Detailed Analysis of the Three Quark Potential in SU(3) Lattice QCD

The static three-quark (3Q) potential is studied in detail using SU(3) lattice QCD with $12^3 \times 24$ at $β=5.7$ and $16^3 \times 32$ at $β=5.8$, 6.0 at the quenched level. For more than 300 different patterns of the 3Q systems, we perform the accurate measurement of the 3Q Wilson loop with the smearing method, which reduces excited-state contaminations, and present the lattice QCD data of the 3Q ground-state potential $V_{\rm 3Q}$. We perform the detailed fit analysis on $V_{\rm 3Q}$ in terms of the Y-ansatz both with the continuum Coulomb potential and with the lattice Coulomb potential, and find that the lattice QCD data of the 3Q potential $V_{\rm 3Q}$ are well reproduced within a few % deviation by the sum of a constant, the two-body Coulomb term and the three-body linear confinement term $σ_{\rm 3Q} L_{\rm min}$, with $L_{\rm min}$ the minimal value of the total length of color flux tubes linking the three quarks. From the comparison with the Q-$\bar {\rm Q}$ potential, we find a universality of the string tension as $σ_{\rm 3Q} \simeq σ_{\rm Q \bar Q}$ and the one-gluon-exchange result for the Coulomb coefficients as $A_{\rm 3Q} \simeq \frac12 A_{\rm Q \bar Q}$. We investigate also the several fit analyses with the various ansätze: the Y-ansatz with the Yukawa potential, the $Δ$-ansatz and a more general ansatz including the Y and the $Δ$ ansätze in some limits. All these fit analyses support the Y-ansatz on the confinement part in the 3Q potential $V_{\rm 3Q}$, although $V_{\rm 3Q}$ seems to be approximated by the $Δ$-ansatz with $σ_Δ\simeq 0.53 σ$.

Charmed hadron physics in quenched anisotropic lattice QCD

We investigate the anisotropic lattice with $O(a)$ improved quark action as a candidate of framework in which we can treat both the heavy and light quark region in the same manner and systematically reduce the systematic uncertainties. To examine applicability of anisotropic lattice, we calculate the charmed meson spectrum and decay constants in quenched approximation. We find consistent result with most advanced results on isotropic lattices.

Screening mass responses to the chemical potential at finite temperature

Responses to chemical potential of the pseudoscalar meson screening mass and the chiral condensate in lattice QCD are investigated. On a $16 \times 8^2 \times \4$ lattice with two flavors of staggered quarks the first and second responses below and above $T_c$ are evaluated. Different behavior in the low and the high temperature phases are observed, which may be explained as a consequence of the chiral symmetry breaking and restoration.

Study of spatial meson correlators at finite temperature in quenched anisotropic lattice QCD

We analyze the meson correlator in the spatial direction at finite temperature. To achieve fine resolution in the spatial direction, we use an anisotropic lattice with the standard Wilson plaquette gauge action and the $O(a)$ improved Wilson quark action. Below and above $T_c$, properties of correlators are investigated by two methods: fits with ansatz for the spectral function, and direct reconstruction of the spectral function using the maximum entropy method.

Responses of hadrons to chemical potential at finite temperature

We present a framework to compute the responses of hadron masses to the chemical potential in lattice QCD simulations. As a first trial, the screening mass of the pseudoscalar meson and its first and second responses are evaluated. We present results on a $16\times 8^2\times 4$ lattice with two flavors of staggered quarks below and above $T_c$. The responses to both the isoscalar and isovector chemical potentials are obtained. They show different behavior in the low and the high temperature phases, which may be explained as a consequence of chiral symmetry breaking and restoration, respectively.

O(a) improved Wilson quark action on anisotropic lattice

The $O(a)$ improved Wilson quark action on the anisotropic lattice is investigated. We carry out numerical simulations in the quenched approximation at three values of lattice spacing ($a_σ^{-1}=1$--2 GeV) with the anisotropy $ξ=a_σ/a_τ=4$, where $a_σ$ and $a_τ$ are the spatial and the temporal lattice spacings, respectively. Using the dispersion relation of mesons, the bare anisotropy $γ_F$ in the quark action is numerically tuned below the charm quark mass region with the statistical accuracy of 1 % level. The systematic uncertainties in the calibration are examined and found to be under control in the continuum limit. Then we compute the light hadron masses and find that they are consistent with the result of the UKQCD Collaboration on the isotropic lattice. The effect of the uncertainty in the calibration on the hadron spectrum for physical quark masses is also found to be under control.

Quenched charmonium near the continuum limit

We study relativistic charmonium on very fine quenched lattices (beta=6.4 and 6.6). We concentrate on the calculation of the hyperfine splitting between eta_c and J/psi, aiming for a controlled continuum extrapolation of this quantity. Results for the eta_c and J/psi wave functions are also presented.

