Compact Kähler threefolds with the action of an abelian group of maximal rank

In this note, we study the normal compact Kähler (possibly singular) threefold $X$ admitting the action of a free abelian group $G$ of maximal rank, all the non-trivial elements of which are of positive entropy. If such $X$ is further assumed to have only terminal singularities, then we prove that it is either a rationally connected projective threefold or bimeromorphic to a quasi-étale quotient of a complex $3$-torus.

Non-isomorphic endomorphisms of Fano threefolds

Let $X$ be a smooth Fano threefold. We show that $X$ admits a non-isomorphic surjective endomorphism if and only if $X$ is either a toric variety or a product of $\mathbb{P}^1$ and a del Pezzo surface; in this case, $X$ is a rational variety. We further show that $X$ admits a polarized (or amplified) endomorphism if and only if $X$ is a toric variety.

Strictly nef divisors on singular threefolds

Let $X$ be a normal projective threefold with mild singularities, and $L_X$ a strictly nef $\mathbb{Q}$-divisor on $X$. First, we show the ampleness of $K_X+tL_X$ with sufficiently large $t$ if either the Kodaira dimension $κ(X)\neq 0$ or the augmented irregularity $q^{\circ}(X)\neq 0$. Second, we show that, if $(X,Δ)$ is a projective klt threefold pair with the anti-log canonical divisor $-(K_X+Δ)$ being strictly nef, then $X$ is rationally connected.

Invariant subvarieties with small dynamical degree

Let $f:X\to X $ be a dominant self-morphism of an algebraic variety over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. We consider the set $Σ_{f^{\infty}}$ of $f$-periodic (irreducible closed) subvarieties of small dynamical degree, the subset $S_{f^{\infty}}$ of maximal elements in $Σ_{f^{\infty}}$, and the subset $S_f$ of $f$-invariant elements in $S_{f^{\infty}}$. When $X$ is projective, we prove the finiteness of the set $P_f$ of $f$-invariant prime divisors with small dynamical degree, and give an optimal upper bound (of cardinality) $$\sharp P_{f^n}\le d_1(f)^n(1+o(1))$$ as $n\to \infty$, where $d_1(f)$ is the first dynamic degree of $f$. When $X$ is an algebraic group (with $f$ being a translation of an isogeny), or a (not necessarily complete) toric variety (with $f$ stabilizing the big torus), we give an optimal upper bound $$\sharp S_{f^n}\le d_1(f)^{n\cdot\dim(X)}(1+o(1))$$ as $n \to \infty$, which slightly generalizes a conjecture of S.-W. Zhang for polarized $f$.

Totally invariant divisors of int-amplified endomorphisms of normal projective varieties

We consider an arbitrary int-amplified surjective endomorphism $f$ of a normal projective variety $X$ over $\mathbb{C}$ and its $f^{-1}$-stable prime divisors. We extend the early result for the case of polarized endomorphisms to the case of int-amplified endomorphisms. Assume further that $X$ has at worst Kawamata log terminal singularities. We prove that the total number of $f^{-1}$-stable prime divisors has an optimal upper bound $\dim X+ρ(X)$, where $ρ(X)$ is the Picard number. Also, we give a sufficient condition for $X$ to be rationally connected and simply connected. Finally, by running the minimal model program (MMP), we prove that, under some extra conditions, the end product of the MMP can only be an elliptic curve or a single point.
