Supersymmetric dark matter, catalyzed BBN, and heavy moduli in mSUGRA with gravitino LSP and stau NLSP

In mSUGRA model we assume that gravitino, the LSP, plays the role of cold dark matter in the universe, while the lightest stau, the NLSP, catalyzes primordial BBN reconciling the discrepancy between theory and observations. We have taken into account all gravitino production mechanisms, namely decay from heavy scalar fields, decay from the NLSP, and from the thermal bath. We find that the dark matter constraint is incompatible with the lower bound on the reheating temperature

Dark matter in supersymmetric models with axino LSP in Randall-Sundrum II brane model

The axino dark matter hypothesis in RSII brane model is studied. Within the framework of CMSSM we assume that the lightest neutralino or stau is the NLSP, and that the axino production has a single contribution from the NLSP decay. It is found that the axino can play the role of dark matter in the universe and we determine what the axino mass should be for different values of the five-dimensional Planck mass. An upper bound is obtained for the latter

Detectable primordial non-gaussianities and gravitational waves in k-inflation

An inflationary single field model with a non-trivial kinetic term for the inflaton is discussed. It is shown that it is possible to have large primordial non-gaussianities and large tensor-to-scalar ratio in a simple concrete model with just a scalar field and a generalized kinetic term for the inflaton field. This is potentially interesting in the prospect of new forthcoming observations.

Non-thermal leptogenesis and gravitino problem in inflaton decay

In the present work we discuss baryon asymmetry in the non-thermal leptogenesis scenario and gravitino cosmology for an unstable gravitino with inflaton decay. We take into account two production mechanisms for gravitino, namely thermal production and inflaton decay. We wish to show in plots the allowed parameter space so that the BBN constraint and the requirement for the right baryon asymmetry are satisfied at the same time. However our analysis shows that it is impossible to achieve both goals simultaneously.

Statefinder parameters in two dark energy models

The statefinder parameters ($r,s$) in two dark energy models are studied. In the first, we discuss in four-dimensional General Relativity a two fluid model, in which dark energy and dark matter are allowed to interact with each other. In the second model, we consider the DGP brane model generalized by taking a possible energy exchange between the brane and the bulk into account. We determine the values of the statefinder parameters that correspond to the unique attractor of the system at hand. Furthermore, we produce plots in which we show $s,r$ as functions of red-shift, and the ($s-r$) plane for each model.

Cosmic strings and Natural Inflation

In the present work we discuss cosmic strings in natural inflation. Our analysis is based entirely on the CMB quadrupole temperature anisotropy and on the existing upper bound on the cosmic string tension. Our results show that the allowed range for both parameters of the inflationary model is very different from the range obtained recently if cosmic strings are formed at the same time with inflation, while if strings are formed after inflation we find that the parameters of the inflationary model are similar to the ones obtained recently.

A brief note on how to unify dark matter, dark energy, and inflation

A scenario in which inflation, dark energy and dark matter can be unified into a single scalar field, the inflaton field $ϕ$, is studied. The inflaton is identified with the sneutrino, the scalar partner of the heavy neutrino. We determine the conditions needed for avoiding the gravitino problem and not having negligible plasma effects and we obtain the allowed range for the sneutrino coupling.

Gravitino dark matter in brane-world cosmology

The gravitino dark matter hypothesis in the brane cosmology is studied. The theoretical framework is the CMSSM for particle physics and RS II brane model for gravity. It is found that the gravitino can play the role of dark matter in the universe and we determine what the gravitino mass should be for different values of the five-dimensional Planck mass. An upper bound is obtained for the latter.

Assisted chaotic inflation in brane-world cosmology

Assisted chaotic inflation in brane cosmology is discussed. We work in the framework of Randall-Sundrum (RS) II model, in which adopting the RS condition the only parameter is the five-dimensional Planck mass. Using the scalar spectral index and the amplitude of scalar perturbations we determine both the mass of the scalar fields responsible for inflation and the fundamental Planck mass of the higher-dimensional theory. We find that the mass of the scalars has the typical value of the inflaton mass in chaotic inflation ($M_I \sim 10^{13}$ GeV) and that the five-dimensional Planck mass is very close to the GUT (Grand Unified Theories) scale ($M_5 \sim (10^{16}-10^{17})$ GeV). Furthermore, no matter how many scalar fields we use it is not possible to have chaotic inflation with field values below the fundamental Planck mass.
