p-Adic open string amplitudes with Chan-Paton factors coupled to a constant B-field

We establish rigorously the regularization of the p-adic open string amplitudes, with Chan-Paton rules and a constant B-field, introduced by Ghoshal and Kawano. In this study we use techniques of multivariate local zeta functions depending on multiplicative characters and a phase factor which involves an antisymmetric bilinear form. These local zeta functions are new mathematical objects. We attach to each amplitude a multivariate local zeta function depending on the kinematics parameters, the B-field and the Chan-Paton factors. We show that these integrals admit meromorphic continuations in the kinematic parameters, this result allows us to regularize the Goshal-Kawano amplitudes, the regularized amplitudes do not have ultraviolet divergences. Due to the need of a certain symmetry, the theory works only for prime numbers which are congruent to 3 modulo 4. We also discuss the limit p tends to 1 in the noncommutative effective field theory and in the Ghoshal-Kawano amplitudes. We show that in the case of four points, the limit p tends to 1 of the regularized Ghoshal-Kawano amplitudes coincides with the Feynman amplitudes attached to the limit p tends to 1 of the noncommutative Gerasimov-Shatashvili Lagrangian.

Smarr formula for black holes endowed with both electric and magnetic charges

The present paper clarifies how to consistently take into account the contribution of magnetic charges in the generalized Smarr mass formula by using properly the Tomimatsu's representation of Komar integrals. It is shown in particular that in all three examples of the dyonic solutions considered by us, the sum of the two electromagnetic terms in Smarr's formula can be cast into the form $\bar{\cal Q}Φ^H_{ext}$, where ${\cal Q}$ is the complex charge and $Φ^H_{ext}$ the complex extension of the electric potential.

Regularization of p-adic String Amplitudes, and Multivariate Local Zeta Functions

We prove that the p-adic Koba-Nielsen type string amplitudes are bona fide integrals. We attach to these amplitudes Igusa-type integrals depending on several complex parameters and show that these integrals admit meromorphic continuations as rational functions. Then we use these functions to regularize the Koba-Nielsen amplitudes. As far as we know, there is no a similar result for the Archimedean Koba-Nielsen amplitudes. We also discuss the existence of divergencies and the connections with multivariate Igusa's local zeta functions.

On $p$-adic string amplitudes in the limit $p$ approaches to one

In this article we discuss the limit $p$ approaches to one of tree-level $p$-adic open string amplitudes and its connections with the topological zeta functions. There is empirical evidence that $p$-adic strings are related to the ordinary strings in the $p \to 1$ limit. Previously, we established that $p$-adic Koba-Nielsen string amplitudes are finite sums of multivariate Igusa's local zeta functions, consequently, they are convergent integrals that admit meromorphic continuations as rational functions. The meromorphic continuation of local zeta functions has been used for several authors to regularize parametric Feynman amplitudes in field and string theories. Denef and Loeser established that the limit $p \to 1$ of a Igusa's local zeta function gives rise to an object called topological zeta function. By using Denef-Loeser's theory of topological zeta functions, we show that limit $p \to 1$ of tree-level $p$-adic string amplitudes give rise to certain amplitudes, that we have named Denef-Loeser string amplitudes. Gerasimov and Shatashvili showed that in limit $p \to 1$ the well-known non-local effective Lagrangian (reproducing the tree-level $p$-adic string amplitudes) gives rise to a simple Lagrangian with a logarithmic potential. We show that the Feynman amplitudes of this last Lagrangian are precisely the amplitudes introduced here. Finally, the amplitudes for four and five points are computed explicitly.

On an integrable deformation of Kapustin-Witten systems

In this article we study an integrable deformation of the Kapustin-Witten equations. Using the Weyl-Wigner-Moyal-Groenewold description an integrable $\star$-deformation of a Kapustin-Witten system is obtained. Starting from known solutions of the original equations, some solutions to these deformed equations are obtained.

A note on static dyonic diholes

In this brief note we argue that a dyonic generalization of the Emparan-Teo dihole solution is described by a static diagonal metric and therefore, contrary to the claim made in a recent paper by Cabrera-Munguia et al., does not involve any "non-vanishing global angular momentum" and rotating charges.

Towards Noncommutative Linking Numbers Via the Seiberg-Witten Map

In the present work some geometric and topological implications of noncommutative Wilson loops are explored via the Seiberg-Witten map. In the abelian Chern-Simons theory on a three dimensional manifold, it is shown that the effect of noncommutativity is the appearance of $6^n$ new knots at the $n$-th order of the Seiberg-Witten expansion. These knots are trivial homology cycles which are Poincaré dual to the high-order Seiberg-Witten potentials. Moreover the linking number of a standard 1-cycle with the Poincaré dual of the gauge field is shown to be written as an expansion of the linking number of this 1-cycle with the Poincaré dual of the Seiberg-Witten gauge fields. In the process we explicitly compute the noncommutative 'Jones-Witten' invariants up to first order in the noncommutative parameter. Finally in order to exhibit a physical example, we apply these ideas explicitly to the Aharonov-Bohm effect. It is explicitly displayed at first order in the noncommutative parameter, we also show the relation to the noncommutative Landau levels.

Topological Defects in $[SU(6)]^3 \times Z_3$

We study topological defects arising in the Grand Unification Model $SU(6)_L\otimes SU(6)_c \otimes SU(6)_R \times Z_3$. We show that the model does not contain domain walls, while it produces massive magnetic monopoles and it may, depending on the symmetry breaking chain, give rise to the formation of strings. We also discuss their possible relation$ the origin of the highest energy cosmic rays detected.

Principal Bundles, Connections and BRST Cohomology

We review the elementary theory of gauge fields and the Becchi-Rouet-Stora- Tyutin symmetry in the context of differential geometry. We emphasize the topological nature of this symmetry and discuss a double Chevalley-Eilenberg complex for it.

A Note on Weak ${\cal H}$-Spaces, Heavenly Equations and their Evolution Weak Heavenly Equations

\noindent It is find a non-linear partial differential equation which we show contains the first Heavenly equation of Self-dual gravity and generalize the second one. This differential equation we call "Weak Heavenly Equation" (${\cal WH}$-equation). For the two-dimensional case the ${\cal WH}$-equation is brought into the evolution form (Cauchy-Kovalevski form) using the Legendre transformation. Finally, we find that this transformed equation ("Evolution Weak Heavenly Equation") does admit very simple solutions.
