The ATLASPix3.1 CMOS Pixel Sensor Testbeam Performance and Serial Powering Characterisation

High-voltage CMOS (HV-CMOS) pixel technology is being considered for future Higgs factory experiments. The ATLASPix3.1 chip, with a pitch of 50$\mu m$ x 150$\mu m$, fabricated using TSI 180nm HV-CMOS technology, is a full reticle-size monolithic HV-CMOS sensor with shunt-low dropout (LDO) regulators that allow serial powering for multiple sensors. A beam test was conducted at DESY using 3-6 GeV electron beams, with chips operated in triggerless readout mode with zero suppression, demonstrating multi-chip capability. This was further evaluated with hadron beams, both with and without the built-in power regulators. This study presents the electrical characterisations of the shunt-LDO regulators for serial powering and test beam results of ATLASPix3.1 sensors.

LEGEND-1000 Preconceptual Design Report

We propose the construction of LEGEND-1000, the ton-scale Large Enriched Germanium Experiment for Neutrinoless $\beta \beta$ Decay. This international experiment is designed to answer one of the highest priority questions in fundamental physics. It consists of 1000 kg of Ge detectors enriched to more than 90% in the $^{76}$Ge isotope operated in a liquid argon active shield at a deep underground laboratory. By combining the lowest background levels with the best energy resolution in the field, LEGEND-1000 will perform a quasi-background-free search and can make an unambiguous discovery of neutrinoless double-beta decay with just a handful of counts at the decay $Q$ value. The experiment is designed to probe this decay with a 99.7%-CL discovery sensitivity in the $^{76}$Ge half-life of $1.3\times10^{28}$ years, corresponding to an effective Majorana mass upper limit in the range of 9-21 meV, to cover the inverted-ordering neutrino mass scale with 10 yr of live time.

Higgs boson potential at colliders: status and perspectives

This document summarises the current theoretical and experimental status of the di-Higgs boson production searches, and of the direct and indirect constraints on the Higgs boson self-coupling, with the wish to serve as a useful guide for the next years. The document discusses the theoretical status, including state-of-the-art predictions for di-Higgs cross sections, developments on the effective field theory approach, and studies on specific new physics scenarios that can show up in the di-Higgs final state. The status of di-Higgs searches and the direct and indirect constraints on the Higgs self-coupling at the LHC are presented, with an overview of the relevant experimental techniques, and covering all the variety of relevant signatures. Finally, the capabilities of future colliders in determining the Higgs self-coupling are addressed, comparing the projected precision that can be obtained in such facilities. The work has started as the proceedings of the Di-Higgs workshop at Colliders, held at Fermilab from the 4th to the 9th of September 2018, but it went beyond the topics discussed at that workshop and included further developments.

The D0 Silicon Microstrip Tracker

This paper describes the mechanical design, the readout chain, the production, testing and the installation of the Silicon Microstrip Tracker of the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. In addition, description of the performance of the detector during the experiment data collection between 2001 and 2010 is provided.

Total energy calculation of high pressure selenium: The origin of incommensurate modulations in Se-IV and the instability of proposed Se-II

We present calculation of the high pressure crystal structures in selenium, including rational approximants to the recently reported incommensurate phases. We show how the incommensurate phases can be intuitively explained in terms of imaginary phonon frequencies arising from Kohn anomalies in the putative undistorted phase. We also find inconsistencies between the calculated and experimental Se-II phase - the calculations show it to be a metastable metal while the experiment finds a stable semiconductor. We propose that the experimentally reported structure is probably in error.
