Less Regular Exceptional and Repeating Prime Number Multiplets

New exceptional (i.e. non-repeating) prime number multiplets are given and formulated in terms of arithmetic progressions, along with laws governing them. Accompanying repeating prime number multiplets are pointed out. Prime number multiplets with less regular distances are studied.

Romanovski polynomials in selected physics problems

We briefly review the five possible real polynomial solutions of hypergeometric differential equations. Three of them are the well known classical orthogonal polynomials, but the other two are different with respect to their orthogonality properties. We then focus on the family of polynomials which exhibits a finite orthogonality. This family, to be referred to as the Romanovski polynomials, is required in exact solutions of several physics problems ranging from quantum mechanics and quark physics to random matrix theory. It appears timely to draw attention to it by the present study. Our survey also includes several new observations on the orthogonality properties of the Romanovski polynomials and new developments from their Rodrigues formula.

Connections between Romanovski and other polynomials

A connection between Romanovski polynomials and those polynomials that solve the one-dimensional Schrödinger equation with the trigonometric Rosen-Morse and hyperbolic Scarf potential is established. The map is constructed by reworking the Rodrigues formula in an elementary and natural way. The generating function is summed in closed form from which recursion relations and addition theorems follow. Relations to some classical polynomials are also given.

Connections between real polynomial solutions of hypergeometric-type differential equations with Rodrigues formula

Starting from the Rodrigues representation of polynomial solutions of the general hypergeometric-type differential equation complementary polynomials are constructed using a natural method. Among the key results is a generating function in closed form leading to short and transparent derivations of recursion relations and an addition theorem. The complementary polynomials satisfy a hypergeometric-type differential equation themselves, have a three-term recursion among others and obey Rodrigues formulas. Applications to the classical polynomials are given.

qqqbar to qqqbar and qqbarqbar to qqbarqbar Elastic Scatterings and Thermalization of Quark Matter and Antiquark Matter

Thermalization of quark matter and antiquark matter is studied with quark-quark-antiquark as well as quark-antiquark-antiquark elastic scatterings. Squared amplitudes of qqqbar to qqqbar and qqbarqbar to qqbarqbar at order alpha_s^4 are derived in perturbative QCD. Solved by a new technique, solutions of transport equations with the squared amplitudes indicate that the scatterings qqqbar to qqqbar and qqbarqbar to qqbarqbar shorten the thermalization time of quark matter and antiquark matter. It is emphasized that three-parton and other multi-parton scatterings become important at the high parton number density achieved in RHIC Au-Au collisions.

Triple-quark elastic scatterings and thermalization

Triple-quark elastic scattering amplitudes from perturbative QCD are first calculated and then used in a transport equation to study the thermalization of quark matter. By examining momentum isotropy to which the transport equation leads, we can determine thermalization time and offer an initial thermal quark distribution function. With an anisotropic initial quark distribution, which is relevant to quark matter initially created in a central Au-Au collision at \sqrt {s_{NN}}=200 GeV, the transport equation gives a time of the order of 1.8 fm/c for quark matter itself to thermalize by the triple-quark scatterings.

Dynamics of few-body states in a medium

Strongly interacting matter such as nuclear or quark matter leads to few-body bound states and correlations of the constituents. As a consequence quantum chromodynamics has a rich phase structure with spontaneous symmetry breaking, superconductivity, condensates of different kinds. All this appears in many astrophysical scenarios. Among them is the formation of hadrns during the early stage of the Universe, the structure of a neutron star, the formation of nuclei during a supernova explosion. Some of these extreme conditions can be simulated in heavy ion colliders. To treat such a hot and dense system we use the Green function formalism of many-body theory. It turns out that a systematic Dyson expansion of the Green functions leads to modified few-body equations that are capable to describe phase transitions, condensates, cluster formation and more. These equations include self energy corrections and Pauli blocking. We apply this method to nonrelativistic and relativistic matter. The latter one is treated on the light front. Because of the medium and the inevitable truncation of space, the few-body dynamics and states depend on the thermodynamic parameters of the medium.

