An optimal anisotropic Poincaré inequality for convex domains

In this paper, we prove a sharp lower bound of the first (nonzero) eigenvalue of Finsler-Laplacian with the Neumann boundary condition. Equivalently, we prove an optimal anisotropic Poincaré inequality for convex domains, which generalizes the result of Payne-Weinberger. A lower bound of the first (nonzero) eigenvalue of Finsler-Laplacian with the Dirichlet boundary condition is also proved.

A conformal integral invariant on Riemannian foliations

Let $M$ be a closed manifold which admits a foliation structure $\mathcal{F}$ of codimension $q\geq 2$ and a bundle-like metric $g_0$. Let $[g_0]_B$ be the space of bundle-like metrics which differ from $g_0$ only along the horizontal directions by a multiple of a positive basic function. Assume $Y$ is a transverse conformal vector field and the mean curvature of the leaves of $(M,\mathcal{F},g_0)$ vanishes. We show that the integral $\int_MY(R^T_{g^T})dμ_g$ is independent of the choice of $g\in [g_0]_B$, where $g^T$ is the transverse metric induced by $g$ and $R^T$ is the transverse scalar curvature. Moreover if $q\geq 3$, we have $\int_MY(R^T_{g^T})dμ_g=0$ for any $g\in [g_0]_B$. However there exist codimension 2 minimal Riemannian foliations $(M,\mathcal{F},g)$ and transverse conformal vector fields $Y$ such that $\int_MY(R^T_{g^T})dμ_g\neq 0$. Therefore, it is a nontrivial obstruction for the transverse Yamabe problem on minimal Riemannian foliation of codimension 2.

A new conformal invariant on 3-dimensional manifolds

By improving the analysis developed in the study of $\s_k$-Yamabe problem, we prove in this paper that the De Lellis-Topping inequality is true on 3-dimensional Riemannian manifolds of nonnegative scalar curvature. More precisely, if $(M^3, g)$ is a 3-dimensional closed Riemannian manifold with non-negative scalar curvature, then \[\int_M |Ric-\frac{\bar R} 3 g|^2 dv (g)\le 9\int_M |Ric-\frac{R} 3 g|^2dv(g), \] where $\bar R=vol (g)^{-1} \int_M R dv(g)$ is the average of the scalar curvature $R$ of $g$. Equality holds if and only if $(M^3,g)$ is a space form. We in fact study the following new conformal invariant \[\ds \widetilde Y([g_0]):=\sup_{g\in {\cal C}_1([g_0])}\frac {\ds vol(g)\int_M \s_2(g) dv(g)} {\ds (\int_M \s_1(g) dv(g))^2}, \] where ${\cal C}_1([g_0]):=\{g=e^{-2u}g_0\,|\, R>0\}$ and prove that $\widetilde Y([g_0])\le 1/3$, which implies the above inequality.

A Hardy-Moser-Trudinger inequality

In this paper we obtain an inequality on the unit disc $B$ in the plane, which improves the classical Moser-Trudinger inequality and the classical Hardy inequality at the same time. Namely, there exists a constant $C_0>0$ such that \[ \int_B e^{\frac {4πu^2}{H(u)}} dx \le C_0 < \infty, \quad \forall\; u\in C^\infty_0(B),\] where $$H(u) := \int_B |\n u|^2 dx - \int_B \frac {u^2}{(1-|x|^2)^2} dx.$$ This inequality is a two dimensional analog of the Hardy-Sobolev-Maz'ya inequality in higher dimensions, which was recently intensively studied. We also prove that the supremum is achieved in a suitable function space, which is an analog of the celebrated result of Carleson-Chang for the Moser-Trudinger inequality.

On the behavior of quasi-local mass at the infinity along nearly round surfaces

In this paper, we study the limiting behavior of the Brown-York mass and Hawking mass along nearly round surfaces at infinity of an asymptotically flat manifold. Nearly round surfaces can be defined in an intrinsic way. Our results show that the ADM mass of an asymptotically flat 3-manifold can be approximated by some geometric invariants of a family of nearly round surfaces which approach to infinity of the manifold.

Metrics of constant curvature on a Riemann surface with two corners on the boundary

We use PDE methods as developed for the Liouville equation to study the existence of conformal metrics with prescribed singularities on surfaces with boundary, the boundary condition being constant geodesic curvature. Our first result shows that a disk with two corners admits a conformal metric with constant Gauss curvature and constant geodesic curvature on its boundary if and only if the two corners have the same angle. In fact, we can classify all the solutions in a more general situation, that of the 2-sphere cut by two planes.

