a wide class of nonlinear models and free boundary problems.

Sharp and improved regularity for a class of doubly degenerate parabolic Pdes

In this manuscript we establish local Hölder regularity estimates for bounded solutions of a certain class of doubly degenerate evolution PDEs. By making use of intrinsic scaling techniques and geometric tangential methods, we derive sharp regularity estimates for such models, which depend only on universal and compatibility parameters of the problem. In such a scenario, our results are natural improvements for former ones in the context of nonlinear evolution PDEs with degenerate structure via a unified approach. As a consequence for our findings and approach, we address a Liouville type result for entire solutions of a related homogeneous problem with frozen coefficients and asymptotic estimates under a certain approximating regime, which may have their own mathematical interest. We also deliver explicit examples of degenerate PDEs where our results take place.

Sharp regularity estimates for quasilinear evolution equations

We establish sharp geometric $C^{1+α}$ regularity estimates for bounded weak solutions of evolution equations of $p$-Laplacian type. Our approach is based on geometric tangential methods, and makes use of a systematic oscillation mechanism combined with an adjusted intrinsic scaling argument.

Singularly perturbed fully nonlinear parabolic problems and their asymptotic free boundaries

We study fully nonlinear singularly perturbed parabolic equations and their limits. We show that solutions are uniformly Lipschitz continuous in space and Hölder continuous in time. For the limiting free boundary problem, we analyse the behaviour of solutions near the free boundary. We show, in particular, that, at each time level, the free boundary is a porous set and, consequently, is of Lebesgue measure zero. For rotationally invariant operators, we also derive the limiting free boundary condition.

Regularity up to the boundary for singularly perturbed fully nonlinear elliptic equations

In this article we are interested in studying regularity up to the boundary for one-phase singularly perturbed fully nonlinear elliptic problems, associated to high energy activation potentials, namely $$ F(X, \nabla u^{\varepsilon}, D^2 u^{\varepsilon}) = ζ_{\varepsilon}(u^{\varepsilon}) \quad \mbox{in} \quad Ω\subset \R^n $$ where $ζ_{\varepsilon}$ behaves asymptotically as the Dirac measure $δ_{0}$ as $\varepsilon$ goes to zero. We shall establish global gradient bounds independent of the parameter $\varepsilon$.

Optimal gradient continuity for degenerate elliptic equations

We establish new, optimal gradient continuity estimates for solutions to a class of 2nd order partial differential equations, $\mathscr{L}(X, \nabla u, D^2 u) = f$, whose diffusion properties (ellipticity) degenerate along the \textit{a priori} unknown singular set of an existing solution, $\mathscr{S}(u) := \{X : \nabla u(X) = 0 \}$. The innovative feature of our main result concerns its optimality -- the sharp, encoded smoothness aftereffects of the operator. Such a quantitative information usually plays a decisive role in the analysis of a number of analytic and geometric problems. Our result is new even for the classical equation $|\nabla u | \cdot Δu = 1$. We further apply these new estimates in the study of some well known problems in the theory of elliptic PDEs.