Light front thermal field theory at finite temperature and density

We investigate quark matter at finite temperature and finite chemical potential as an example for a relativistic many-particle quantum system. Special relativity is realized through the front form that allows for a Hamiltonian formulation of a statistical operator. Utilizing our previous results we generalize the present formulation of a relativistic thermal field theory to include a finite chemical potential. As an application we use the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model to investigate the gap equation and chiral restoration.

Neutron Charge Radius: Relativistic Effects and the Foldy Term

The neutron charge radius is studied within a light-front model with different spin coupling schemes and wave functions. The cancellation of the contributions from the Foldy term and Dirac form factor to the neutron charge form factor is verified for large nucleon sizes and it is independent of the detailed form of quark spin coupling and wave function. For the physical nucleon our results for the contribution of the Dirac form factor to the neutron radius are insensitive to the form of the wave function while they strongly depend on the quark spin coupling scheme.

On the stability of three-body bound states on the light front

We investigate the stability of the relativistic three-boson system with a zero range force in the light front form. In particular we study the dependence of the system on an invariant cut-off. We discuss the conditions for the relativistic Thomas collapse. Finally, we fix the parameters of the model introducing a scale.

Few-quark correlation in hot matters

We address the issue of three-quark clusters in a medium of finite temperatures and densities. We use the light front approach and utilize a Green function formalism. We consider first the isolated case using a zero-range interaction and introducing an invariant cut-off and then medium effects. The Mott lines are shown for different values of the cut-off.

Three Quark Clusters in Hot and Dense Nuclear Matter

We present a relativistic in-medium three-body equation to study correlations in hot and dense quark matter. The equation is solved for a zero-range force for parameters close to the phase transition of QCD.

Correlations in hot and dense quark matter

We present a relativistic three-body equation to investigate three-quark clusters in hot and dense quark matter. To derive such an equation we use the Dyson equation approach. The equation systematically includes the Pauli blocking factors as well as the self energy corrections of quarks. Special relativity is realized through the light front form. Presently we use a zero-range force and investigate the Mott transition.

Three-quark clusters at finite temperatures and densities

We present a relativistic three-body equation to study correlations in a medium of finite temperatures and densities. This equation is derived within a systematic Dyson equation approach and includes the dominant medium effects due to Pauli blocking and self energy corrections. Relativity is implemented utilizing the light front form. The equation is solved for a zero-range force for parameters close to the confinement-deconfinement transition of QCD. We present correlations between two- and three-particle binding energies and calculate the three-body Mott transition.

Relativistic Quark Spin Coupling Effects in the Correlations Between Nucleon Electroweak Properties

We investigate the effect of different relativistic spin couplings of constituent quarks on nucleon electroweak properties. Within each quark spin coupling scheme the correlations between static electroweak observables are found to be independent of the particular shape of the momentum part of the nucleon light-front wave function. The neutron charge form factor is very sensitive to different choices of spin coupling schemes once the magnetic moment is fitted to the experimental value. However, it is found rather insensitive to the details of the momentum part of the three-quark wave function model.

Violations of Lorentz Covariance in Light Front Quark Models

Electromagnetic form factors of the nucleon from relativistic quark models are analyzed: results from null-plane projection of the Feynman triangle diagram are compared with a Bakamjian-Thomas model. The magnetic form factors of the models differ by about 15% at spacelike momentum transfer 0.5 GeV^2, while the charge form factors are much closer. Spurious contributions to electromagnetic form factors due to violations of rotational symmetry are eliminated from both models. One method changes magnetic form factors by about 10%, whereas the charge form factors stay nearly the same. Another one changes the charge form factor of the Bakamjian-Thomas model by more than 50%.

Relativistic Quark Spin Coupling Effects in the Nucleon Electromagnetic Form Factors

We investigate the effect of different forms of relativistic spin coupling of constituent quarks in the nucleon electromagnetic form factors. The four-dimensional integrations in the two-loop Feynman diagram are reduced to the null-plane, such that the light-front wave function is introduced in the computation of the form factors. The neutron charge form factor is very sensitive to different choices of spin coupling schemes, once its magnetic moment is fitted to the experimental value. The scalar coupling between two quarks is preferred by the neutron data, when a reasonable fit of the proton magnetic momentum is found.