Liouville Theorems for Dirac-Harmonic Maps

We prove Liouville theorems for Dirac-harmonic maps from the Euclidean space $\R^n$, the hyperbolic space $\H^n$ and a Riemannian manifold $\mathfrak{S^n}$ ($n\geq 3$) with the Schwarzschild metric to any Riemannian manifold $N$.

Nonlinear Dirac equations on Riemann surfaces

We develop analytical methods for nonlinear Dirac equations. Examples of such equations include Dirac-harmonic maps with curvature term and the equations describing the generalized Weierstrass representation of surfaces in three-manifolds. We provide the key analytical steps, i.e., small energy regularity and removable singularity theorems and energy identities for solutions.

Transverse Kähler geometry of Sasaki manifolds and toric Sasaki-Einstein manifolds

In this paper we study compact Sasaki manifolds in view of transverse Kähler geometry and extend some results in Kähler geometry to Sasaki manifolds. In particular we define integral invariants which obstruct the existence of transverse Kähler metric with harmonic Chern forms. The integral invariant $f_1$ for the first Chern class case becomes an obstruction to the existence of transverse Kähler metric of constant scalar curvature. We prove the existence of transverse Kähler-Ricci solitons (or {\it Sasaki-Ricci soliton}) on compact toric Sasaki manifolds whose basic first Chern form of the normal bundle of the Reeb foliation is positive and the first Chern class of the contact bundle is trivial. We will further show that if $S$ is a compact toric Sasaki manifold with the above assumption then by deforming the Reeb field we get a Sasaki-Einstein structure on $S$. As an application we obtain irregular toric Sasaki-Einstein metrics on the unit circle bundles of the powers of the canonical bundle of the two-point blow-up of the complex projective plane.

Super-Liouville Equations on Closed Riemann Surfaces

Motivated by the supersymmetric extension of Liouville theory in the recent physics literature, we couple the standard Liouville functional with a spinor field term. The resulting functional is conformally invariant. We study geometric and analytic aspects of the resulting Euler-Lagrange equations, culminating in a blow up analysis.

Conformal deformations of the smallest eigenvalue of the Ricci tensor

We consider deformations of metrics in a given conformal class such that the smallest eigenvalue of the Ricci tensor to be a constant. It is related to the notion of minimal volumes in comparison geometry. Such a metric with the smallest eigenvalue of the Ricci tensor to be a constant is an extremal metric of volume in a suitable sense in the conformal class. The problem is reduced to solve a Pucci type equation with respect to the Schouten tensor. We establish a local gradient estimate for this type of conformally invariant fully nonlinear uniform elliptic equations. Combining it with the theory of fully nonlinear equations, we establish the existence of solutions for this equation.

Dirac-Harmonic Maps

We introduce a functional that couples the nonlinear sigma model with a spinor field: $L=\int_M[|dϕ|^2+(ψ,\Dψ)]$. In two dimensions, it is conformally invariant. The critical points of this functional are called Dirac-harmonic maps. We study some geometric and analytic aspects of such maps, in particular a removable singularity theorem.

Regularity Theorems and Energy Identities for Dirac-Harmonic Maps

We study a new set of coupled field equations motivated by the non-linear supersymmetric sigma model of quantum field theory. These equations couple a map into a Riemannian manifold controlled by a harmonic map like action with a spinor field along that map. We study the solutions which we call Dirac-harmonic maps from a Riemann surface to a sphere $§^n$. We show that a weakly Dirac-harmonic map is in fact smooth, and prove that the energy identity holds during the blow-up process.

Mean curvature flow with flat normal bundles

We show that flatness of the normal bundle is preserved under the mean curvature flow in the Euclidean space and use this to generalize a classical result for hypersurfaces due to Ecker-Huisken in the case of submanifolds with arbitrary codimension.

Geometric inequalities on locally conformally flat manifolds

Through the study of some elliptic and parabolic fully nonlinear PDEs, we establish conformal versions of quermassintegral inequality, the Sobolev inequality and the Moser-Trudinger inequality for the geometric quantities associated to the Schouten tensor on locally conformally flat manifolds.
