Critical Behavior of the Three-Dimensional Ising Spin Glass

We have simulated, using parallel tempering, the three dimensional Ising spin glass model with binary couplings in a helicoidal geometry. The largest lattice (L=20) has been studied using a dedicated computer (the SUE machine). We have obtained, measuring the correlation length in the critical region, a strong evidence for a second-order finite temperature phase transition ruling out other possible scenarios like a Kosterlitz-Thouless phase transition. Precise values for the $ν$ and $η$ critical exponents are also presented.

Effect of Dilution on First Order Transitions: The Three Dimensional Three States Potts Model

We have studied numerically the effect of quenched site dilution on a first order phase transition in three dimensions. We have simulated the site diluted three states Potts model studying in detail the second order region of its phase diagram. We have found that the $ν$ exponent is compatible with the one of the three dimensional diluted Ising model whereas the $η$ exponent is definitely different.

Site-diluted three dimensional Ising Model with long-range correlated disorder

We study two different versions of the site-diluted Ising model in three dimensions with long-range spatially correlated disorder by Monte Carlo means. We use finite-size scaling techniques to compute the critical exponents of these systems, taking into account the strong scaling-corrections. We find a $ν$ value that is compatible with the analytical predictions.

Finite Size Scaling and ``perfect'' actions: the three dimensional Ising model

Using Finite-Size Scaling techniques, we numerically show that the first irrelevant operator of the lattice $λϕ^4$ theory in three dimensions is (within errors) completely decoupled at $λ=1.0$. This interesting result also holds in the Thermodynamical Limit, where the renormalized coupling constant shows an extraordinary reduction of the scaling-corrections when compared with the Ising model. It is argued that Finite-Size Scaling analysis can be a competitive method for finding improved actions.

Scaling corrections: site-percolation and Ising model in three dimensions

Using Finite-Size Scaling techniques we obtain accurate results for critical quantities of the Ising model and the site percolation, in three dimensions. We pay special attention in parameterizing the corrections-to-scaling, what is necessary to put the systematic errors below the statistical ones.

Critical exponents of the three dimensional diluted Ising model

We study the phase diagram of the site-diluted Ising model in a wide dilution range, through Monte Carlo simulations and Finite-Size Scaling techniques. Our results for the critical exponents and universal cumulants turn out to be dilution-independent, but only after a proper infinite volume extrapolation, taking into account the leading corrections-to-scaling terms.

Finite-size scaling study of the d=4 site-diluted Ising

We study the four dimensional site-diluted Ising model using finite-size scaling techniques. We explore the whole parameter space (density-coupling) in order to determine the Universality Class of the transition line. Our data are compatible with Mean Field behavior plus logarithmic corrections.

Antiferromagnetic O(N) models in four dimensions

We study the antiferromagnetic O(N) model in the F_4 lattice. Monte Carlo simulations are applied for investigating the behavior of the transition for N=2,3. The numerical results show a first order nature but with a large correlation length. The $N \to \infty$ limit is also considered with analytical methods.

Ising exponents in the two-dimensional site-diluted Ising model

We study the site-diluted Ising model in two dimensions with Monte Carlo simulations. Using finite-size scaling techniques we compute the critical exponents observing deviations from the pure Ising ones. The differences can be explained as the effects of logarithmic corrections, without requiring to change the Universality Class.

The four dimensional site-diluted Ising model: a finite-size scaling study

Using finite-size scaling techniques, we study the critical properties of the site-diluted Ising model in four dimensions. We carry out a high statistics Monte Carlo simulation for several values of the dilution. The results support the perturbative scenario: there is only the Ising fixed point with large logarithmic scaling corrections. We obtain, using the Perturbative Renormalization Group, functional forms for the scaling of several observables that are in agreement with the numerical data.

Measures of critical exponents in the four dimensional site percolation

Using finite-size scaling methods we measure the thermal and magnetic exponents of the site percolation in four dimensions, obtaining a value for the anomalous dimension very different from the results found in the literature. We also obtain the leading corrections-to-scaling exponent and, with great accuracy, the critical density.

Is trivial the antiferromagnetic RP(2) model in four dimensions?

We study the antiferromagnetic RP(2) model in four dimensions. We find a second order transition with two order parameters, one ferromagnetic and the other antiferromagnetic. The antiferromagnetic sector has mean-field critical exponents and a renormalized coupling which goes to zero in the continuum limit. The exponents of the ferromagnetic channel are not the mean-field ones, but the difference can be interpreted as logarithmic corrections. We perform a detailed analysis of these corrections and conclude the triviality of the continuum limit of this model.

Antiferromagnetism in four dimensions: search for non-triviality

We present antiferromagnetism as a mechanism capable of modifying substantially the phase diagram and the critical behaviour of statistical mechanical models. This is particularly relevant in four dimensions, due to the connection between second order transition points and the continuum limit as a quantum field theory. We study three models with an antiferromagnetic interaction: the Ising and the O(4) Models with a second neighbour negative coupling, and the $\RP{2}$ Model. Different conclusions are obtained depending on the model.

Finite size effects on measures of critical exponents in d=3 O(N) models

We study the critical properties of three-dimensional O(N) models, for N=2,3,4. Parameterizing the leading corrections-to-scaling for the $η$ exponent, we obtain a reliable infinite volume extrapolation, incompatible with previous Monte Carlo values, but in agreement with $ε$-expansions. We also measure the critical exponent related with the tensorial magnetization as well as the $ν$ exponents and critical couplings.

Critical properties of the Antiferromagnetic \RP2$ model in three dimensions

We study the behavior of the antiferromagnetic RP$^2$ model in $d=3$. The vacuum structure is analyzed in the critical and low temperature regions, paying special attention to the spontaneous symmetry breaking pattern. Near the critical point we observe a full breakdown of the O(3) symmetry of the action. Several methods for computing critical exponents are compared. We conclude that the most solid determination is obtained using a measure of the correlation length. Corrections-to-scaling are parameterized, yielding a very accurate determination of the critical coupling and a 5\% error measure of the related exponent. This is used to estimate the systematic errors due to finite-size effects.

New Universality Class in three dimensions: the Antiferromagnetic $RP^2$ model

We present the results of a Monte Carlo simulation of the $RP^2$ model in three dimensions with negative coupling. We observe a second order phase transition between the disordered phase and an antiferromagnetic, unfrustrated, ordered one. We measure, with a Finite Size Scaling analysis, the thermal exponent, obtaining $ν=0.784(8)$. We have found two magnetic-type relevant operators whose related $η$ exponents are $0.038(2)$ and $1.338(8)$ respectively.
