Experimental tests on the lifetime Asymmetry

The experimental test problem of the left-right polarization-dependent lifetime asymmetry is discussed. It shows that the existing experiments cannot demonstrate the lifetime asymmetry to be right or wrong after analyzing the measurements on the neutron, the muon and the tau lifetime, as well as the $g-2$ experiment. However, It is pointed out emphatically that the SLD and the E158 experiments, the measurements of the left-right integrated cross section asymmetry in $Z$ boson production by $e^+e^-$ collisions and by electron-electron Møller scattering, can indirectly demonstrate the lifetime asymmetry. In order to directly demonstrate the lifetime asymmetry, we propose some possible experiments on the decays of polarized muons. The precise measurement of the lifetime asymmetry could have important significance for building a muon collider, also in cosmology and astrophysics. It would provide a sensitive test of the standard model in particle physics and allow for exploration of the possible $V+A$ interactions.

Two knees and the Evasion of Greisen-Zatsepin-Kuz'min Cutoff in Cosmic Ray Spectrum -- Are Neutrinos the Tachyons?

The whole spectrum of high-energy cosmic ray (HECR) is, very likely, influenced by tachyonic neutrinos. Especially, the appearance of two knees can be fitted by the tachyon mass $m(ν_e)=m(ν_μ)\simeq 0.51$ eV/$c^2$ as predicted by a minimal three - flavor model for tachyonic neutrino with one parameter $δ=0.38$ eV only. Then the evasion of GZK cutoff could be ascribed to $Z^0(W^\pm)$-burst model together with the same mechanism for knees as well as a prediction of left-right polarization dependent lifetime asymmetry. A further conclusive experiment might be whether the protons of HECR detected on Earth are really right handed polarized?

Cosmic Ray Spectrum and Tachyonic Neutrino

In the cosmic ray spectrum, there are two knees (abrupt changes of slopes) located around the energies $E_{th}=10^{15.5}$ eV and $10^{17.8}$ eV respectively. Based on the pioneering work by Kostelecky and Ehrlich, we ascribe the first knee to a sudden opening of the reaction channel $\tildeν_e+p\to n+e^+$ when the proton has a velocity just exceeding a critical value and so can absorb a tachyonic neutrino $ν_e$ in the form of an antineutrino $\tildeν_e$. Similarly, the second knee is triggered by the reaction $\tildeν_μ+p\to Λ+μ^+$. The fitting of these two values of $E_{th}$ gives the tachyon mass of $ν_e$ and $ν_μ$ being 0.54 eV/$c^2$ and 0.48 eV/$c^2$ respectively, which are in favor of a minimal three-flavor model for tachyonic neutrino with one parameter $δ$ being estimated to be $δ=0.34$ eV.

The Lifetime Asymmetry of Polarized Muons in Flight

Based on the parity violation in Standard Model, we study the dependence of the lifetime on the polarization of an initial-state fermion in weak interactions. The fermion lifetime was usually calculated in terms of spin states. However, after comparing spin states with helicity states and chirality states, it is pointed out that a spin state is helicity degenerate, and the spin state and the helicity state are entirely different. Using helicity states, we calculate the lifetime of polarized muons. The result shows that the lifetime of right-handed polarized muons is always greater than that of left-handed polarized muons with the same speed in flight.

A new insight into the negative-mass paradox of gravity and the accelerating universe

The discovery of acceleration of the universe expansion in recent astrophysics research prompts the author to propose that the Newton's gravitation law can be generalized to accommodate the antimatter: While the force between matters(antimatters) is attractive, the force between matter and antimatter is a repulsive one. A paradox of negative-mass in gravity versus a basic symmetry (m-->-m) based on quantum mechanics is discussed in sufficient detail so that the new postulate could be established quite naturally. Corresponding modification of the theory of general relativity is also suggested. If we believe in the symmetry of particle and antiparticle as well as the antigravity between them, it might be possible to consider a new scenario of the expansion of universe which might provide some new insight into the interpretation of cosmological phenomena including the accelerating universe observed.

A minimal three-flavor model for neutrino oscillation based on superluminal property

Recent experimental research progress of solar neutrino and neutrino oscillation reveals that neutrinos do have nonzero mass, which poses a serious challenge to theoretical physics. Two symmetries, the common invariance under the space-time inversion and the invariance or violation to maximum under the space inversion are analyzed for Dirac equation or the equation for superluminal neutrino respectively. Then a simple three-flavor model containing only one parameter is proposed and the relations among neutrino oscillation, parity violation and superluminal property are emphasized.

Ten arguments for the essence of special relativity

In searching for the essence of special relativity, we have been gradually accumulating ten arguments focusing on one fundamental postulate based on quantum mechanics.A particle is always not pure. It always contain two contradictory fields, $ϕ(\vec{x},t)$ and $χ(\vec{x},t)$,which are coupled together with the symmetry $ϕ(-\vec{x},-t)\longrightarrowχ(\vec{x},t)$ and $χ(-\vec{x},-t)\longrightarrowϕ(\vec{x},t)$.

Gaussian Effective Potential Analysis of Sinh(Sine)-Gordon Models by New Regularization-Renormalization Scheme

Using the new regularization and renormalization scheme recently proposed by Yang and used by Ni et al, we analyse the sine-Gordon and sinh-Gordon models within the framework of Gaussian effective potential in D+1 dimensions. Our analysis suffers no divergence and so does not suffer from the manipulational obscurities in the conventional analysis of divergent integrals. Our main conclusions agree exactly with those of Ingermanson for D=1,2 but disagree for D=3: the D=3 sinh(sine)-Gordon model is non-trivial. Furthermore, our analysis shows that for D=1,2, the running coupling constant (RCC)has poles for sine-Gordon model($γ^2<0$) and the sinh-Gordon model ($γ^2>0$) has a possible critical point $γ^2_c$ while for D=3, the RCC has poles for both $γ^2>0$ and $γ^2<0$.

The relations among two transversal submanifolds and global manifold

In Riemann geometry, the relations among two transversal submanifolds and global manifold are discussed. By replacing the normal vector of a submanifold with the tangent vector of another submanifold, the metric tensors, Christoffel symbols and curvature tensors of the three manifolds are linked together. When the inner product of the two tangent vectors vanishes, some corollaries of these relations give the most important second fundamental form and Gauss-Codazzi equation in the conventional submanifold theory. As a special case, the global manifold is Euclidean is considered. It is pointed out that, in order to obtain the nonzero energy-momentum tensor of matter field in a submanifold, there must be the contributions of the above inner product and the other submanifold. In general speaking, a submanifold is closely related to the matter fields of the other submanifold through the above inner product. This conclusion is in agreement with the Kaluza-Klein theory and it can be applied to generalize the models of direct product of manifolds in string and D-brane theories to the more general cases --- nondirect product manifolds.

Relativistic Stationary Schrodinger Equation for Many Particle System and Its Applications

Basing on the fundamental symmetry that the space-time inversion is equivalent to particle-antiparticle transformation, a relativistic modification on the stationary Schrodinger equation for many-particle system is made. The eigenvalue in the center of mass system is no longer equal to the negative of binding energy simply. The possible applications in various fields (e.g. the model of quarkonium) are discussed.
