Optimized numerical evolution of perturbations across sharp background trajectory turns in multifield inflation

Features in the primordial power spectrum require numerical methods that are both accurate and scalable across the wide class of multifield inflationary models that produce them. Sharp turns in the background trajectories, induced by either potential or geometric effects, render these computations particularly challenging. In this work, we introduce an efficient method for evolving primordial scalar fluctuations, requiring time steps comparable to those used for the background evolution. We demonstrate that the method accurately tracks perturbations through rapidly turning trajectories in arbitrary field-space geometries, enabling systematic exploration of spectral features across diverse multifield scenarios. Our approach scales robustly to large numbers of degrees of freedom, providing a reliable computational framework for probing regimes that significantly depart from slow-roll or slow-turn dynamics.

Numerical tiling-based simulations of decoherence in multifield models of inflation

In previous work, we developed a method for computing two-point correlators by decomposing the mode degrees of freedom into fast and slow components. Building on this framework, we present a numerical implementation to study the evolution of primordial scalar perturbations under controlled state deformations induced by the simplest environment corrections from the Lindblad equation. The primary contribution of this work is the development of a numerically stable and flexible framework for implementing open-system effects in inflationary perturbations, rather than the extraction of concrete predictions for the primordial spectrum. Our approach generalizes to an arbitrary number of degrees of freedom and does not rely on the slow-roll approximation. The computational routine is numerically efficient and allows users to configure arbitrary sequences of decoherence events, with full control over their duration, shape, amplitude and effective wavelength range. The resulting outputs are compatible with nonlinear numerical codes, enabling studies of how decoherence effects propagate during reheating.

Astrophysical foreground cleanup using non-local means

To create high-fidelity cosmic microwave background maps, current component separation methods rely on availability of information on different foreground components, usually through multi-band frequency coverage of the instrument. Internal linear combination (ILC) methods provide an unbiased estimators for CMB which are easy to implement, but component separation quality crucially depends on the signal to noise ratio of the input maps. In the present paper, we develop an efficient non-linear filter along the lines of non-local means used in digital imaging research which significantly improves signal to noise ratio for astrophysical foreground maps, while having minimal signal attenuation, and evaluate it performance in map and spectral domains. Noise reduction is achieved by averaging ``similar'' pixels in the map. We construct the rotationally-invariant feature vector space and compute the similarity metric on it for the case of non-Gaussian signal contaminated by an additive Gaussian noise. The proposed filter has two tuneable parameters, and with minimal tweaking achieves a factor of two improvement in signal to noise spectral density in Planck dust maps. A particularly desirable feature is that signal loss is extremely small at all scales.
