Intertwined nematic and d-wave superconductive orders in optimally-doped La1.84Sr0.16CuO4

The anisotropy of the superconducting state and superconducting fluctuations in the CuO2 plane is directly related to the superconducting mechanism of copper oxide superconductors and is therefore pivotal for understanding high-temperature superconductivity. Here, we integrated the high-precision angle-resolved resistivity (ARR) measurement with a rotatable in-plane magnetic field to systematically study the angular dependence of superconducting fluctuations in optimally doped La1.84Sr0.16CuO4 (LSCO). By independently controlling the directions of the current and the magnetic field, we are able to isolate the magneto-resistivity contributed by the superconducting vortex motion and distinguish excitations from nematic superconductivity and d-wave superconductive order based on their respective C2 and C4 symmetries. Signatures of two intertwined superconductive orders are also evident in the measured angular dependence of the critical current. A T-B phase diagram of different types of superconducting fluctuations is determined. These findings are closely related to other intriguing phenomena, such as pair density wave and charge density wave.

Near-Optimal MNL Bandits Under Risk Criteria

We study MNL bandits, which is a variant of the traditional multi-armed bandit problem, under risk criteria. Unlike the ordinary expected revenue, risk criteria are more general goals widely used in industries and bussiness. We design algorithms for a broad class of risk criteria, including but not limited to the well-known conditional value-at-risk, Sharpe ratio and entropy risk, and prove that they suffer a near-optimal regret. As a complement, we also conduct experiments with both synthetic and real data to show the empirical performance of our proposed algorithms.

Markov semi-groups generated by elliptic operators with divergence-free drift

In this paper we construct a conservative Markov semi-group with generator $L=Δ+b\cdot\nabla$ on $\mathbb{R}^n$, where $b$ is a divergence-free vector field which belongs to $L^{2}\cap L^{p}$ with $\frac{n}{2}<p$. The research is motivated by the question of understanding the blow-up solutions of the fluid dynamic equations, which attracts a lot of attention in recent years.

Incompressible viscous fluids in $\mathbb{R}^2$ and SPDEs on graphs, in presence of fast advection and non smooth noise

The asymptotic behavior of a class of stochastic reaction-diffusion-advection equations in the plane is studied. We show that as the divergence-free advection term becomes larger and larger, the solutions of such equations converge to the solution of a suitable stochastic PDE defined on the graph associated with the Hamiltonian. Firstly, we deal with the case that the stochastic perturbation is given by a singular spatially homogeneous Wiener process taking values in the space of Schwartz distributions. As in previous works, we assume here that the derivative of the period of the motion on the level sets of the Hamiltonian does not vanish. Then, in the second part, without assuming this condition on the derivative of the period, we study a weaker type of convergence for the solutions of a suitable class of linear SPDEs.

On a maximal inequality and its application to SDEs with singular drift

In this paper we present a Doob type maximal inequality for stochastic processes satisfying the conditional increment control condition. If we assume, in addition, that the margins of the process have uniform exponential tail decay, we prove that the supremum of the process decays exponentially in the same manner. Then we apply this result to the construction of the almost everywhere stochastic flow to stochastic differential equations with singular time dependent divergence-free drift.

Parabolic equations with divergence-free drift in space $L_{t}^{l}L_{x}^{q}$

In this paper we study the fundamental solution $\varGamma(t,x;τ,ξ)$ of the parabolic operator $L_{t}=\partial_{t}-Δ+b(t,x)\cdot\nabla$, where for every $t$, $b(t,\cdot)$ is a divergence-free vector field, and we consider the case that $b$ belongs to the Lebesgue space $L^{l}\left(0,T;L^{q}\left(\mathbb{R}^{n}\right)\right)$. The regularity of weak solutions to the parabolic equation $L_{t}u=0$ depends critically on the value of the parabolic exponent $γ=\frac{2}{l}+\frac{n}{q}$. Without the divergence-free condition on $b$, the regularity of weak solutions has been established when $γ\leq1$, and the heat kernel estimate has been obtained as well, except for the case that $l=\infty,q=n$. The regularity of weak solutions was deemed not true for the critical case $L^{\infty}\left(0,T;L^{n}\left(\mathbb{R}^{n}\right)\right)$ for a general $b$, while it is true for the divergence-free case, and a written proof can be deduced from the results in [Semenov, 2006]. One of the results obtained in the present paper establishes the Aronson type estimate for critical and supercritical cases and for vector fields $b$ which are divergence-free. We will prove the best possible lower and upper bounds for the fundamental solution one can derive under the current approach. The significance of the divergence-free condition enters the study of parabolic equations rather recently, mainly due to the discovery of the compensated compactness. The interest for the study of such parabolic equations comes from its connections with Leray's weak solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations and the Taylor diffusion associated with a vector field where the heat operator $L_{t}$ appears naturally.

Parabolic equations with singular divergence-free drift vector fields

In this paper, we study an elliptic operator in divergence-form but not necessary symmetric. In particular, our results can be applied to elliptic operator $L=νΔ+u(x,t)\cdot\nabla$, where $u(\cdot,t)$ is a time-dependent vector field in $\mathbb{R}^{n}$, which is divergence-free in distribution sense, i.e. $\nabla\cdot u=0$. Suppose $u\in L_{t}^{\infty}(\textrm{BMO}_{x}^{-1})$. We show the existence of the fundamental solution $\varGamma(x,t;ξ,τ)$ of the parabolic operator $L-\partial_{t}$, and show that $\varGamma$ satisfies the Aronson estimate with a constant depending only on the dimension $n$, the elliptic constant $ν$ and the norm $\left\Vert u\right\Vert _{L^{\infty}(\textrm{BMO}^{-1})}$. Therefore the existence and uniqueness of the parabolic equation $\left(L-\partial_{t}\right)v=0$ are established for initial data in $L^{2}$-space, and their regularity is obtained too. In fact, we establish these results for a general non-symmetric elliptic operator in divergence form.
