$f(R)$ global monopole revisited

In this paper the $f(R)$ global monopole is reexamined. We provide an exact solution for the modified field equations in the presence of a global monopole for regions outside its core, generalizing previous results. Additionally, we discuss some particular cases obtained from this solution. We consider a setup consisting of a possible Schwarzschild black hole that absorbs the topological defect, giving rise to a static black hole endowed with a monopole's charge. Besides, we demonstrate how the asymptotic behavior of the Higgs field far from the monopole's core is shaped by a class of spacetime metrics which includes those ones analyzed here. In order to assess the gravitational properties of this system, we analyse the geodesic motion of both massive and massless test particles moving in the vicinity of such configuration. For the material particles we set the requirements they have to obey in order to experience stable orbits. On the other hand, for the photons we investigate how their trajectories are affected by the gravitational field of this black hole.

The Stark Effect with Minimum Length

We will study the splitting in the energy spectrum of the hydrogen atom subjected to a uniform electric field (Stark effect) with the Heisenberg algebra deformed leading to the minimum length. We will use the perturbation theory for cases not degenerate ($n=1$) and degenerate ($n=2$), along with known results of corrections in these levels caused by the minimum length applied purely to the hydrogen atom, so that we may find and estimate the corrections of minimum length applied to the Stark effect.

Modified Maxwell equations from CPT-even Lorentz violation with Minimum Length

Here we discuss the presence of CPT-even Lorentz violation (LV) in the presence of a deformed Heisenberg algebra that leads to a minimum length (ML). We consider the case of a Maxwell lagrangian modified by the presence of a $K_{F}$ CPT-even LV theory and ML. We then derive a set of modified Maxwell equations in the cases of LV and ML and only ML. We verified that in the case of electromagnetic waves in the vacuum the presence of ML does not change the consequences of LV. On the other hand, in a material media ML changes the whole set of equations that can lead to important effects with respect to the usual equations. We also considered the more general case including LV and the modified equations in terms of matter fields. We then derived the refractive index as a function of the matter fields depending on LV and ML, and in particular we showed the behaviour of the refractive index with respect to the non-commutative parameter.

Metamaterials from modified CPT-odd standard model extension and minimum length

Here we discuss the standard model extension in the presence of CPT-odd Lorentz violation (LV) sector and of a deformed Heisenberg algebra that leads to a non-commutative theory with minimum length (ML). We derive the set of Maxwell equations emerging from this theory and considered the consequences with respect to the usual effects of electromagnetic waves and material media. We then considered the set of modified equations in material media and investigate the metamaterial behaviour as a consequence of LV and ML. We show that a negative index refraction can be derived from the presence of a non-commutativity suitably tuned by the $β$ parameter, while in the presence of LV, we obtained the set of modified Maxwell equation in terms of the corresponding material fields with terms depending explicitly from the terms of interaction between the material fields depending on non-commutativity with the background field due to CPT-odd LV. We conclude that a new set of metamaterials can be derived as a consequence of CPT-odd LV and non-commutativity with minimum length.

A relativistic quantum oscillator subject to a Coulomb-type potential induced by effects of the violation of the Lorentz symmetry

We consider a background of the violation of the Lorentz symmetry determined by the tensor $\left( K_{F}\right)_{μναβ}$ which governs the Lorentz symmetry violation out of the Standard Model Extension, where this background gives rise to a Coulomb-type potential, and then, we analyse its effects on a relativistic quantum oscillator. Furthermore, we analyse the behaviour of the relativistic quantum oscillator under the influence of a linear scalar potential and this background of the Lorentz symmetry violation. We show in both cases that analytical solutions to the Klein-Gordon equation can be achieved.

Casimir Effect at finite temperature for the CPT-even extension of QED

By the thermofield dynamics (TFD) formalism we obtain the energy-momentum tensor for the Electromagnetism with Lorentz Breaking Even term of the Standard Model Extended (SME) Sector in a topology $S^{1}\times S^{1}\times R^{2}$. We carry out the compactification by a generalized TFD-Bogoliubov transformation that is used to define a renormalized energy-momentum tensor, and the Casimir energy and pressure at finite temperature are then derived. A comparative analysis with the electromagnetic case is developed, and we remark the influence of the background in the traditional Casimir effect.