SU(3) Lattice QCD Study for Static Three-Quark Potential

We study the static three-quark (3Q) potential in detail using SU(3) lattice QCD with $12^3 \times 24$ at $β=5.7$ and $16^3 \times 32$ at $β=5.8, 6.0$ at the quenched level. For more than 200 patterns of the 3Q systems, we numerically derive 3Q ground-state potential $V_{3Q}$ from the 3Q Wilson loop with the smearing technique, which reduces excited-state contaminations. The lattice QCD data of $V_{3Q}$ are well reproduced within a few % deviation by a sum of a constant, the two-body Coulomb term and the three-body linear confinement term $σ_{3Q} L_{min}$, with $L_{min}$ the minimal value of total length of color flux tubes linking the three quarks. From the comparison with the Q-$\bar {Q}$ potential, we find a universality of the string tension as $σ_{3Q} \simeq σ_{\rm Q \bar Q}$ and the one-gluon-exchange result for Coulomb coefficients, $A_{3Q} \simeq \frac12 A_{\rm Q \bar Q}$.

Three-Quark Potential in SU(3) Lattice QCD

The static three-quark (3Q) potential is measured in the SU(3) lattice QCD with $12^3 \times 24$ and $β=5.7$ at the quenched level. From the 3Q Wilson loop, the 3Q ground-state potential $V_{\rm 3Q}$ is extracted using the smearing technique for the ground-state enhancement. With accuracy better than a few %, $V_{\rm 3Q}$ is well described by a sum of a constant, the two-body Coulomb term and the three-body linear confinement term $σ_{\rm 3Q} L_{\rm min}$, where $L_{\rm min}$ denotes the minimal length of the color flux tube linking the three quarks. By comparing with the Q-$\bar {\rm Q}$ potential, we find a universal feature of the string tension, $σ_{\rm 3Q} \simeq σ_{\rm Q \bar Q}$, as well as the one-gluon-exchange result for the Coulomb coefficient, $A_{\rm 3Q} \simeq \frac12 A_{\rm Q \bar Q}$.

Study of Charmonia near the deconfining transition on an anisotropic lattice with O(a) improved quark action

We study hadron properties near the deconfining transition in the quenched lattice QCD simulation. This paper focuses on the heavy quarkonium states, such as $J/ψ$ meson. In order to treat heavy quarks at $T>0$, we adopt the $O(a)$ improved Wilson action on anisotropic lattice. We discuss $c\bar{c}$ bound state observing the wave function and compare the meson correlators at above and below $T_c$. Although we find a large change of correlator near the $T_c$, the strong spatial correlation which is almost the same as confinement phase survives even $T\sim 1.5T_c$.

Chemical potential response of meson masses at finite temperature

We study the response of meson masses to the chemical potential ($\partial{m}/\partialμ$) at high temperature and at zero chemical potential on $N_f=2$ lattice with staggered fermions. Preliminary results for the meson composed of different quarks show that $\partial{m}/\partialμ|_{μ=0}$ is negative in the confinement phase and positive in the deconfinement phase.

We study hadron properties near the deconfining transition in the finite temperature lattice QCD. This paper focus on the heavy quarkonium states, such as $J/ψ$ meson. We compare the meson correlators above and below $T_c$ and discuss the possibility of the $c\bar{c}$ bound state by observing the wave function.

Static three quark potential in the quenched lattice QCD

We study the static three quark potential using lattice QCD simulation. At zero temperature, the three quark potential is extracted from the baryonic Wilson loop and fitted to the phenomenological form, the sum of the Coulomb term, linearly rising term and the constant. We compare two types of the linear term, ``$Y$'' and ``$Δ$'' type, and find that the string tension almost coincide with $σ_{Q\bar{Q}}$ in the former case. We also investigate the three quark potential at finite temperature using the Polyakov loop correlation. In the deconfined phase, the screened potential is observed similarly to the case of $Q\bar{Q}$ system.

Meson Correlators in Finite Temperature Lattice QCD

We analyze temporal and spatial meson correlators in quenched lattice QCD at T>0. Below T_c we observe little change in the meson properties as compared with T=0. Above T_c we observe new features: chiral symmetry restoration and signals of plasma formation, but also indication of persisting mesonic (metastable) states and different temporal and spatial masses in the mesonic channels. This suggests a complex picture of QGP in the region 1 - 1.5 T_c.

A Study of Meson Correlators at Finite Temperature

We present results for mesonic propagators in temporal and spatial directions at T below and above the deconfining transition in quenched QCD. Anisotropic lattices are used to get enough information in the temporal direction. We use the Wilson fermion action for light quarks and Fermilab action for heavy quarks.

Monte Carlo Renormalization Group analysis of QCD in two dimensional coupling space

We report our results of the Monte Carlo Renormalization Group analysis in two dimensional coupling space. The qualitative features of the RG flow are described with a phenomenological RG equation. The dependence on the lattice spacing for various actions provides the conditions to determine the parameters entering the RG equation.
