Subleading Isgur-Wise Function of $Λ_b\toΛ_{c1}$ using QCD sum rules

Subleading Isgur-Wise form factor $τ(v\cdot v')$ at ${\cal O}(1/m_Q)$ for $Λ_b\toΛ_{c1}^{1/2,3/2}$ weak transition is calculated by using the QCD sum rules in the framework of the heavy quark effective theory (HQET), where $Λ^{1/2}_{c1}$ and $Λ^{3/2}_{c1}$ are the orbitally excited charmed baryon doublet with $J^P=(1^-/2,3^-/2)$. We consider the subleading contributions from the weak current matching in the HQET. The interpolating currents with transverse covariant derivative are adopted for $Λ^{1/2}_{c1}$ and $Λ^{3/2}_{c1}$ in the analysis. The slope parameter $ρ^2$ in linear approximation of $τ$ is obtained to be $ρ^2=2.76$ and the interception to be $τ(1)=-1.27$ GeV.

New Precision Electroweak Tests in Supergravity Models

We update the analysis of the precision electroweak tests in terms of 4 epsilon parameters, $ε_{1,2,3,b}$, to obtain more accurate experimental values of them by taking into account the new LEP data released at the 28th ICHEP (1996, Poland). We also compute $ε_1$ and $ε_b$ in the context of the no-scale $SU(5)\times U(1)$ supergravity model to obtain the updated constraints by imposing the correlated constraints in terms of the experimental ellipses in the $ε_1-ε_b$ plane and also by imposing the new bound on the lightest chargino mass, $m_{χ^\pm_1}\gtrsim 79$ $ GeV$. Upon imposing these new experimental results, we find that the situations in the no-scale model are much more favorable than those in the standard model, and if $m_t\gtrsim 170$ $ GeV$, then the allowed regions at the 95% C.~L. in the no-scale model are $\tanβ\gtrsim 4$ and $m_{χ^\pm_1}\lesssim 120 (82)$ $ GeV$ for $μ>0 (μ<0)$, which are in fact much more stringent than in our previous analysis. Therefore, assuming that $m_t\gtrsim 170$ $ GeV$, if the lightest chargino mass bound were to be pushed up only by a few GeV, the sign on the Higgs mixing term $μ$ in the no-scale model could well be determined from the $ε_1-ε_b$ constraint to be positive at the 95% C.~L. At any rate, better accuracy in the measured $m_t$ from the Tevatron in the near future combined with the LEP data is most likely to provide a decisive test of the no-scale $SU(5)\times U(1)$ supergravity model.

Higgs Boson Mass Bounds in the Standard and Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with Four Generations

We study the question of distinguishability of the Higgs sector between the standard model with four generations(SM4) and the minimal supersymmetric standard model with four generations (MSSM4). We find that a gap exists between the SM4 and MSSM4 Higgs boson masses for a range of the fourth generation fermion mass considered in the analysis at a fixed top quark mass. We also compare the Higgs boson mass bounds in these models with those in the standard and the minimal supersymmetric standard models.

$b\to sγ$ and $ε_1$ Constraints on Supergravity Models

In the light of the top quark discovered very recently by CDF, we investigate the possibility of narrowing down the allowed top quark masses by combining for the first time only two strongest constraints present in the no-scale $SU(5)\times U(1)$ supergravity model, namely, the ones from the flavor-changing radiative decay $b\rightarrow sγ$ and the precision measurements at LEP in the form of $ε_{1}$. It turns out that even without including the most devastating constraint from $\Zbb$ measurement at LEP in the form of $R_b$ directly or $ε_b$ indirectly, the combined constraint from $b\rightarrow sγ$ and $ε_1$ alone in fact excludes $m_t(m_t)\gsim 180\GeV$ altogether in the no-scale model, providing a constraint on $m_t$ near the upper end of the CDF values. The resulting upper bound on $m_t$ is stronger and $5 \GeV$ lower than the one from combining $ε_1$ and $ε_b$ constraints and also combining $b\rightarrow sγ$ and $ε_b $ constraints in the previous analysis.

Implications of the Recent Top Quark Discovery on Two Higgs Doublet Model

Concentrating on the impact of the very recent top quark discovery, we perform a combined analysis of two strongest constraints on the 2 Higgs doublet model, one coming from the recent measurement by CLEO on the inclusive branching ratio of b->s γdecay and the other from the recent LEP data on Z->b b-bar decay. We have included the model predictions for one-loop vertex corrections to Z->b b-bar through $ε_b$. We find that the $ε_b$ constraint excludes most of the less appealing window $\tanβ\lsim 1$ at 95% C.L. for the measured top mass from CDF, mt=176+/- 8+/-10 GeV. Moreover, it excludes $\tanβ\lsim 2$ at 95% C.L. for mt>176 GeV. Combining with the b->s γconstraint, only very heavy charged Higgs (>670 GeV) is allowed by the measured mt from CDF.

Phenomenology of Soft Terms in the Presence of Nonvanishing Hidden Sector Potential Energy

We argue that the hidden sector potential energy is generically of order the intermediate scale although the true cosmological constant does vanish. This would significantly change the predicted values of soft parameters for a variety of supergravity models including those derived from string theory. We stress that this point is particularly relevant for supergravity models in which the soft masses of observable fields vanish at tree level. Implications of a nonzero hidden sector potential energy for low energy phenomenology are also studied.