Lorentz symmetry breaking effects on relativistic EPR correlations

Lorentz symmetry breaking effects on relativistic EPR (Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen) correlations are discussed. From the modified Maxwell theory coupled to gravity, we establish a possible scenario of the Lorentz symmetry violation and write an effective metric for the Minkowski spacetime. Then, we obtain the Wigner rotation angle via the Fermi-Walker transport of spinors and consider the WKB ((Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin) approximation in order to study the influence of Lorentz symmetry breaking effects on the relativistic EPR correlations.

A Landau-type quantization from a Lorentz symmetry violation background with crossed electric and magnetic fields

We investigate the arising of an analogue of the Landau quantization from a background of the violation of the Lorentz symmetry established by a time-like 4-vector and a field configuration of crossed electric and magnetic field. We also analyse the effects on this Landau-type system subject to a hard-wall confining potential by showing a particular case where a discrete spectrum of energy can be obtained. Further, we analyse the effects of a linear confining potential on the Landau-type system. We show that a quantum effect characterized by the dependence of the cyclotron frequency on the quantum numbers of the system can arise in this analogue of the Landau system. As an example, we calculate the cyclotron frequency associated with ground state of the system.

On a relativistic scalar particle subject to a Coulomb-type potential given by Lorentz symmetry breaking effects

The behaviour of a relativistic scalar particle in a possible scenario that arises from the violation of the Lorentz symmetry is investigated. The background of the Lorentz symmetry violation is defined by a tensor field that governs the Lorentz symmetry violation out of the Standard Model Extension. Thereby, we show that a Coulomb-type potential can be induced by Lorentz symmetry breaking effects and bound states solutions to the Klein-Gordon equation can be obtained. Further, we discuss the effects of this Coulomb-type potential on the confinement of the relativistic scalar particle to a linear confining potential by showing that bound states solutions to the Klein-Gordon equation can also be achieved, and obtain a quantum effect characterized by the dependence of a parameter of the linear confining potential on the quantum numbers $\left\{n,l\right\}$ of the system.

Relativistic scalar particle subject to a confining potential and Lorentz symmetry breaking effects in the cosmic string spacetime

The behaviour of a relativistic scalar particle subject to a scalar potential under the effects of the violation of the Lorentz symmetry in the cosmic string spacetime is discussed. It is considered two possible scenarios of the Lorentz symmetry breaking in the CPT-even gauge sector of the Standard Model Extension defined by a tensor $\left(K_{F}\right)_{μναβ}$. Then, by introducing a scalar potential as a modification of the mass term of the Klein-Gordon equation, it is shown that the Klein-Gordon equation in the cosmic string spacetime is modified by the effects of the Lorentz symmetry violation backgrounds and bound state solution to the Klein-Gordon equation can be obtained.

He-McKellar-Wilkens-type effect from the Lorentz symmetry breaking effects

From the effects of the Lorentz symmetry violation in the CPT-even gauge sector of Standard Model Extension, we establish a possible scenario where an analogue of the He-McKellar-Wilkens effect can stem from. Besides, we build quantum holonomies associated with the analogue of the He-McKellar-Wilkens effect and discuss a possible analogy with the holonomic quantum computation [P. Zanardi and M. Rasetti, Phys. Lett. A {\bf264}, 94 (1999)]. Finally, we investigate the dependence of the energy levels on the He-McKellar-Wilkens geometric phase induced by Lorentz symmetry breaking effects when the particle is confined to a hard-wall confining potential.

