SALSA: a new versatile readout chip for MPGD detectors

The SALSA chip is a future readout ASIC foreseen for the MPGD detectors, developed in the framework of the EIC collider project, to equip the MPGD trackers of the EPIC experiment. It is designed to be versatile, to be adapted to other usages of MPGD detectors like TPC or photon detectors. It integrates a frontend block and an ADC for each of the 64 channels, associated to a configurable DSP processor meant to correct data and reduce the raw data flux to limit the output bandwidth. It will be compatible with the continuous readout foreseen for the EPIC DAQ, but will also work in a triggered environment. Several prototypes are already produced in order to qualify the different blocks of the chip, in particular the frontend, the ADC and the clock generation. The next 32-channel prototype is currently under development and is planed to be produced in 2025. The final prototype will be produced and tested from 2026 for a production of the SALSA chip at the horizon of 2027. Quasi-static thermal evolution of compact objects

We study under what conditions the thermal peeling is present for dissipative local and quasi-local anisotropic spherical matter configurations. The thermal peeling occurs when different signs in the velocity of fluid elements appears, giving rise to the splitting of the matter configuration. The evolution is considered in the quasi-static approximation and the matter contents are radiant, anisotropic (unequal stresses) spherical local and quasi-local fluids. The heat flux and the associated temperature profiles are described by causal thermodynamics consistent with this approximation. It is found some particular, local and quasi-local equation of state for ultra-dense matter configurations exhibit thermal peeling when most of the radiated energy is concentrated at the middle of the distribution. This effect, which appears to be associated with extreme astrophysical scenarios (highly relativistic and very luminous gravitational system expelling its outer mass shells), is very sensible to energy flux profile and to the shape of the luminosity emitted by the compact object.

Wires with Quantum Memory

We show that quantum particles constrained to move along curves undergoing cyclic deformations acquire, in general, geometric phases. We treat explicitly an example, involving particular deformations of a circle, and ponder on potential applications.

Sound Speeds, Cracking and Stability of Self-Gravitating Anisotropic Compact Objects

Using the the concept of cracking we explore the influence of density fluctuations and local anisotropy have on the stability of local and non-local anisotropic matter configurations in general relativity. This concept, conceived to describe the behaviour of a fluid distribution just after its departure from equilibrium, provides an alternative approach to consider the stability of selfgravitating compact objects. We show that potentially unstable regions within a configuration can be identify as a function of the difference of propagations of sound along tangential and radial directions. In fact, it is found that these regions could occur when, at particular point within the distribution, the tangential speed of sound is greater than radial one.

ce-61: a Tidal Dwarf Galaxy in the Hercules cluster?

A candidate Tidal Dwarf Galaxy, ce-61, was identified in the merger system IC 1182 in the Hercules supercluster. The multi-wavelength data we obtained so far do not prove, however, that it is kinematically detached from the IC 1182 system and gravitationally bound.

Non-confirmation of reported HI clouds without optical counterparts in the Hercules Cluster

21 cm HI line observations were made with the Arecibo Gregorian telescope of 9 HI clouds in the Hercules Cluster which were reported as tenative detections in a VLA HI study of the cluster (Dickey 1997) and for which our deep CCD imaging failed to find any optical counterparts. No sensitive observations could be made of one of these (sw-174) due to the presence of a close-by strong continuum source. The other 8 tentative HI detections were not reconfirmed by the Arecibo HI measurements. The CCD images did reveal faint, low surface brightness counterparts near the centres of two other VLA HI sources invisible on the Palomar Sky Survey, sw-103 and sw-194.

Nonlocal Equation of State in Anisotropic Static Fluid Spheres in General Relativity

We show that it is possible to obtain credible static anisotropic spherically symmetric matter configurations starting from known density profiles and satisfying a nonlocal equation of state. These particular types of equation of state describe, at a given point, the components of the corresponding energy-momentum tensor not only as a function at that point, but as a functional throughout the enclosed configuration. To establish the physical plausibility of the proposed family of solutions satisfying nonlocal equation of state, we study the constraints imposed by the junction and energy conditions on these bounded matter distributions. We also show that it is possible to obtain physically plausible static anisotropic spherically symmetric matter configurations, having nonlocal equations of state\textit{,}concerning the particular cases where the radial pressure vanishes and, other where the tangential pressures vanishes. The later very particular type of relativistic sphere with vanishing tangential stresses is inspired by some of the models proposed to describe extremely magnetized neutron stars (magnetars) during the transverse quantum collapse.

Nonlocal Equation of State in General Relativistic Radiating Spheres

We show that under particular circumstances a general relativistic spherically symmetric bounded distribution of matter could satisfy a nonlocal equation of state. This equation relates, at a given point, the components of the corresponding energy momentum tensor not only as function at that point, but as a functional throughout the enclosed configuration. We have found that these types of dynamic bounded matter configurations, with constant gravitational potentials at the surface, admit a Conformal Killing Vector and fulfill the energy conditions for anisotropic imperfect fluids. We also present several analytical and numerical models satisfying these equations of state which collapse as reasonable radiating anisotropic spheres in general relativity.