Probing Supergravity Models with Indirect Experimental Signatures

We explore the one-loop electroweak radiative corrections in the context of the traditional minimal $SU(5)$ and the string-inspired $SU(5)\times U(1)$ supergravity models by calculating explicitly vacuum-polarization and vertex-correction contributions to the $ε_1$ and $ε_b$ parameters. We also include in this analysis the constraint from $b\rightarrow sγ$ whose inclusive branching ratio $B(b\rightarrow sγ)$ has been actually measured very recently by CLEO. We find that by combining these three most important indirect experimental signatures and using the most recent experimental values for them, $m_t\gtrsim 170 {\rm GeV}$ is excluded for $μ>0$ in both the minimal $SU(5)$ supergravity and the no-scale $SU(5)\times U(1)$ supergravity. We also find that $m_t\gtrsim 175(185) {\rm GeV}$ is excluded for any sign of $μ$ in the minimal ($SU(5)\times U(1)$) supergravity model.

$ε_b$ Constraints on the Minimal $SU(5)$ and $SU(5)\times U(1)$ Supergravity Models

We have performed a systematic analysis to compute the one-loop electroweak corrections to the Z->b b-bar vertex in terms of $ε_b$ and $R_b$ in the context of the minimal $SU(5)$ and no-scale $SU(5)\times U(1)$ supergravity models. With the measured top mass, $m_t=174\pm 10^{+13}_{-12}$ $\GeV$ , recently announced by CDF, we use the latest LEP data on $ε_b$ and $R_b$ ($\equiv{Γ(Z->b b-bar)/{Γ(Z->hadrons)}}$) in order to constrain further the two models. We find that the present LEP data on $ε_b$ and $R_b$ constrain the two models rather severely. Especially, the low-$\tanβ$ region is constrained more severely. $\tanβ\lsim 2.5$ $(4.0)$ is excluded by $ε_b$ at $90\%$ C.~L. for $m_t\gsim 170$ $(180)$ $\GeV$ in the minimal $SU(5)$ (no-scale $SU(5)\times U(1)$) supergravity. Even more stringent constraint comes from $R_b$. It excludes $\tanβ\lsim 4.0$ at $90\%$ C.~L. for $m_t\gsim 160$ $(170)$ $\GeV$ in the minimal $SU(5)$ (no-scale $SU(5)\times U(1)$) supergravity. We also find that the sign on $μ$ in the two models can be determined from $ε_b$ and $R_b$ at $90\%$ C.~L.

Inclusion of Z->b b-bar vertex corrections in Precision Electroweak Tests on the Sp(6)_L X U(1)_Y Model

We extend our previous work on the precision electroweak tests in the Sp(6)_L X U(1)_Y family model to include for the first time the important Z->b b-bar vertex corrections encoded in a new variable epsilon_b, utilizing all the latest LEP data. We include in our analysis the one loop EW radiative corrections due to the new bosons in terms of epsilon_1, epsilon_b and $ΔΓ_Z$. We find that the correlation between epsilon_1 and epsilon_b makes the combined constraint much stronger than the individual ones. The model is consistent with the recent CDF result of $m_t=174\pm 10^{+13}_{-12}\GeV$, but it can not accomodate $m_t\gsim 195\GeV$.

Precision Electroweak Tests on the $Sp(6)_L \times U(1)_Y$ Model

We perform precision electroweak tests on the $Sp(6)_L \times U(1)_Y$ model. The purpose of the analysis is to delineate the model parameters such as the mixing angles of the extra gauge bosons present in this model. We find that the model is already constrained considerably by the present LEP data.

$b \rightarrow s γ$ and $ε_b$ Constraints on Two Higgs Doublet Model

We perform a combined analysis of two stringent constraints on the 2 Higgs doublet model, one coming from the recently announced CLEO II bound on $B(b \rightarrow s γ)$ and the other from the recent LEP data on $ε_b$. We have included one-loop vertex corrections to $Z \rightarrow b \overline b$ through $ε_b$ in the model. We find that the new $ε_b$ constraint excludes most of the less appealing window $\tanβ\lsim 1$ at $90\%$C.~L. for $m_t=150\GeV$. We also find that although $b \rightarrow s γ$ constraint is stronger for $\tanβ>1$, $ε_b$ constraint is stronger for $\tanβ\lsim 1$, and therefore these two are the strongest and complimentary constraints present in the charged Higgs sector of the model.

$b \rightarrow s γ$ and $Z \rightarrow b \overline b$ Constraints on Two Higgs Doublet Model

We perform a combined analysis of two stringent constraints on two Higgs doublet model, coming from the recently announced CLEO II bound on $B(b \rightarrow s γ)$ and $Z \rightarrow b \overline b$ and from the recent LEP data on the ratio $Γ(Z\rightarrow b\overline b)\over{Γ(Z\rightarrow hadrons)}$. We include one-loop vertex corrections to $Z \rightarrow b \overline b$ in the model. We find that although the CLEO II bound serves as the strongest constraint present in the charged Higgs sector of the model, the current LEP value for $R_b$ may also provide a further constraint for $\tanβ<1$.

Boson Pair Productions In $e^+$ $e^-$ Annihilation

We examine the processes $e^+ e^-\longrightarrow W^+ W^-$ and $Z^0 Z^0$ in the context of the $SP(6)_L\otimes U(1)_Y$ model. We find that there are significant deviations in the total cross sections $σ(s)$ from the standard model results due to the presence of additional gauge bosons $Z^\prime$ and $W^\prime$ in the model. These deviations could be detected at LEP.