Aspects of CPT-even Lorentz-symmetry violating physics in a supersymmetric scenario

Background fermion condensates in a landscape dominated by global SUSY are reassessed in connection with a scenario where Lorentz symmetry is violated in the bosonic sector (actually, the photon sector) by a $CPT$-even $k_F$-term. An effective photonic action is discussed that originates from the supersymmetric background fermion condensates. Also, the photino mass emerges in terms of a particular condensate contrary to what happens in the $k_{AF}$-violation. Finally, the interparticle potential induced by the effective photonic action is investigated and a confining profile is identified.

On the influence of a Rashba-type coupling induced by Lorentz-violating effects on a Landau system for a neutral particle

We study a possible scenario of the Lorentz symmetry violation background that allows us to build an analogue of the Landau system for a nonrelativistic Dirac neutral particle interacting with a field configuration of crossed electric and magnetic fields. We also discuss the arising of analogues of the Rashba coupling, the Zeeman term and the Darwin term from the Lorentz symmetry breaking effects, and the influence of these terms on the analogue of the Landau system confined to a two-dimensional quantum ring. Finally, we show that this analogy with the Landau system confined to a two-dimensional quantum ring allows us to establish an upper bound for the Lorentz symmetry breaking parameters.

Relativistic geometric quantum phases from the Lorentz symmetry violation effects in the CPT-even gauge sector of Standard Model Extension

We discuss the appearance of relativistic geometric quantum phases for a Dirac neutral particle based on possible scenarios of the Lorentz symmetry violation background in the CPT-even gauge sector of Standard Model Extension. Relativistic analogues of the Anandan quantum phase [J. Anandan, Phys. Lett. A 138, 347 (1989)] are obtained based on the the parity-even and parity-odd sectors of the tensor $\left(K_{F}\right)_{μναβ}$.

Lorentz violation and higher-derivative gravity

In this work, we analyze a gravity model with higher derivatives including a CPT-even Lorentz-violating term. In principle, the model could be a low-energy limit of a Lorentz-invariant theory presenting the violation of Lorentz symmetry as a consequence of a spontaneous symmetry-breaking mechanism if a decoupling between the metric and the Nambu-Goldstone modes is assumed. We have set up a convenient operator basis for the expansion of wave operators for symmetric second-rank tensors in the presence of a background vector. By using this set of operators, the particle content is obtained, and its consistency, regarding the conditions for stability and unitarity, is discussed. We conclude that this extra Lorentz noninvariant contribution is unable to address the problems of stability and unitarity of higher-derivative gravity models.

Geometric quantum phases from Lorentz symmetry breaking effects in the cosmic string spacetime

By starting from the modified Maxwell theory coupled to gravity, the arising of geometric quantum phases in the relativistic and nonrelativistic quantum dynamics of a Dirac neutral particle from the effects of the violation of the Lorentz symmetry in the cosmic string spacetime is investigated. It is shown that the Dirac equation can be written in terms of an effective metric and a relativistic geometric phase stems from the topology of the cosmic string spacetime and the Lorentz symmetry breaking effects. Further, the nonrelativistic limit of the Dirac equation is discussed and it is shown that both Lorentz symmetry breaking effects and the topology of the defect yields a phase shift in the wave function of the nonrelativistic spin-1/2 particle.

On Aharonov-Casher bound states

In this work bound states for the Aharonov-Casher problem are considered. According to Hagen's work on the exact equivalence between spin-1/2 Aharonov-Bohm and Aharonov-Casher effects, is known that the $\boldsymbol{\nabla}\cdot\mathbf{E}$ term cannot be neglected in the Hamiltonian if the spin of particle is considered. This term leads to the existence of a singular potential at the origin. By modeling the problem by boundary conditions at the origin which arises by the self-adjoint extension of the Hamiltonian, we derive for the first time an expression for the bound state energy of the Aharonov-Casher problem. As an application, we consider the Aharonov-Casher plus a two-dimensional harmonic oscillator. We derive the expression for the harmonic oscillator energies and compare it with the expression obtained in the case without singularity. At the end, an approach for determination of the self-adjoint extension parameter is given. In our approach, the parameter is obtained essentially in terms of physics of the problem.
